Lesbiangaybisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights in the United States have evolved in recent decades. However, LGBT Americans may still face some legal and many social challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents, particularly in states with large conservative populations, such as in the Deep South; in rural areas; and in some Native American tribal nations.

U.S. federal law does not explicitly include protections against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. In June 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that sexual orientation and gender identity are included under “sex” as a prohibited ground of employment discrimination in the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Same-sex sexual activity is legal in Missouri. Missouri recognizes same-sex marriages.
Kansas City has a long history of being a  gay friendly town and in downtown we can find a few gay friendly bars as well as Bastille or Just John Club are the most famous gay bars in Kansas City, MO.
St. Louis is a major city in Missouri along the Mississippi River. Its iconic, 630-ft. Gateway Arch, built in the 1960s, honors the early 19th-century explorations of Lewis and Clark and America’s westward expansion in general. Replica paddlewheelers ply the river, offering views of the arch. The Soulard district is home to barbecue restaurants and clubs playing blues music.

Awesome old English style hotel. Roxie was great and gave us a very welcoming check in along with fast and friendly service. Very informative about the area. Lots of good places to eat and drink nearby. Including place that makes their own pasta right across the parking lot. Cool decor and great themed rooms. Has bikes and pool available during summer months.

Theme Hotel featuring 18th and 19th century English Authors.

As my Uber pulled up in front of the Cheshire St. Louis hotel I was a bit concerned. The hotel looks a little dated, and I was concerned that it would not measure up to my standards.
The hotel was wonderful. The staff could not have been more friendly or attentive to our needs. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and great shower.

The hotel is decorated with warm tones and quirky old English charm, staffed by equally warm and charming employees (Roxie is my personal favorite! Second to her would actually be their Spiced Vanilla candles lol). The beds are as comfortable and plush as a Hilton Inn, but the Hilton does not have the Fox and Hound bar nor does the Hilton name a room after the author of Winnie the Pooh.

There are more lavish themed suites, live jazz on weekends, a British cottage styled Starbucks like a one minute walk from the front door and two gastropubs next door. The bar even puts spices in the glasses of wine to enhance flavor, for heaven’s sake lol. Come for the décor, stay for the people and experience.

Charming surroundings and classic author-themed suites, large comfortable rooms, excellent food, and attentive, helpful staff. In the middle of great nightlife and city activities, a secret portal to an old English world where all guests are cared for like aristocrats. This wonderful place has become a St. Louis destination hotel for us.

The room was so unique and classy. We stayed in the Death on the Nile themed room and it was gorgeous! Easily the cleanest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The linen was soft and perfectly clean, room was spotless and comfortable. Staff was incredibly friendly, general manager was simply fantastic and terrifically accommodating. We are dinner at the attached Boundary restaurant and it was delicious, food was perfect with a cozy atmosphere. We had such a wonderful anniversary celebration this weekend and truly enjoyed our stay! Can’t wait to come back.

Great location and very friendly staff! Request a high floor and corner room overlooking the arch. The view is spectacular! The rooms are spacious and clean with huge windows.
The arch and park are right across the street.
Check out the riverwalk area with fun food and bars. The casino Lumiere is right around the block.
We ate at the Red Kitchen instead of Ruth Chris’s Steakhouse and the food was excellent! The best veal piccata I’ve ever had! The Brewhouse is really good too- and you can smoke at the bar after 4.
Valet park for $25 a day. Cabs are always waiting, but the metro is only a few blocks away and will take you from Illinois to the airport.
The Galleria Mall is big and has some great stores and is about 15 min on the metro. Tix are about $2 one way- but they don’t always seem to check them- strange.
Gay bars aren’t too far away and the hotel staff was very friendly toward us, though some of the guests seemed surprised to see 2 guys having fun 🙂
Check in was quick and easy. Lobby was very clean and luxurious. Restaurant and coffee bar available in the lobby. Room was very clean and well maintained. Shower was great. Bed and linen were very clean and fresh. Bed was very comfortable and provided a wonderful night of sleep. I had hoped for a room with a view of downtown St. Louis, but instead had a view of Illinois from across the Mississippi River. The breakfast buffet was a bit disappointing for the price. Not too many more choices than a typical hotel “continental” breakfast and the food was very bland.
Parking was not included in the hotel stay price. $30 plus tax for one night of parking in the hotel’s garage. Self parking should be included in the rate and you should only charge a surplus for valet parking. I can understand charging for parking in the garage for a non-guest, but it was the only parking provided by the hotel for guests. Location was great, the Gateway Arch is literally across the street from the hotel. Overall, great place to stay, but the price should have included breakfast and self parking to receive a 5 rating.

Clean rooms, good breakfast and very helpful staff. Pool was clean and well maintained. The location was a good spot for various and variety of restaurants in the area. Easy access of the Interstate and 15 minutes from Arch and downtown.
We were welcomed warmly by the front desk staff, introduced to the breakfast bar and shown where to park, etc. It is a little “funky” in the layout of the hotel, however. To access the 1st floor, you have to ride the elevator down to it! Then, to access the pool and lobby, etc you have to ride the elevator up to the main floor. Overall the room was good and clean, fairly spacious and beds were comfy.
We have stated at the Best Western St. Louis Inn for several years as it has become a regular stop during our travels. It is very convenient to the interstate which makes for an easy on and off access. It is in a quiet and safe area. The rooms are neat, clean and the beds are very comfortable for a good night’s sleep. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The morning breakfast is average, but plenty to eat to start you out on your day without having to leave the motel to eat.
We’ve stayed here several times as we like it’s location out of town and near the interstate. There are a few restaurants nearby but the only one in walking distance is Cracker Barrel. The rooms are equipped with a microwave and refrigerator, making it handy for leftovers. The breakfasts are pretty nice. Every morning we had eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy along with pancakes, waffles, bagels, toast and danish. It appears there have been some upgrades but we had a few issues.
The common areas were very chilly. We ended up not using the pool as we didn’t want to return to our room via the cool hallways. The beds were comfortable but they felt like they were on some type of loose base as the beds moved quite a bit as you rolled over in bed. There was plenty of hot water whether we took showers in the morning or evening. The staff was always pleasant and helpful. We will stay here again when visiting St. Louis.
