Lovely location. Very central yet close to Oriental Bay and the beach. Nice little balcony with beautiful views of the harbour.
QT is located close to Te Papa Museum on the waterfront near Oriental Bay, so walking distance to many centrally located shops and attractions.
The service from the moment you arrive is exceptional from Concierge, through Reception and the Restaurants, and the housekeeping staff are also polite and helpful, which is a rare thing.
The management team bent over backwards to accommodate our requests and nothing was too much trouble. We even found a gift in our room with a lovely card to help celebrate our anniversary, which made our stay even better.
The hotel itself is unique in its furnishings from lobby through to the rooms and the feel is luxurious and quirky with great artwork throughout.
Breakfast is equally amazing, so for us QT is always our go to for an unforgettable experience.
Location
The QT is located in the Te Aro district of downtown Wellington. Though it’s a bit of a hike to the CBD, the Oriental Bay boardwalk and famous Cuba Street are both within easy reach. And of course the Te Papa Museum is directly across the street, as was a Sunday pop-up produce market in the parking lot beside it.
Breakfast
Breakfast at the QT is served in Hippopotamus, the third floor restaurant. If you’re concerned about the gaudy trimmings and uncomfortable-looking chairs that you see online, fear not: that’s a separate part of the restaurant near the bar.
The breakfast buffet spread has all the basics covered. Cold items include fruit salad, salad salad, yogurt, bircher muesli, chia pudding, toast and pastries; scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, bacon, sausage, fried mushrooms and stewed tomatoes await you at the hot table. The buffet also includes drip coffee and fruit smoothies, and there’s an à la carte menu for additional items.
The salad and pastries were changed up a bit during our stay; everything else stayed the same. We had no complaints about this, as everything was quite tasty!
The cool, art gallery feel has been enhanced and the renovations have made the rooms more luxurious. Some of the hotel’s minor quirks have been done away with and the result is much improved. It’s probably the classiest hotel in the city now.
It’s in a fabulous location – the suites with balconies have fantastic views over the harbour, and big windows to enjoy it through. The hotel close to everything downtown in Wellington yet still feels secluded. Te Papa is just across the road and Oriental Bay is around the corner. And the sea air makes the rooms feel fresh and light.
The pool and fitness room is clean and well maintained.

The location is great right in town, close to the airport bus drop off on Lambton Quay and only a couple of blocks from the waterfront. The room had everything we needed a large bed, good shower, fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. The staff were friendly and efficient.
The buffet breakfast were amazing so many choices, cereals, fruit, pastries, smoothies and all your usual cooked breakfast choices, just to name a few. Even freshly made pancakes on request!
About 15 mins from airport, located in the CBD area. Location is superb!
Room was very spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom however is small but the water pressure in the shower is high. Room had coffee machine with variety of capsules.
Subway and restaurants are nearby, shopping all around, Wellington Museum is just 5 mins walk, Te Pa Pa Museum is about 10-15 mins walk. The train station is about 10 mins away
Ibis Wellington is in a great location making it easy to get around Wellington city.
The hotel room we had was a standard room and was clean and tidy. Staff were helpful and friendly.
The location is excellent and easily accessible to most places of interest. The room was clean and cosy – it’s not elaborate or flashy, but it’s not meant to be. Also, considering Wellington accommodations are normally very expensive, this was rather affordable for the quality.
Service is impeccable and as a member of Accor Plus, I am treated to a Welcome drink in the intimate bar on the ground floor. A Welcome card also awaits one in the room.which is presented well and caters to one’s every need. For example, the internet service is both free and high-speed.
For the business person and traveller alike, I can recommend the Ibis Wellington as a central hotel which is close to the heart of our capital city. One can go by foot to all that is offered in the CBD.

It is super central and within walking distance to all the best shops, restaurants and bars ? The front door literally opens out onto Courtney Place. And yet the room was very quiet. It was also well appointed for a studio, with ample room to move around, minimal furniture and a large comfortable bed. Good sized TV and handy clock/phone charger beside bed. Great night views of the city too. The bathroom has been recently renovated and is stylish, and although some people may not love the frosted glass privacy screens, we didn’t mind a bit 🙂 Great water pressure in the shower too! The included breakfast was pretty good – lots of choice – and the restaurant is a pleasant, modern space to start the day 🙂
Great location with nice cosy rooms, no windows though, but clean and well presented in a great location within walking distance to everything you need, was the perfect place to stay for the night in the city.

This was a great place to stay while we were sightseeing in Wellington. The front desk staff were very friendly upon check-in. They were kind enough to inform us there was less expensive parking across the street with self park instead of forcing their valet parking. Our room was very spacious with a firm bed and comfortable pillows. It was very quiet and we only heard a couple of doors closing. It is in more of a business district but within walking distance of several restaurants. It’s a bit farther to other shopping and more restaurants but we do a lot of walking so it wasn’t a problem for us. The hotel is also located close to the botanical garden and we had a wonderful walk through there.
Laundry! Dishwasher, pots and pans! Lovely view of the old cemetery through huge windows in 2 rooms. Staff very pleasant and helpful. BUT: not enough desk staff to answer phones, or just be present at reception. Restaurant breakfast buffet extensive but hot food not hot. No safe in our room, but in others (huh?). Dinner food, fish especially, over- cooked. Very convenient to shops, and botanical garden walk down from cable car. Gay friendly for sure.
Very centrally located, yet with lovely views over the hills. Within 5 minutes walk of the railway station, main government and architecturally-interesting buildings, and the lovely botanical gardens. Large, luxurious and comfortable rooms with good air-conditioning/heating and plenty of seating. Great bathrooms and an efficient little kitchenette. Fantastic picture windows. Good beds and a quiet night.
Pros: The location is great (in the CBD near the Botanical Garden and close to the waterfront). The room was spacious, modern, and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
This is a lovely, comfortable, well-run hotel and a pleasure to have visited. The location is just a short walk from the train station and also Queen’s Wharf where so much of the action is. The service was excellent and professional, save for an argumentative waitress at the Bar who contradicted my husband when he said his wine was corked. Also a very short walk to the Botanical Gardens! Highly recommend.

This hotel is very well located in the CBD.
It is great has it has a basic kitchenette (ie microwave) but room service too so you can eat in room if you choose.
The bathroom is tiny and the shelves unhelpful for unpacking toiletries, makeup etc but I made it work.
Very comfortable bed and chairs, unfortunately my room had a massive pillar in the middle of it which made it visually displeasing.
Location of hotel is perfect for shopping and only a short walk to restaurants.
he location is great for accessing key aspects of the city (Parliament, harbor, restaurants, shopping) and there are many nice features (in room kitchenette, free laundry facilities on each floor, interesting and ample breakfast choices, helpful front desk) to this hotel.
If you want a hotel experience *right* in the middle of Wellington, but also want some comforts of having a small kitchen, this hotel is a great choice. Great value, fantastic location, helpful staff, and we loved the view over the harbour.
Pillow menu was available, but I was happy with the comfortable pillows.
Free WiFi is a plus and good choice of tv channels. The hotel also has a restaurant on the 3rd floor and we had dinner there on our first night. It was very good and fairly priced.
The concierge service was excellent, friendly and helpful. Hotel is close to shops and there is a supermarket within walking distance if you want snacks. It’s also only a 5 minute walk to the waterfront.
The room was smallish but very well appointed with a massive shower cubicle. The decor was fresh and clean and the layout of the room didn’t make it feel small at all. The bed was extremely comfortable and they had a pillow menu to inform you of the different types of pillow that were on the bed.
