Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights in Greece have evolved significantly over the last years, establishing it as one of the most liberal countries in Southeast EuropeDiscrimination is not as common anymore, although LGBT people in Greece may still face social challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents. Despite this, Greek public opinion on homosexuality is generally regarded as culturally liberal,with same-sex unions being legally recognised since 2015.

Greece is one of Europe’s most popular LGBT tourist destinations, particularly its largest cities Athens and Thessaloniki as well as several of its islands. The gay scene of Mykonos is well-known, with many establishments catering for the LGBT community.Lesbos also is famous internationally for its lesbian scene in Eressos.

There is also a large gay scene in Thessaloniki with gay/lesbian bars/clubs and several friendly mixed venues, and several LGBT organisations. In June 2012, the city got its own annual pride event (Thessaloniki Pride).

Thessaloniki has a long history of being a  gay friendly resort and in downtown we can find a few gay friendly bars as well as Enola or  TS14-TRANSVESTITE BAR is the most famous gay place in Crete, Greece.

Thessaloniki is a Greek port city on the Thermaic Gulf of the Aegean Sea. Evidence of Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman history remains, especially around Ano Poli, the upper town. The ruins of Roman Emperor Galerius’ 4th-century palace include the Rotunda that has been both a church and a mosque. Much of the city center was destroyed in the Great Fire of 1917. The rebuilt 20th-century city has a modern European layout.

Fantastic hospitality (promptness, helpfulness, cheerfulness) across all members of staff – check in, concierge, from service. Easily one of my best hospitality experiences.

Property is also well landscaped and has very good facilities – a massive outdoor pool, indoor pool and spa. A squash court and tennis courts, with equipment included?! Don’t expect any of this from a ‘normal’ business hotel.

The location is close to the airport (<10 minute car ride) and about 25 minutes to the city centre. Complimentary shuttles to both the airport and the city are another sign of the hospitality focus of this hotel.

It isn’t too busy by the pool – there are plenty of sunbeds and parasols anyway. Food and cocktails aren’t cheap but it’s lovely having lunch by the pool! There’s also a DJ in the afternoon which was a nice touch!
There are 3 restaurants to eat in at the Hyatt and Ambrosia is the main one. It has a lovely terrace overlooking the pool area!

Thessaloniki is a 20 min drive from the hotel and the Hyatt provide free transport to and from – just make sure you book in with the concierge!

My boyfriend enjoyed working out in the morning in the fitness centre which has plenty of equipment, steam rooms, saunas, plunge pools, a heated indoor pool & whirlpool!

Hyatt lived up to my expectations. It’s like a resort with huge surroundings, beautiful pool and spacious rooms. Best to rent a car and blue car rental has an office about 300 yards from hotel. Thessaloniki city is about 25 minutes drive and traffic is easy to manage if you are driving. There is a decent cooked breakfast available at the hotel.

Outside area of the Restaurant faces the pool and it’s lovely to spend time in the area. Staff are all polite and helpful. Overall a great place to relax. Before booking I pondered about booking a hotel in city near to the seafront but decided on Hyatt looking at its pictures and beautiful grounds it was located. I am glad I stayed here. It’s not close to shops or city and be prepared to travel if you need shops or city. It’s 5-8 mins from airport and great to get to the airport.

This hotel is in the heart of Thessaloniki, in one of the most beautiful streets of the city, but still without noise. It is right next to Aristotelous square, and very close to the historic center of the city. The employees are very friendly. Breakfast is served on the top floor, but not necessarily included in the room price, since one has lots of different options in the area. Also, very close to the hotel there are many pretty inexpensive parking areas.

Very nice hotel in the heart of the city – close to every attraction. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. Safety guaranteed by key card opener for every door. We really loved the breakfast and their efforts to avoid plastic materials.

Delicious orange juice in bottles, butter, fresh cheese, fruit salad – all single packed in glass bowls – fantastic. Home made Sandwiches gave us a perfect start into the day… we will come back for sure.

The Modernist is a little hidden gem right in the heart of Thessaloniki! Beautiful and super clean rooms: xlarge rooms are ideal for families with small children! Excellent breakfast in a beautiful rooftop terrace: with an Ergon Foods menu! Super friendly and helpful staff: they helped us with everything we needed and asked for! Spot on location:right in the heart of the city!

The Modernist is located in the heart of the city. The most perfect location and close to everything in walking distance. The hotel and rooms are very chic and modern with distinct details and style.

The bed and pillows were amazing, the shower was out of this world and the terrace was lovely!

The rooftop breakfast room was terrific and the breakfast buffet was delicious and visually appetizing as well.

Most importantly the service of every single staff worker was above and beyond. Every single request I made was met and delivered quickly and with a smile.

I loved my stay at the Modernist and hope to stay there again in the future.

I highly recommend this hotel also because the price is super fair and you receive much more than you expected.

The location is in the heart of the city, near Aristoteles square. The room was very tidy, clean with comfortable bed. It’s equipped with refrigerator, capsule coffee maker, LED tv, deposit box.

The bathroom was very comfortable, and you can get the hot water in no time, unlike the other hotel which have to wait around 3-5 minutes.

The internet access (wifi) was extremely very fast, a high speed one! I don’t taste the breakfast but i believe they serve tasty foods along with the beautiful scenery from the balcony.

They don’t have laundry service and the gym is in different facility, have to pay for daily usage.

Overall, it is a pleasant stay in Greece with this hotel as your homestay. Well done The Modernist.

An ideal choice for anyone who visits the city for personal or business purposes, looking for a friendly, quiet and cozy environment.

Caravan is the place to be in Thessaloniki, a superb hotel/b&b , central location, very nice atmosphere, comfortable and with a special look, the decoration is very nice and authentic and special.. eyes for details.

Everything was great, from the warm welcome, the assistance with parking the car in the nearby Garage,to the careful attention for corona-measures without feeling stressed and the delightful breakfast.. not to mention the choose- your-pillow-menu.

This boutique hotel is really one of its kind, we really loved it! Each piece of furniture is unique and the rooms, the cafe and all the spaces are decorated with great taste. We really loved the so many decorative details, all vividly and cheerful. The decoration itself can lift your mood up. The location is great, very central, a stone’s throw from restaurants, bars, shops, everything you need.

Everything was clean and there is a pillow menu you can choose from. The breakfast has great variety, too. Last but not least, the friendly and enthusiastic staff, always there to provide helpful suggestions or just ask how your day is going. Definitely our favorite in Thessaloniki, will visit again.

One of the best experiences! Extra polite and friendly staff, cozy place, convenient location. Everyone was so helpful from the first minute of our arrival. The rooms were nice, well decorated, sparkly clean and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast had a huge variety of things to try plus the all day cafe in the reception was a nice place to rest after walking all day around the city. Totally recommend it.

The staff was superb – they gave us useful information and recommendations about the city and the area. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel has an elevator, and there are free mineral water bottles in the room. The hotel is located in a quiet small street, very close to the market and to the center. There is a parking place just in front of the hotel. When we left the hotel – we found a temporary parking place just in front of the lobby. The lobby is cute, and all the pace is very well decorated. The beds and the toilet are comfortable.

The price of this hotel is a little bit higher than other such places, but it worth it, as the level of this place is very high.

Located in the heart of old Thessaloniki, the Caravan welcomed us with open arms , and a cooling drink ! Each member of the team ensured we were well looked after and gave us loads of information on what to see and where to eat. They even contacted us in advance of arrival to give us a choice of pillows ! The room was light and airy, the furnishings were quirky and retro and the bed ( plus pillows) was fabulous. Breakfast, too, was tasty and was continually topped up with fresh items.
