The staff make me feel like family, it’s centrally located, gay friendly, the breakfast is great (served by the lovely THAO) and the rooms good value for money.

The management and staff at Canary Saigon make you feel right at home: lovely homely breakfast and great location mean this is the obvious choice for singles or couples, gay straight or trans, older traveller or young backpackers-The owners are delightful and knowledgeable about the local area.
It’s my third time here and I can’t wait to come back for my fourth.

The Canary Saigon Hotel (formerly known as Pink Tulip)  is an excellent budget option. Located very centrally, with lots of good bars, restaurants and tourist sights nearby.

Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Upon arrival we were given a helpful local map with recommendations and information.

The breakfast is basic, but very tasty (the only place we found in Vietnam who got the idea of sunny side up fried eggs!)

Gay owners, so very LGBT+ friendly… including a lovely collection of photos of LGBT+ Vietnamese people in the reception area.

To be clear, this is not a luxury hotel. However, it is excellent value for money… perfect for travellers looking for a clean and central base from which to explore the city. We recommend it.

2. Nam Chau Boutique Resort 2*  – – Vietnam Gay Resorts

Nam Chau Boutique Resort - Mui Ne Passion

Set in a 3-hectare garden, Nam Chau Boutique Resort – Mui Ne Passion offers peaceful and comfortable accommodation with free WiFi access in its public areas. It features an outdoor pool, beautifully-landscaped gardens and free parking on site.

Bamboo materials and thatched roofs add a rustic feel to the air-conditioned villas. Each villa includes a wardrobe, seating area, a minibar and a TV with cable channels. Offering shower facility, the attached bathroom also comes with slippers, towels and free toiletries.

Fluently conversed in Vietnamese and English, staff at the 24-hour front desk can assist you with a variety of services, such as luggage storage, laundry, bicycle rental, airport transfers and shuttle services. Other facilities at the resort include a watersports centre which provides rental service and training courses for kiteboarding, surfing, jet-ski and paddle boarding (SUP).

The Nam Chau Boutique Resort – Mui Ne Passion has recently changed ownership and the rooms were renovated in April 2017. The Nam Chau is the place to go for active people. During the windy months, our activities director offers water sports activities, such as kite surfing, windsurfing, kayaking and jet skiing. During the summer months, we have jet skis, surfboards and kayaks for use by our guests. On the beach and in our garden, we organize volleyball and football games. The Nam Chau Boutique Resort is a rustic traditional Vietnamese style resort, located on a pristine white sand beach on the east side of the cape of Mui Ne.

The market in the center of Mui Ne, a fishing town with about 25,000 residents, is on the west side of the cape and is just over one kilometer from the entrance of the Nam Chau. The famous red sand dunes are a five minute walk in the opposite direction. The ambience of the Nam Chau Mui Ne Beach Resort is the very definition of paradise. It has been built within a beautiful three hectare tropical garden. With its many varieties of tropical flowers and plants, combined with the sound of waves gently washing ashore, the feeling is one of peace and tranquility. Our rustic bungalows, houses and rooms with thatched roofs blend with the natural setting with dozens of coconut palm trees to create an environment that is both pleasant and serene.

We stayed here in January and it was pretty quiet but the weather was brilliant. Blue skies and warm, perfect weather to lounge by the pool and go for a swim. This place is the ideal spot for water sports like kitesurfing and windsurfing, as well as those wanting to kick back and relax by the pool. The bungalow we stayed in was airy and comfortable, had a good shower and A/C. The breakfast is Vietnamese style which took getting used to but adds to the authenticity of the resort and its restaurant. The menu has plenty of Asian and Western options. I would recommend this place for tourists travelling around Vietnam who want a peaceful and relaxing getaway by the beach.

Cottages were spotless and cleaned everyday. We had a two person double and a triple for the teenagers. Spacious with private showers. Air conditioning in both. Really good value and the even better value shared rooms looked pretty good too.

Breakfast was included and had plenty of variety. Lunches were good and cheap if you stuck to the local food and Happy Hour runs at about 35 pence (UK) for a beer. We ate out in the evenings with a cheap taxi ride down to Mui Ne strip for plenty of options. Pool was clean and well kept as was the beach in front of the hotel.

Rooftop bar is worth a visit with a happy hour from 16:00-18:00, and a pool on the first floor. Ideal base for exploring.

Great hotel, noisy street but we heard very little from our room overlooking the street and river. Fantastic buffet breakfast with local and international choices including cereal, toast, croissants, eggs, veggies and bacon.

Room: our room was beautiful!! The bed was huge and AC worked great in the heat. Pillows also were comfortable.

Service: Pool was clean and much needed in the heat. The pool was not too deep (about 5 ft). The roof top had a great view of the river and walking bridge. My only complaint was the gym because of the broken equipments. We couldn’t get 1 out of 2 treadmills and AC to work properly.

Location: awesome location! The hotel is right across from the river with boat cruises and floating market services. It is also a 5 minutes walk from the night market for street food and shopping. You can find a variety of food in this area from tourist/ western style restaurants to very local restaurants.

4. Avani Quy Nhon Resort 4* – Vietnam Gay Resorts

Avani Quy Nhon Resort

Situated along the private Bai Dai Beach, award-winning Avani Quy Nhon Resort features rooms with minimalist design and balconies with sea views. An outdoor cliff-top restaurant is offered.

Avani Quy Nhon Resort’s rooms feature open spaces and calming colours. Rooms are generously equipped with flat-screen TVs, minibar and tea/coffee makers. Marble/tiled floors and a sea-facing seating area provide guests with a tranquil experience.

Guests can enjoy kayaking and watersports on the private beach, or take a refreshing swim in the pool. The spa offers wellness and massage services.

TRE Restaurant, situated atop a cliff, serves the best of Eastern and Western cuisine and seafood, while GIO Bar and Lounge offers coffee, snacks and tropical cocktails.

Sheltered by a private golden beach and soaring cliffs, Avani Quy Nhon Resort offers a tropical beach and spa retreat generous in spirit and beauty. Muted shades of mint and white with splashes of aubergine of each of the 63 room and suites offer a soothing palette and contemporary comforts.

The rooms are open & spacious with curtains separating the shower, washing & toilet area. Each room has a terrace which faces out to the beach & sea.

The breakfast buffet is fine with Vietnamese & continental dishes, made to order eggs & coffee.

The beach is beautiful, clean & easily accessible from the rooms. They have a small pool & other facilities.

A 5 minute walk northwards along their stretch of Bai Xep beach you will find the fishing village of Khu Vuc 1 with fresh seafood cooked & served at tables along the beach as well as a couple of beachside restaurants.

Quy Nhon city is a 20 minute drive from the hotel. There are Champa temples & ruins throughout the region.

The beach at Avani is private and the water in the sea wasn’t rough, so it was perfect. It was one of the nicest beaches we’ve visited in Vietnam.

The breakfast buffet has a lot of options and the food was tasty. During one of our nights we walked over to the Anantara Resort (same
hotel group as Avani) restaurant next door called Sea, Fire, Salt, and the food was incredible.

The staff at Avani made us feel right at home and the service levels were at their highest. Our stay was made even more enjoyable by Duc, the relationship manager, who went above and beyond to ensure we were well taken care of.

The rooms are beautiful, the balconies are a good size and directly viewing the ocean. The private beach and sun loungers are lovely. Beach service for food/drinks is also good. There are a couple of beach bars/restaurants less than 10 mins walk from the hotel, along the beach, which are both really good for cheaper food and drinks and if you’re like us, it’s nice to leave a resort and try out other places.

The room was clean and elegantly decorated. Beach and pool were clean too and we had enjoyable breakfast buffets and other meals at Sandals Restaurant.

The resort is incredibly beautiful, with a stunning swimming pool opening on the beach, a very nice restaurant area and a lovely little Spa. The bungalow we stayed in was fantastic, with comfortable beds and beautiful interiors, and an amazing outdoor shower and bathtub. The palm trees and the flowers that surround every bungalow make the resort look like a hidden oasis, and it’s just the most relaxing place ever.

The staff were lovely, very friendly and attentive, and they really made us feel welcome and taken care of. Nikki was so incredibly lovely, always finding the time to stop and ask us about our day and making sure we were having the best possible experience.
The food and drinks were great, always delicious and also very healthy. We did an excursion to the Fairy Stream and Desert Dunes and we loved it. It was super easy to book at the resort Reception, and everything was perfectly organised.

The boutique hotel features a concierge and room service. Plus, guests can enjoy breakfast, which has made this a popular choice among travelers visiting Hue.

Close to some of Hue’s most popular landmarks, such as Huyen Tran Princess Temple (0.2 mi) and Hue Royal Palace (0.5 mi), The Scarlett Boutique Hotel is a great destination for tourists.

While in Hue be sure to experience local tempura favorites at Take Japanese Restaurant.

There is no shortage of things to do in the area: explore popular architectural buildings such as Thien Mu Pagoda and Dieu De Pagoda.

We’re sure you’ll enjoy your stay at The Scarlett Boutique Hotel as you experience all of the things Hue has to offer.

Scarlett is slightly tucked away from the major street but located at a great location. The staff was professional and kept things clean. The hallways between the rooms was a little tight but the room was spacious and comfortable. The theme and decor of the hotel and rooms was unique and interesting to us.

This is a small hotel tucked away in a short alley behind other buildings which made it an extremely quiet option in this noisy area of the city. Our room (a Passion room) was a little small – it was a good job that we didn’t have too much luggage – but it was extremely comfortable. The bed was large and one of the best of our entire six week trip. The bathroom was a good size with decent shower. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. It is within walking distance of the main shopping and restaurant area and we also walked along the promenade by the river to the Citadel from here. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

This hotel is a real gem. Tucked away off a Main Street – quiet but great location to walk around and discover Hue. The hotel is in a boutique style with lovely furnishings and decor. Very well maintained. The staff are extremely attentive and responsive without being over the top. They have got it just right. Great choice of breakfast – anything you could wish for.

Location– it is tucked in a small back lane just 20m off a main road, behind other buildings. Being only 6 stories tall it is somewhat blocked by other buildings but this makes for a very quiet and peaceful location. In the city it was perfectly located with the main tourist entertainment/shopping area just 3 minutes walk away. There is a convenience store and other shops within a minute or two on either side and it was very easy for taxis to navigate or be found as the main road is always active.

Service– staff are very friendly and welcoming. Very forthcoming with good advice and recommendations without being too pushy. As the team is small you get to know them and they take interest in your stay and experience.

Room– the hotel has been refreshed from what was once a older setting, everything is clean and well appointed. The room was large and spacious (North American large). Bed, furniture, bathroom all nicely decorated.

Spa– not the nicest in comparison to other spas around Hue or in Vietnam. Just a dark room with little decor or atmosphere, no reception or lounge, one just goes directly into the treatment room and out. Give it a miss and hit up one of the other proper ones around the city.

Food– included breakfast was very good. Plenty of fresh offerings with variety. Western dishes, fresh fruit, or Vietnamese items. Service always attentive and non-rushed.

Tours– the hotel offers various touring options. We used one to get around to see all the ancient sites. Safe and secure, although the driver was very slow.

Pickup/dropoff– used the airport pickup service, worked well, driver with sign waiting on arrival and car nearby.

For an enhanced stay, experience the luxury of our Executive Terrace Suites or Aira Duplex Terrace Suites, overlooking Fansipan mountain and the Muong Hoa valley.

The hotel is in a quieter location of town but still only a few minutes walk to the centre. The hotel is lovely and the staff could not do anything more to assist. They are always pleasant and courteous.

The hotel is beautiful; near Sapa centre – at a walking distance – but outside the crowd; the room and bed very comfortable; the restaurant VERY good, maybe the best in town; the staff very helpful and nice, specially Hannah and Stephen from the reception!

If you are looking for great place to stay at Sapa, Aira Boutique Sapa Hotel will be a great choice. The hotel is very well maintained, great service (kudos to all the friendly staff at the hotel), comfortable room, and good location (within walking distance from the centre of the town yet away from the noisy traffic). View from our room is awesome, overlooking the mountains.

The food at the restaurant is delicious. Spa at the hotel is a must, especially after a whole day hike at Fansipan! Price is reasonable and the massage is good!

The room was spotless, the balcony views were unbelievable and the staff were so friendly and kind. The breakfast each morning was great and had a great variety including a menu of hot food that you could order from (the Banana pancake is next level) and the complimentary afternoon tea everyday was a lovely touch. We also ate in the restaurant twice and the food was excellent as were the restaurant staff. The location of the hotel is brilliant and only a short 5 minute walk in to the centre of town. It’s also away from the madness enough that it’s completely peaceful each morning and evening.

The room was exceptionally nice. It was large and comfortable and had a wonderful terrace with beautiful views of the mountains and nearby terraced rice fields. The hotel also has a small outdoor swimming pool, which was nice in the hot summer weather.

Food – The grilled catfish with noodles, spring rolls and beef pho is really good. Buffet breakfast has also a decent spread of international and local cuisine. The hotel also has a complimentary afternoon tea session from 3pm to 5pm which I think is really thoughtful as it’s the time where most guests would be back from their trekking or day tours.

Service – Excellent! I was down with food poisoning on my 3rd day and the staff at breakfast noticed that I didn’t have much of an appetite and asked me if i was not feeling well and brought me a cup of hot ginger tea. Check out is 11am but they can keep your luggage for you and they even offer complimentary room for me to freshen up before my bus to Lao Cai and train back to Hanoi. So I can quickly freshen up and take my afternoon tea before my journey back to Hanoi.

Location – I kind of like the fact that its 10 mins walk from the sapa town so it’s less noisy and away from the buzz of the town. But walking at night alone back to the hotel can be a little scary as there are limited street lights and I am quite a scaredy cat myself so at some point I really feel like running up the slopes but I was feeling too sick from the papaya salad and spring roll I had at sapa skyview restaurant and bar (read my earlier review) that I can only sing along to myself while climbing up the slopes to the hotel.

9. Friends Gay Guesthouse – Gay Hotel Vietnam

Friends Gay Guesthouse

Friends Gay Guesthouse features air-conditioned rooms with cable flat-screen TV in the Duong Dong district of Phu Quoc. Boasting barbecue facilities, the guest house is close to several noted attractions, around 700 m from Sung Hung Pagoda, 300 m from Su Muon Pagoda and less than 1 km from Phu Quoc Night Market. The guest house has a hot tub, a shared lounge and free WiFi.

The rooms will provide guests with a wardrobe and a kettle.

5 cosy, spacious rooms in a newly build (western standard) 4 floors tower like house. Large jacuzzi and sun chairs on the rooftop, to admire 360 view of the sea, town and green jungle hills, while nobody will see you. Every room equipped with a queen or king size bed, TV with Netflix, minibar, safety box and hair dryer. A fully equipped kitchen and bar with lounge downstairs. Bar and rooftop is open for visitors 1pm to 11pm every day except the club night on Saturdays. Every Saturday 8pm to 2am gay club night with foam party. Entrance 100K VND or free in case of rain.

So good idea with a gay hotel on Phu Quoc and very well executed one. Spacious, light rooms with individual design. It’s a small hotel with a very friendly feeling. Justifying the name. This high level of comfort for that price is very unusual for Vietnam and the low price is definitely unusual for gay hotels. A winning combo in my eyes!

The rooftop offering a stunning view over the entire town, harbour and green surroundings. Location is very near the Night Market. Not being on the beach, might be a downside, but there are so many nice beaches on Phu Quoc. So not being attached to just one is rather a plus side, a freedom. Duong Dong is right in the middle of the island and is perfect for exploring both North and South.
Down in the lobby there is a bar open for visitors. The owners, two hot guys, are living on the property. They are very helpful, and they are another nice feature of this place.

So far this is the only gay establishment on Phu Quoc. Well done, guys.
