Dog Friendly Tours in Costa Rica

Costa Rica is a rugged, rainforested Central American country with coastlines on the Caribbean and Pacific. Though its capital, San Jose, is home to cultural institutions like the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum, Costa Rica is known for its beaches, volcanoes, and biodiversity. Roughly a quarter of its area is made up of protected jungle, teeming with wildlife including spider monkeys and quetzal birds

Decorated with indigenous art, the MoonGlow bar-restaurant serves fusion cuisine, snacks and tropical cocktails.

The daily buffet breakfast includes eggs, bacon and pancakes, as well as exotic fruit and fresh coffee.

Why You Should Book Adventure Inn

On the outskirts of San José, this relaxed, family-run hotel is a 5-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, 7 km from Parque Diversiones amusement park and 12 km from Museo Nacional de Costa Rica.

Featuring murals by local artists, the quaint rooms come with free Wi-Fi and cable TV, plus safes and coffeemakers.

Suites add mini fridges and microwaves, as well as whirlpool tubs and furnished porches. Room service is available. Kids 4 and under stay free.

Freebies include an airport shuttle, and hot breakfast served in a quirky restaurant with a decorative tree and a terrace.

There’s also a bar, plus a gym, a heated outdoor pool and a hot tub.

We frequently fly into San Jose and have tried different hotels and motels in the area.
Adventure Inn is the one we use exclusively now. It’s clean, comfortable, has an airport shuttle, accepts pets, has an awesome restaurant.
It may not have the brand new decor or appliances but as far as we are concerned, it has something even better, a home-like atmosphere and charm.
It is like going to the relaxing family cottage. I have never had any problems and they go out of their way to help with any issues.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Very pet friendly.
Food at the restaurant was good. In a nice quiet area, although the bar/restaurant was a bit noisy, we drowned it out with the a/c.
From the bathrooms huge walk in shower to its location near reception, restaurant, lounge and pool it could not have been any better.
Simple things that other places don’t even consider like grab bars or even hand railings into the pool and hot tub were plentiful.
Another kudo for this place is that it is pet friendly; which is hard to believe given the immaculately clean facility as well as being quiet throughout my entire seven day stay.
Why You Should NOT Book Adventure Inn
The room was comfortable enough. The bathroom could have been cleaner. Had a faint foul odor that dissipated with the windows open.
The pool and hot tub was used by the staff’s children and their friends during our entire stay. We were not able to use it once.
There was screaming kids and pool toys everywhere.
If you stay here, don’t plan on the hotel being used for “guest purposes”… this hotel is home to the staff and the guests come second to their needs. Will not be returning.

Video Review of Hotel Bosque del Mar Playa Hermosa

The modern Niromi restaurant serves international and Costa Rican cuisine in an elegant marble dining room with wonderful beach views. The stylish Nya lounge bar offers drinks, snacks and music.

Why You Should Book Hotel Bosque del Mar Playa Hermosa

Spent a couple days here with my wife on a romantic beach getaway. The rooms are large with a nice living room and bathroom with large bedroom.

The staff very friendly. We had the plan with breakfast and dinner which was well worth it, since the food was amazing.

Our room had a garden view which very nice.

The pool is covered by trees which makes it nice in the shade pool. I really recommend the heated jacuzzi for a relaxing bath at night after a nice day at the beach

The rooms are really quite smart and modern and the staff are really obliging.

We had a garden view room which was a lot quieter than the sea view rooms as you don’t hear the pounding of the ocean all night.

The breakfast was good and there was plenty to choose from.

We ate in the evening in the bar, just having bar snacks which were adequate after a day of doing nothing.

The beach is vast and during the week it is quiet, however, we arrived on a Sunday, and as it is a public beach was quite busy, so expect the same on Saturday’s too.

Although the loungers are looking a little tired they were okay.

The local hawkers on the beach are polite when you smile and say no thanks, they leave you alone; they smile even more when you want to buy something 😉

Why You Should NOT Book Hotel Bosque del Mar Playa Hermosa

What you expect in a hotel priced 25 USD per night, you do not expect in 250 USD/night one. Dirty rooms, lack of hot water in the shower, smelly jacuzzi, cold water in the hotel pool.

Terrible restaurant – we had to sent back the food to the kitchen first time ever (we got raw, unprepared meat)

Video Review of Lomas del Caribe

These beautiful casas are located just a short distance from the beach.

Why You Should Book  Lomas del Caribe

The houses each have a private pool and patio area.

We used the pool every day and found it very refreshing after spending the afternoon at the beach.

Comes with a kitchen and dining area, so you don’t have to eat out.
This is a great place to stay. One of my favorites in the Caribbean.

Beautiful porch, comfortable house and private. The howler monkeys were in a tree every other morning just before dawn which was the coolest thing to wake up to.

We didn’t realize till check out that the tree they are in is directly behind the reception building.

We could have walked up there and had an up close view of them as the climbed around in the tree. The drive up is farther than I thought but nothing to really complain about.

We would definitely stay again.

Why You Should NOT Book  Lomas del Caribe

It has a nice location, close to several beaches.
The mattress on the main room was awful, my wife and I had to sleep in the floor using some sofas in the living room, also the handle in one of the doors was broken.

The kitchen didn’t have an oven, just in case your counting on it.

The road outside the villa is gravel, we heard some cars that struggle passing by, just to keep in mind.

The internet was poor.
I will give it 3.5 score if I could but for the price you pay the mattress was too bad.

The hotel’s Mare Calmo restaurant offers a range of international cuisine. There is also a poolside bar.

This relaxed all-inclusive hotel is set on leafy grounds along tranquil Panama Beach.

It’s 20 km from Liberia International Airport and 47 km from Santa Rosa National Park.

Why You Should Book Hotel Casa Conde Beach Front Hotel

Laid-back rooms offer sitting/dining areas, and bathrooms with whirlpool tubs.
All include flat-screens, Wi-Fi and safes, as well as minibars, and tea and coffeemakers.
Upgraded rooms with balconies or patios provide gulf and pool views; family rooms and airy 1-bedroom suites add kitchens and terraces.
We stayed for the weekend and I left with a great feeling, as the staff was very friendly and helpful.
I was surprised to see that the Buffet Meals were actually pretty good (I am not a big fan of buffets..), good quality and tasty.
We stayed in a Superior Room with Ocean Views and it was gorgeous, with a little terrace.
And did I mention that they are pet-friendly? Yep, a wonderful weekend.
They have a nice variety of infused local cuisine with fine dining so there was always a choice for everyone without sacrificing flavor(for example my wife does not eat red meat but they always had seafood and chicken) the snacks during downtime were nice since other places really have limited options and are usually very generic options.
We are pet lovers so definitely the best part was that they allowed our dogs on the property and did not seem concerned with them as other places have been (in CR pet owners are just now becoming educated and there’s still a lot of issues with people not been responsible with their pets so we always get the same speech when we go places), here they simply told us they weren’t allowed at the pool and restaurant.
Why You Should NOT Book Hotel Casa Conde Beach Front Hotel
Pool that was open was always dirty with many leaves etc in it. Difficult to walk on grounds…. no paved walking areas between pools and to access the beach.
Did not like that there were 3 days with locals at the pool bar drinking for the day and eating in the restaurant as well. Resort should not be open for local workers during premium travel times

Video Review of Cabinas Jimenez

Set in tropical gardens on the Golfo Dulce waterfront, this rustic hotel with a relaxed vibe is a 3-minute walk from the intercity bus station, 1 km from Osa Interactive Gardens and 46 km from Parque Nacional Corcovado.

Why You Should Book Cabinas Jimenez

Basic rooms with colorful decor offer Wi-Fi access, plus coffeemakers, mini fridges and safes. Some add flat-screen TVs, microwaves and/or furnished terraces.

Studios have kitchenettes, while a separate bungalow provides a full kitchen.
One of the best features of this place is of course the free kayak and bike rental.
They will explain you when the best time to kayak is in terms of the tide, so you don’t have to carry the kayak for ages.
There was two seater ones and single ones and I believe even a stand up paddle board.
They also provide life vests.
The wifi worked very well and was free. They seem to be very pet friendly as well, no noisy animals around though.

Wow! I can’t say enough about this place. Affordable, beautiful, but most of all hospitable!

I can’t believe how well the owners and staff treated us. True pura vida. They genuinely wanted us to enjoy our stay.

They picked mangos for us, provided us with fresh aqua de pipa, provided kayaks for the ocean and bicycles for the town – all for free (and even gave us some poolside sangria)!

Such a good atmosphere, and our favorite place to stay in Costa Rica. Will definitely go again.

A fun bonus is the fact that extremely friendly dogs are in the area, and will come to visit.

Why You Should NOT Book Cabinas Jimenez
Only spent one night here before a domestic flight and was disappointed at the general condition after reading the description on a hotel booking site.
If you intend to pay by anything other than cash there is a 6% charge. There are no bar or restaurant facilities for breakfast.
