How many mosques are there in Brunei?
As of 2019, there were 118 Islamic places of worship, including 102 mosques, 5 surau and 11 balai ibadat (“worship halls”).
Like other tourists, Muslim travelers coming from Islamic countries have particular requirements when they choose the destination for their vacation. Among these requirements, Muslims are concerned about the availability of halal compliant foods (no pork or alcohol in food) and a clean place to pray.
Many international hotels in Brunei do serve halal food that is slaughtered in accordance with the teachings of Islamic Sharia and is free of any substances forbidden by Islam such as pork and alcohol.
Other Islamic countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Oman and Brunei continue to be popular with Muslim tourists. Among non-OIC countries, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, Japan and Taiwan remain the top five respectively, but show improved scores on the index.

The hotel is clean and well kept. We had a junior suite which was great. It is easy walking distance to the Waterfront and water taxis. There is a free shuttle bus that runs every couple of hours to main tourist spots, and they offer airport pick up free of charge. The staff go out of their way to be helpful and make suggestions for things to see etc.
We were there during the Sultan’s birthday month so lots of activities and fireworks going on. The water taxi is a great way to see the proboscis monkey and water village. A great place to stay – highly recommend it.
Breakfast which is included in the room rate was a very basic breakfast. Toast, coffee, juice or an Malay style rice packet, not really breakfast but enough to get you to lunch.

The room I was in had a classic style decor which was actually quite homey in direct contrast to the modern luxurious vibe I was expecting for some reason.
Loved the huge soft inviting bed, the amazing view from the room, and absolutely loved the big deep bathtub which I spent ages in with lots and lots of scented bubbles.
That huge swimming pool is something else! Wide-spread area, gorgeous views, and great service from attentive staff.
The sea view room that I had was very spacious, it is like a suite since the dimensions measure about 60 square meters at the least. Of course the huge bathroom (it has the size of standard room in some budget hotels) and the expansive veranda somehow took up considerable space.
The room is well appointed, but noted the relatively poor air-condition temperature( even when engineering tried to fix it) and the not so big flat screen TV with few English channels. A nice feature though is the bathroom which automatically lights up with its motion sensor technology.Wireless internet is free, and kind of really fast.
Buffet breakfast is held at the Atrium and it was sufficient enough , with Halal selection (Asian and Western) comprising the buffet.
Some items change daily , and the ambiance felt of dining in this area was indeed worth it, and should be tried at least once.
The room was big, amenities were nice, great shower, bath for those who desire to unwind. Bed was comfy and enormous and mini bar was included.
The breakfast was served in the Atrium in the main building. The varieties of food served are a welcome changed and we did enjoy them very much and being in Brunei Darussalam, Halal is guaranteed.
