Santiago is the capital city of Chile and a is one of the gay-friendliest place in South America along with Valparaiso on the chilean coast. We will find most of the accomodation to be suitable for gay couples in Gay Friendly Hotels Vina del Mar.
The LGBT community in Chile has gained some rights in recent years. In 2012 it was approved the anti-discrimination law that includes sexual orientation and gender identity as protected categories. The law penalizes the arbitrary discrimination, allows citizens to file anti-discrimination lawsuits and requires the State to develop public policies to end discrimination.

Welcoming, pleasant, unique, and contemporary; this is how we are. Our charm can be felt in the ambiance and on the walls decorated with the fineness of modern art: original oil paintings and engravings of important Chilean artists. Our warm hospitality reflects on every detail, in the quality of our attention, and in the dedication and comfort we offer.Something more? We have the best location: the perfect combination for the best price.
The location could not be more convenient and the hotel is very comfortable. Spotless room, superbly comfortable bed and linens, ample breakfast buffet included in room rate (eggs are extra). Many restaurants within comfortable walking distance, including the wonderful Divino Pecador, just around the corner. (Our best meal in Vina.) Taxi stand and horse carriage starting point are at the corner, as is the casino, a beautiful local landmark.
Not the largest room in the world, but it was comfortable, had a queen-sized bed, a clean bathroom, and everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I noticed that the temperature in Vina Del Mar was about 10 degrees cooler than in Santiago. I mention this, because the room I was in did not have any air-conditioning, but it was cool enough at night where it wasn’t an issue. The only issue was that the window to my room faced out to the front of the hotel and it was somewhat noisy at night, even at 2am when I finally tried to go to bed after our night out. My friend had a room that faced the rear of the hotel and he didn’t have any noise complaints, so keep that in mind when booking.
A huge PLUS…free wifi was available. Why more hotels don’t do that is beyond me.
There’s a small area as you walk to your room that is used for breakfast in the morning. Expect a continental breakfast. Nothing fancy but you can get cereal, toast, yogurt, coffee, juice, cheeses, meats, etc. Everything you need to get your day started.
It is true, this hotel boasts a tremendous location. Essentially, you’re right on the southern end of Avenida Peru, which extends north to the entire length of the beach area of Vina Del Mar. Also, you’re literally just a stone’s throw from the Hotel Del Mar Casino, which is ultra-convenient. There are tons of restaurants, outdoor shops, and markets for your convenience. I woke up Saturday morning around 7:30 am, and the entire waterfront belonged to me. Not a soul was out except for the occasional runner or gaggle of stray dogs.
If you’re looking for a decent place to stay in a convenient location at a decent price, then this is the place for you. Sure, it was a bit noisy at night, but next time I’ll just get a room at the rear of the hotel and I’ll be happy. Book with confidence.

Our hotel in Vina del Mar, Chili is located a little over an hour from Santiago and is near a combination of stunning architecture, breathtaking coastline, vibrant culture, delicious cuisine and dynamic nightlife in the the city. There are entertainment alternatives all year long close to our accommodations.
The hotel is pretty well located. if you walk east for 5 minutes you’ll get to the “Reloj de las Flores” where you can take public transportation to several spots of the city and downtown. If you walk like 15 minutes south, you’ll get to the metro station, which will take you to Valparaiso in a 10 minute ride. If you walk north like 10 minutes you’ll get to Av. San Martin and Av. Peru, which is the tourist area of Vina del mar, with lots of restaurants, bars, the casino and all the nightlife.
To the west is the ocean, and I have to say that all the rooms facing the ocean have balconies with amazing views! You can just sit down to enjoy the sunset in the balcony with a glass of wine every single evening. (please book an ocean view).
The wifi signal was good at the common areas and at the room too, and the speed was pretty decent, which I was really happy about since not everywhere you get this network quality.
The better views are on the higher floors- request it! All the rooms seem to have a view of the ocean, so I would advise staying on either side of the hotel versus the middle oceanfront if you want to see something other than the ocean. (The hotel butts right up to the ocean so the shoreline and beach views are on the sides and NOT front middle like most hotels)
The hotel bed/pillows were very comfortable. We had a little balcony off our room that that we could have sat on, however the chairs didn’t look very comfortable and were very low to the ground. We did enjoy opening the patio door to hear the waves or to go out there and stand to enjoy the air, beautiful views and sounds. The hotel room is furnished more like a 4 star instead of a U.S. 5 star, but that seems to be the case in South America.
An easy walk to restaurants and shopping this beautiful hotel was a great find. The hotel jets out into the ocean, giving the impression that you are sitting in the sea. Waves crash onto (and over) the sides of the pool deck as you relax in the comfortable patio loungers and chairs. The staff at this hotel were courteous and professional and very attentive to whatever it was we needed.
Located in the hotel was an ATM machine that had security close by, allowing the hotel guest to bank without worry. At night the view from our room (we looked out onto the public beach with Valparaiso in the distance) was spectacular! Waves were crashing onto the sandy beach with a thunderous roar. We could have spent hours watching them.
The restaurants in the hotel served very good food, in particular the brunch. If you are planning a cruise out of Valparaiso, the Sheraton is the perfect place to stay before or after you set sail as it is a close and reasonably priced taxi ride away. This hotel was well worth the price and will be one that we will definitely return to on our next trip to Chile.
The room was spacious with a balcony and chairs to enjoy the view. The LCD TV, with a swivelling arm, had many channels, including several in English. The bed was comfortable and the climate control worked well. The large wooden closet had a large safe and more than ample space for many clothes.
The modern marble bathroom, with separate enclosed shower (featuring overhead shower head as well as hand shower) and bathtub, was simply heavenly. Included amenities included bubble bath, conditioner, shampoo, body lotion, and hair dryer.
The fitness centre on the lower floor had high-end treadmills and elliptical overlooking the ocean. Next to the exercise room was a dance studio where classes are offered. A small pool area with adjacent whirlpool tubs was also available on the same floor. The second floor had a business centre which was pay per use; however, in the evenings, I think the front desk staff will log you in to use the Internet for free.
The included breakfast was of good size and quality and included tea and coffee, juices, yogurt, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, hash browns, fresh cut-up fruits, desserts, plus a variety of cold cuts, breads (including warm croissants), cereals, and cheeses. There was an omelette station but nobody was operating it (perhaps it was too early) and I didn’t bother to ask about it. The restaurant faces the ocean as well – what a great way to enjoy breakfast!

3. Best Western Marina del Rey 4* – Gay Friendly Hotels Vina del Mar Chile
Located in Viña del Mar city centre, this 4-star hotel is just 100 m from Miramar metro station. It offers a gym, free WiFi throughout and free private parking. The nearest beach is just a 15-minute walk away.
Rooms at the Best Western Marina del Rey include flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a minibar, a work desk and a private bathroom. Some rooms also feature a spacious seating area.
Guests of the Best Western Marina del Rey can enjoy local cuisine at the restaurant, as well as hot and cold drinks at the bar.
Conveniently located in the midtown and business area of Viña Del Mar, within walking distance to the beaches of Caleta Abarca, famous Casino Municipal, promenades, Calle Valparaiso and Avenue Peru. We feature comfortable, spacious, quiet guest rooms with climate control, color cable television with CNN and movies, a hairdryer, as well as room service. In addition, the BEST WESTERN Marina Del Rey offers a restaurant with complimentary full breakfast, lounge, safe deposit boxes, electronic key cards.
This hotel turned out to be a great choice in location. Being on a main avenue there are a great many public transit options with a large number of bus routes stopping in front of the hotel and the light rail Valparaiso Metro Miramar Station is only a block away. We used the inexpensive, safe feeling, and simple to navigate Metro to travel repeatedly to Valparaiso. Also only a block from this hotel is a grocery store, BCI bank with ATMs, and a great, inexpensive laundry that washes and folds your clothes in the same day if you turn them in just after they open at 10am. Plus the hotel is walking distance to a few museums and the famous “flower clock.”
The hotel itself is quite nice, with english speaking, very friendly staff. The hotel restaurant provides a great buffet breakfast and we found both the lunch and dinner offerings reasonably priced and quite tasty. There are also really good nearby restaurants. Our room had excellent housekeeping service and plenty of European style 220 VAC electrical outlets, plus the operable windows allowed for fresh air.
There are few hotels in Valparaiso (the port city) but Vina del Mar is a beach resort effectively joined on to Valparaiso and only 10 minutes by taxi or metro train.
The Marina del Rey in on a corner block on the main street and about a 10 minute walk from the beach. There are also plenty of restaurants within an easy walk. The hotel is a typical Best Western – modern, clean, well appointed, decent sized rooms, good bathroom, good facilities. (It serves the business community as well as the tourist sector).
Apart from one (much more) expensive beachfront hotel next to the Casino, we thought that the Marina del Rey was the best hotel we saw in Vina del Mar and we would be very happy to stay there again.
Price withstanding, it’s a standard BW — clean, quiet, spacious, polite staff, free breakfast (fresh fruit, eggs, an abundance of bread/pastries, bacon, yogurt, juices, lunch meat). Our room was HUGE! Rooms had robes, standard toiletries, blowdryer, refrigerator, and lots of outlets. Staff was friendly, although, unlike other hotels in central Chile, not all the front staff spoke English.
