70.2% of the total population of Bahrain is Muslims and 29.8% are adherents of other religions and beliefs, such as Christians (10.2%) and Jews (0.21%). This is in addition to Hindus, Baha’is, Buddhists, Sikhs and others who are mostly from South Asia and other Arab countries. 99.8% of Bahraini citizens are Muslims.

By Crescent Rating, Bahrain is 11st rated among most Muslim-friendly countries.

How many mosques are there in Bahrain

The government reported 596 licensed Sunni mosques and 91 Sunni community centers; authorities increased the number of licensed Shia places of worship to 754 mosques, while the number of ma’atams (Shia prayer houses, sometimes called husseini as in other countries) remained the same at 618

Like other tourists, Muslim travelers coming from Islamic countries have particular requirements when they choose the destination for their vacation. Among these requirements, Muslims are concerned about the availability of halal compliant foods (no pork or alcohol in food) and a clean place to pray.

Many international hotels in Bahrain  do serve halal food that is slaughtered in accordance with the teachings of Islamic Sharia and is free of any substances forbidden by Islam such as pork and alcohol.

Other Islamic countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Oman and Brunei continue to be popular with Muslim tourists. Among non-OIC countries, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, Japan and Taiwan remain the top five respectively, but show improved scores on the index.

Breathing new life into Bab Al Bahrain, this stylish hotel provides guests with a genuine sense of Bahraini hospitality that is a real credit to Bahrain.

We had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the cosy terrace of the hotel.

The menu covers all kind of tastes, they also have a specialised vegan menu and sushi. I highly recommend the slow cooking shunk meat and the steaks.
The wild mushroom risotto is a very good option too.

The room -suite was very spacious and beautifully designed. The hotel owmes more than 200 artworks and paintings and a very appealing library mezzanine room where guests can rest and enjoy reading a book.

I highly recommend The Merchant house boutique hotel and for sure we will stay there again.

The tent is beautifully set out and although there were many tables it never felt crowded or cramped.

The food was delicious. Chief Chef Das and Chef Basvanath, both from Bengal, had created a most exquisite display of delectables – mostly Arabic and Indian food. We especially liked the oozi and the butter chicken and the live grilling station, with grilled kababs and shrimps. The desserts were great too but, trying unsuccessfully to put the Slim back in this Muslim, I just tried the ice cream vendor. Service at the table was excellent. Yaseen saw to it that our glasses never ran dry. A variety of juices and tea and coffee were on offer.

Arrangements had also been made for prayers – just a quick walk away from the Tent.

The Arabic music provided a soothing backdrop to the atmosphere and was not too loud to drown out the conversation. The tandora dance performance was scintillating.

The villas are the epitome of luxury and stunning- a true paradise getaway, and the best resort in Bahrain.

It was a real pleasure staying at Al Areen for several different reasons. First of all the staff were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. From the welcoming people to the receptionist to the buggy operators, they were all friendly and pleasant. The hotel staff also gave us a complementary cake as I was celebrating my wedding few days prior and that was such a nice touch and Im grateful for it

As for the villa it was elegant and luxurious and had all the facilities you would expect. The design of the villa is magnificent and the speakers surrounding the pool add to the cozy environment.

The food on the other hand was excellent and delicious. Breakfast was great and it had endless options to pick and choose from.

Dinner was also lovely, from the atmosphere of the restaurant to the tastiness of the food, would highly recommend Saffron restaurant to any hotel guest or outside guests.

I really enjoyed my stay and will very likely book again in the future.
