An Urban Hotel In The Heart Of China’s Culture And Tradition Gran Melia Xi’an, a spectacular Spanish luxury hotel with exceptional facilities and a unique service, is designed to meet travelers’ every need. Located in Qu Jiang New District, next to Tang Paradise and facing Nanhu Lake, Gran Melia Xi’an is within a short 10 minute walk from the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which is recognized as one of Unesco’s world heritage sites. The hotel blends Chinese cultural and historical heritage with decor rich in contrast. It combines both traditional luxury with surprising avant-garde Gran Melia Hotels and Resorts’ touches.
The location was in a quieter part of town than near the old city but near a large and major Xi’an site, Wild Goose Pagoda, lots of restaurants, and the metro (the best way to get around).
The room was beautiful and had a better layout than other hotel rooms (the dimensions were longer from door and window).
The only drawback is its proximity to the old city. It is a little way out from the action, but there is still a lot of other shops and restaurants nearby. Given the cost of taxi is pretty cheap it really boils down to travel time.
The rooms are gorgeous, and the service impeccable, especially at the Red level. The buffet breakfast included a good selection of Chinese and European-style food, and the complimentary afternoon tapas available on the 5th floor added a nice touch. The location is not close to the old city centre, but it’s within walking distance of the Great Wild Goose Pagoda, with lively street life nearby, especially in the evenings.
If you happen to stop in Xian do not hesitate to visit this new, modern and stylish hotel. You will not regret. It has everything you need, no matter whether you are in a business or leisure trip.
This hotel hosts a combination of east and west. You will find it in the food, in the furnishing, in the way of doing. You will also feel a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, far away from the crowded city center.
Before booking this hotel we had doubt because it wasn´t located inside the old city wall. But after our experience it has really been our best decision. That is the reason why we highly recommend it. We had felt in a Oasis after our mid-tourism trip.
Located in the chic-modern district of Qu Jiang this hotel is only 10 minutes taxi (20CNY)to the old city. Surrounded by gardens has got also a shopping area as well as a food court, all of it set up in low buildings according to the area design.
–Rooms: very spacious, top comfort, huge bathroom, work-table, minibar, coffee machine, light system very suitable all set up in an eastern-western comfortable way.
Restaurants: There are 3 restaurants. A smart chinese one, a very good coffee-shop (with a huge buffet) and a spanish one led by a very professional spanish cook.(We recommend you trying it). Food stuffs are all first quality. Prices are reasonable. Spanish wine is also available and affordable. There are also some quiet places to have a drink in a nice atmosphere.
–Fitness: enormous and clean swimming pool, jacuzzis (private and public) and first brands for the exercise machines.
The open buffet for breakfast is extensive and delicious with many made to order items including pastries, soups, sushi, salads, fruit, wok dishes, eggs of all types cooked to order and many other items. There is an elegant bar in the main entry area with comfortable seating surrounding a pretty pond and live piano bar. Suitable for both business and vacation times. Would definitely come back for another visit!

The hotel is perfectly well located within the wall with a myriad of restaurants, shops, bars etc in the vicinity. The lobby is a wow with great tang dynasty style furniture and decoration. We had an executive room facing the quiet courtyard. The room is big and nicely appointed with lots of tang style decoration and furniture. The large and beautiful bathroom has all amenities you need, separate shower and toilet. The bed is very comfortable. The exec lounge is beautiful and spacious and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Food is good, service is friendly and attentive. There is a large selection of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages available. Coming back from the busy city the lounge is a great place to relax. The spa area is beautiful with an extra large indoor pool and a decent sauna. All staff in the hotel is friendly and greatly service oriented.
Location wise we found this was fine. A 30 minute walk to Drum Tower, Bell Tower and the Muslim Market to give you bearings. There is public transport and a tube station near by. Near to the East entrance to the wall. A taxi is about an hour to the airport.
Location is good, across the road there are plenty food to choose. Very yummy various food wherever we eat and very very cheap. But the hotel is not close to any tourist attraction, you need to catch taxi. Bus is available, but it is not easy to figure it out. Taxi is better option because it is so cheap in Xi’an. Taxi to Xi’an station is 10 yuan, from station you can catch bus to Terracotta.
The beautiful lobby, the modern and comfortable suite – we were upgraded as recognition for Gold Hilton Honors status – the incredible breakfast buffet, the location… This hotel left a strong impression on this savvy traveler.
But it’s the service that makes the biggest impression. Everyone is willing to help and nothing is too much for them. To make their guests happy is their ultimate goal and it shows.
Buffet breakfast and dinner was excellent as all the other previous reviewers said. The old city wall is within 5 minutes of walk, a food market full of old traditional small restaurants is also within 5 minutes of walk.

Great location – can walk to the Bell Tower and South Gate of Xi’an City walls very easily. Also within 5mins walk of 2 metro stations. Very convenient, safe and lots of local shops and attractions.
Location of the hotel is perfect, it is close to the South Gate and a plaza. There are night time light shows. Hotel is within walking distance to shopping malls and restaurants. It is 5 min walk to the SKP mall, a tower with many high end restaurants offering night view of the South Gate, yet not expensive. Most importantly, the hotel entrance is on the main street, therefore safe.
The location is great. A lot of shops nearby, some restaurants, two shopping malls, bus stop and a subway station. Really very convenient, and all the taxi drivers know the hotel. Room was okay, it was cleaned every day, Bad is big and also alright. The price in general is okay, but on national holidays the price doesn’t match the quality – too high for this hotel.

Very nice furniture and thoughtful details. The location is also great, near the walls and plenty of bars and attractions. Need to love cats and dogs here since there’s plenty of them.
This is such a wonderful hotel. They are welcoming and warm, from the minute you walk in the door you’re greeted by lovely dog and cute kitties. They employ deaf/ mute staff which I think is wonderful. The bed is the absolute comfiest bed ever. It was my birthday while I stayed and I was surprised with a cake and rooftop drinks., which was fantastic as I was travelling solo and it was just such a surprise. The atmosphere and people are just so wonderful and warm and I love it.
