Halaal Hotels in Cape Town
Like other tourists, Muslim travelers coming from Islamic countries have particular requirements when they choose the destination for their vacation. Among these requirements, Muslims are concerned about the availability of halal compliant foods (no pork or alcohol in food) and a clean place to pray.
Many international hotels in Cape Town do serve halal food that is slaughtered in accordance with the teachings of Islamic Sharia and is free of any substances forbidden by Islam such as pork and alcohol.
Other Islamic countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Oman and Brunei continue to be popular with Muslim tourists. Among non-OIC countries, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, Japan and Taiwan remain the top five respectively, but show improved scores on the index.

Best Day Tours in Cape Town for Muslim Travelers
Cape Town is a port city on South Africa’s southwest coast, on a peninsula beneath the imposing Table Mountain. Slowly rotating cable cars climb to the mountain’s flat top, from which there are sweeping views of the city, the busy harbor and boats heading for Robben Island, the notorious prison that once held Nelson Mandela, which is now a living museum

Explore the city right from our doorstep. Originally home to the South African Reserve Bank and Temple Chambers and, later, the Board of Executors (BoE), Taj Cape Town effortlessly combines the legacy of the old with the luxury of the new.
Located in the centre of the old city, it boasts a strong sense of place and is within walking distance to some of South Africa’s foremost landmarks and attractions and an eclectic array of shops, galleries and restaurants.
Spread across two heritage buildings, all 176 rooms have spectacular city views or overlook the iconic Table Mountain.
The breakfast was a delicious spread with good variety. The friendly and helpful staff most certainly made our stay memorable.
Special thanks goes out to: Samantha and Andile who prepared our breakfast separately and ensured our Halal needs were met.
Here are few suggestions that I believe if implemented, can make Taj a cut above the rest
1. Include Halaal items in room service menu.
2. Include Halal cold meats on breakfast menu.
Location: excellent near St George’s Mall with plenty of food including halal options, opposite the beautiful Company Gardens with regular shuttles to the V & A and the table mountain gateway.
Hotel: private and luxurious feel and most important of all, felt safe. Ideal if family trip.
Staff: gregarious and very friendly staff at concierge, reception and breakfast. Just the right amount of friendliness without being over-intrusive.
Occasional lapses by housekeeping eg. cleaned cutlery not replaced but made up for the luxurious feel of the room.
Highly recommended if you are in Cape Town.
Location: Fantastic downtown location. Very safe. Bang opposite St. George’s Cathedral.
Right next to Long Street (the cool street with art galleries, neat restaurants and boutiques). Walking distance to Bo-Kaap (Cape Malay community with those colorful houses). 5 minutes by cab to the waterfront and wharf.
View. Absolutely STUNNING view. Our room overlooked the historic St. George’s Cathedral. Table mountain literally loomed over us. Flanked on both sides by two other peaks.
City lights laid out at night. A partial view of what I think is the Company Gardens. We had a room on the 11th floor with a balcony.
From my balcony I could see 5 distinct types of architecture (if you are into that kind of thing, which I am)
Room: Very conducive to ‘romance’. Floor to ceiling glass, both in the rooms as well as the bathroom.
You can take in the view lying in your bathtub and then lower the shades in the bathroom when you need privacy.
Modern and tasteful decor.
Private and great sound insulation – I slept like a baby. Ask for a room facing the mountains and a higher floor.
Amenities – greatly exceeded expectations. For instance, their shower caps. So what you say, all hotels have them. Well this one came with a soft hair band ( ladies -or men – with long hair – you know what I am talking about!!!).
Anyway nice little touches that made all the difference.
Why You Should NOT Book Taj Cape Town Hotel
Highly understaffed and poorly managed. Not a good value for the very high premium that one would pay.
Took us more than 1 hour to check in and check out. Staff is courteous but they can’t handle the workload due to the size of the hotel.
They promise various amenities like free transfers within 10km, walking tours etc but the facilities are almost never available.
Quality of food in restaurants and in-room dining is average by Taj standards

Overall good service. Rooms are clean and cozy. Centrally located, close to stores and nightlife.
They offer buffet breakfast, lunch and supper at an additional cost. Authentic Cape Malay cooking, halal with a variety of dishes. Worth a try if you’re staying for a night or two.
My room had a view of the Convention Center and I could also catch the beautiful sunrise from it.
Breakfast was included with a spread of delicious halal food.
Capetonian is situated in a central location where one can easily reach other interesting places of Cape Town.
Rooms are comfortable with sufficient packing space and a decent bathroom. I had a balcony room facing the CTICC and harbour behind, they offer mountain view rooms as well. Rooms have digital safes.
Housekeeping was efficient and the overall cleanliness of the rooms and general areas was up to standard. Had a few maintenance issues, including faulty mini fridge and faulty sliding door.
Both were replaced/repaired swiftly.
Restaurant is pleasant and spacious.
All food is halal and no alcohol is allowed on premises.
Breakfast was included, and was on par with most establishments of this type and grading. Restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. Haven’t tried the dinner buffet.
Lobby area is always neat and the staff, from doorman to receptionists are always welcoming.
Staff in general are very friendly.
Location is central, with the V&A Waterfront a 15 minute walk away. Signal Hill and Table Mountain are a 15 minute drive, Lower Long Street begins behind the hotel and Bo-kaap is a 10 minute drive.
Overall a good hotel at a fair rate. The staff make the difference and are always on hand to help.
The hotel rates are cheap for the service and amenities provided.
The room provided was comfortable with a double bed, settee, office desk, TV, Radio alarm, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities, an ensuite bathroom/shower with soap, shampoo and body gel/wash provided and plenty of bath towels.
No mini-bar is found in the room. Wake up calls can be booked and room service provided 24 hrs of the day.
This hotel has a wide variety of cuisines and dishes provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
A spread of food was available – the inclusion of ‘halal‘ dishes (curried and not curried) has made this hotel rather unique to those found in the neighbourhood.
Why You Should Not Book The Capetonian
The location of hotel is very very good as it lies very close to V&A waterfront and Parliament Street. You will find bars, restaurants nearby.
However, despite being a very very old hotel, the service of the hotel sucks badly. You will have to wait for close to 30 minutes for simple things.
The room allotted to me was also very poor. Being a room for 2 people, the room had queen size bed not very comfortable for 2 people.

Had 12 friends for the evening. The staff Went the extra mile to cater halal meals for all. Really appreciate. Please support the hotel especially for the halal food.
As we entered the hotel you get the stunning views of table mountain- breathtaking!
The room we got was Harbor facing with stunning views of the waterfront. The room is also very very spacious.
They even had a camp cot baby bed laid out for our little one along with baby bath products.
They even had a nappy bin placed in the bathroom! Talk about going the extra mile! The bath amenities in this hotel are also worth mentioning as they are luxurious.
The slippers they gave us to use in the room were also comfy, padded and high quality- just like the ones you’d find at a high end department store.
Breakfast is served at Reuben’s and they have a lovely spread with a lot of variety. The waitress happily made our breakfast eggs for us completely separate as we only eat halal.
