There were so many restaurants on our doorstep and the transport to other areas of the island were great.

The one thing I will say is that on Friday and Saturday there was an increased level of noise from surrounding pubs BUT don’t let that stop you going. It is a busy area so there will be more noise. Me partner and I, despite being in our twenties, don’t like to go out (we are old at heart).

The breakfast area is in a separate part of the Bay Street complex in a restaurant called Fornelli but it is a lovely restaurant and the staff are helpful. Ì would definitely recommend going there for dinner as well.

The pool is absolutely beautiful. The views are stunning.

Located above the Bay Street shopping centre in Paceville, St Julians, this modern 4 star hotel is clean, comfortable, and well equipped. My room was spacious, with a very comfortable bed, plenty of storage space, safe, tea and coffee making facilities, and an enormous flat screen tv (maybe 80 inch?) with Satellite Channels and free Netflix. Staff were friendly and helpful. Free wifi provided. My room had a balcony with a side sea view.

Good news is that the Buffet Breakfast was the best English and Continental Breakfast selection and quality I have experienced in Malta (having stayed at several 4 star hotels).

I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for standards and value for money.

Great hotel in the middle of a busy area (bars, restaurants, casino, shopps), but also near the small beach. Even if the hotel is in a Bay Street shopping complex it was pretty quiet inside.

The room was spacious, modern and clean. The bed mattress was not comfortable, because the top part was constantly slipping. The bathroom is beautiful and modern, but the water from the shower ran on the bathroom floor, even through a closed cabin. Towels are changed daily, many toiletries. There was a kettle in the room, coffee, tea and drinking water. The air conditioner worked perfectly.
Wifi worked great both in the room and on the roof by the pool.

We lived on the 7th floor, with the bay view, but we did not see it because the balcony had a high wall, which blocked a great view. Maybe it’s done to reduce street noise?

Breakfast was nice with lots of choice for everyone (eggs, bacon, sausages, fresh vegetables, pancakes, fruits…).

Rooftop pool was amazing – great views and very relaxing. The bar on the roof terrace was good, delicious food and good cocktails.

It is great that after checking out you can still use pool and bar on the terrace.

Location is great for bars and restaurants, they are literally outside the door! the hotel in in a shopping complex with different, stall, shops and restaurants. Nightlife is hustling with lots of choice. The crowd is very young and there are lots of gentleman’s clubs that flood the streets by night with some forceful characters on their doors!

Hotel was really nice and out suite was gorgeous, small things like electric window blinds and large walk in shower make it feel more luxurious! Hotel reception staff were always helpful as were the restaurant staff. Breakfast was nice with lots of choice for everyone. Roof top pool was amazing and there were lots of available sunbed, I cannot fault the hotel at all.

Café del Mar in St Paul’s Bay is a must if you like good views, good food and drink although the music was pretty crap! (maybe im old) ha-ha. Our favorite meal and highly recommend is CAVIAR AND BULL in St Julian’s, the food was amazing and the staff were very professional and efficient. Spinola bay is also pretty at night and only a short walk from the hotel. Gululu is traditional food if you wants to try what the locals eat!

The beach at St Julian’s is small but not offensive at all and looks picturesque with all the boats in the harbor, we got a bus to Melliha bay it takes around 30 minutes, it is nice and much bigger with lots of water sport on offer.

Go on the Gozo trip if you like seeing some culture, mixed with some food tasting and a boat ride into the caves. lots of hopping on and off transport but it was well worth it.

The only downside for me was how dirty the streets were, they were pretty unkempt and spoilt the look but not a deal breaker, id definitely go back.

2. Hotel Juliani – Boutique Hotel 4* – Gay Friendly Hotels St Julian’s

Hotel Juliani - Boutique Hotel
Hotel Juliani – Boutique Hotel

Offering a rooftop terrace and pool, Hotel Juliani – Boutique Hotel has panoramic views across Spinola Bay. Set in an elegant town house on Saint Julian’s seafront, it offers free Wi-Fi and free parking.

Spacious, air-conditioned rooms at this boutique hotel include a minibar and a TV with satellite channels plus DVD player. Each private bathroom has soft bathrobes, hairdryer and free toiletries.

The on-site Zest restaurant specialises in European and Asian cooking, and includes a terrace bar. A continental buffet breakfast is served in the Juliani Cafe, which also offers light meals and snacks throughout the day.

The hotel is a 10-minute walk from the beach at Balluta Bay. Spinola bus stop is right outside with great connections around Malta.

Hotel Juliani, a 4 star hotel, is Malta’s small design boutique hotel enviably located in the heart of Spinola Bay, St Julian’s. In fact, you’re never more than 25 minutes away from most parts of the island, including the beautiful baroque capital of Valletta. Originally a traditional seafront townhouse, the Juliani has been meticulously converted to provide 47 rooms, an intimate setting and very personalised service to its guests. Today it remains a family-run establishment committed to ensuring you feel at home and well looked after.

Each hotel room offers excellent facilities, fresh Mediterranean decor and plenty of space. Many also boast unobstructed sea views, and you will be able to watch the colourful fishing boats bobbing on the water from the comfort of your balcony or the rooftop swimming pool. Meanwhile, as a cosmopolitan commercial and entertainment district, St Julian’s surrounds you with many of the best restaurants, bars, conference centres, casinos, health spas and shops that Malta has to offer.

his hotel is in a fantastic location. The local bus stop is right opposite and bars and restaurants literally a stone throw away. We visited most of the island and comparing some other resorts, we feel Spinola and this hotel was the best choice.

The hotel is modern and stylish. The rooms are spacious. The cleanliness is of a high standard too. It has a great gym and a gorgeous rooftop pool. The views are amazing. The staff are really friendly and always on hand to help or just have a chat.

Hotel Juliani – lovely views over the bay from the hotel (especially from the rooftop pool/deck) and our room was fantastic – designer suite with balcony overlooking the bay. The manager and staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and also quickly resolved a couple of issues with the room as it had just been newly renovated. The spa was excellent and we both had very good treatments there. The location was good – plenty of bars and restaurants and the hop-on-hop-off bus tours also had a stop directly opposite the hotel which made sightseeing really easy.

The room was large, beautifully furnished, lovely big bathroom and of course the highlight, the balcony with fantastic view of Spinola Bay. The rooftop bar and pool are absolutely gorgeous and never seems crowded with plenty of loungers both in the sun and the shade. Location is fantastic, in the heart of Spinola with bus route across the road, an easy walk to paceville and a large supermarket a couple of minutes walk away.

This fabulous hotel is located at the end of the Spinola arm of St Julian’s Bay, in the middle of a quite busy neighbourhood, well known for its many pubs and restaurants. We were looking for a small boutique hotel, and luckily managed to snag one of the last available rooms at Juliani’s for our days on Malta.

All the information on their website we can vouch for, and food and service were of the highest standard. Front desk staff even managed to find us a small rental car (with A/C!) on a Sunday, so we could tour around the Island.

Apart from the great and varied breakfast, the Hotel offers Malta’s first Asian Fusion restaurant “Zest”- for me it brought memories of Hong Kong and Vietnam.

Hotel as a pool on the roof, a gym and a restaurant but I did not use any of them (you get a 10% discount in the Zest restaurant which looks like it has a great menu but I didn’t get a chance to eat there. Breakfast area is quite small but I never had to wait for a table. Usual selection of hot and cold breakfast items – sausages slightly better than most hotels in Malta but still way short of an Irish breakfast sausage. Scrambled egg far too watery. Fresh coffee and orange juice very good.

Overall a really good choice for Malta – you are a few minutes walk to many good restaurants and bars. The are supermarkets close by and the sea literally a stone’s throw away. Hotel has good facilities and very good and friendly staff. Would definitely stay again.

The roof top pool and bar area is still lovely and is now slightly larger. Quiet, chilled and with views across Spinola Bat it’s a real suntrap.

We booked a double room with seaview and got upgraded to a brand new a junior Suite with seaview. Lovely new decor and layout and a large room (506) perfect to just sit and people watch from the balcony area. Fridge in the room so you can get some supplies and keep them cool and the bar area team were more than happy to supply ice.

The breakfast / reception area was still closed and had been moved to Zest restaurant- made no difference and was quite nice, I believe this area will be finished by the end of July. Breakfast excellent still with great choice and they can still make a great pot of tea!!

We ate in Zest restaurant on their balcony on the last night, chefs taster menu – lovely

The best thing about this hotel has always been the Staff and they are still all great – really nice and friendly, special mentions to Cristina and Manwell.

3. Holiday Inn Express – Malta 3* – LGBT Friendly Hotels St Julian’s

Holiday Inn Express – Malta

Just 120 m from St. George’s Bay beach, the Holiday Inn Express – Malta is located in St Julian’s. It offers free WiFi, an on-site bar and modern rooms with a satellite flat-screen TV.

All rooms at the Malta Holiday Inn Express come with air conditioning, a pillow menu and a USB charging station. The private bathroom has free toiletries and a hairdryer.

The daily buffet breakfast includes tea, coffee, pastries and cereal. There is also a 24-hour front desk at the hotel.

Stylish St. Julian’s hotel near the beach, with free Wifi and breakfast included Holiday Inn Express® Malta hotel is in the heart of the seaside town of St. Julian’s, only 18 minutes’ drive from Malta International Airport.

Two minutes’ walk from the hotel, you can sunbathe next to the sparkling Mediterranean Sea at sandy St. George’s Bay beach, while the nearby Bay Street Shopping Complex offers shops, restaurants and family entertainment, with a casino and a cinema next door.

Holiday Inn Express Malta Hotel is a nice four-star hotel in the heart of St. Julian’s, the most vivid part of Malta, convenient situated near the beach (StGeorge’s Bay) and about 18 km from Malta International Airport [the bus stop from the airport bus St. Julian’s (X2 & TD2) is close to the hotel] and with good bus connection to the old city of Valletta and Sliema ferries.

The Holiday Inn Express Malta Hotel is a colorful, modern designed, and nice hotel with very clean, bright and comfortable rooms [e.g. orthopedic betting with firm and soft pillows, a practical work desk (and enough bath amenities)].

I have noticed that the service of the staff (e.g. reception and restaurant) was outstanding (as they were polite, attentive.

I liked also very much the coffee and tea facilities in the room as well as the complimentary buffet breakfast [and also the environmentally friendly practices of the hotel (i.e. Green engage)] Throughout the hotel the WiFi was free and speedy.

Summing up I liked my stay at the Hotel Holiday Inn Express Malta and my stay was enjoyable (also good value for money that time) and I would stay again if I will be in Malta.

All the boxes ticked. Clean, absolutely spotless. Everything there, Tea and Coffee, Milk, why oh why do European hotels put out “English Breakfast Tea” then no bloody milk ! Iron and an Ironing board. TV and lots of well positioned power points ( English 3 pin in case you were wondering ) most with a couple of USB sockets. Oh how I do love free electricity.

Bed very comfortable, lightweight duvet and 2 types of pillow ( I think ) One of those lovely powerpoints by the side of the bed so easy to plug laptop in and work in bed 🙂

Bathroom as clean as the rest of the room. Towels all spotless and surprisingly fluffy with Dove wash liquid in dispensers by the sink and in the shower.

My room was at the back of the hotel and very quiet so even though I was slap bang in the middle of Malta’s nightlife I didn’t hear a thing and had a very peaceful night.

Reception bar and restaurant/cafe are all on the 8th floor, with a very pleasant terrace, not always the greatest view but you can see St Georges Bay Beach from the corner I picked.

Breakfast was served indoors and on the terrace. Everything you would expect, fresh fruits and cereals alongside a proper cooked breakfast three guesses which one I picked. Oh and yes all the pastries and breads to fill up properly.

As I said the hotels is right in the middle of a busy area, so a stone’s throw to a shopping centre, Costa , McD’s but there are plenty of more original places to eat nearby.

The hotels does not have a pool, though Hugo offers a day or evening pass to their pool area and I am sure there is a similar arrangement with the Intercontinental next door. Saying that you are less than 5 mins walk to the Beach……….. this really is a 2/3 min walk not brochure talk.

So if you don’t fancy the intercontinental prices but want to be slap bang in the middle of things. Then this is for you.
