Booked a last-minute stay in Edinburgh for two nights- pleased with the choice to stay at Market Street Hotel due to convenient location next to Waverley.
We booked direct on booking.com. We stayed in a Vista room on the fourth floor and had breakfast in the Nor’ Loft both mornings. As you walked into the room there was a sink and wardrobe on the left with a sliding door to the bathroom.
Straight ahead was shutter doors which led to the bedroom. There were nice touches in the room such as Nespresso machine, milk frother, complimentary mini bar, dyson hair dryer, ghds and a handheld steamer.
The bed was comfortable, and we really liked the design of the slide door over the window which blocked out all light and we could hear no noise during our entire stay despite facing market street/ station.
Breakfast is very good quality with everything you could ask for. Cocktails in Nor Loft are excellent and they are happy to produce the classics if required. The view from the balcony is excellent and it takes in the evening sun too!
This new hotel is well situated. The rooms are modern and well appointed. The food was delicious too. What comes over most is the pride the staff take in their work.
They are attentive without being obsequious. They are happy to explain the design concepts which are a feature of this beautiful hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and the atmosphere was friendly.

Great and comfortable hostel. Service downstairs is great.
Breakfast a little pricy at £4.50 continental and £6 for cooked. (Vegetarian option available).
Great for Muslim visitors as local mosque (Anwar-e-Madina mosque and community centre) is 2 min down the road.
This was a great place to stay, only a short walk from the main city centre.
Now since this is a hostel, we knew not to expect a 5 star hotel. We were here to do all the touristy things and to watch the rugby, so just needed somewhere to rest our heads.
The room was clean, comfortable and a good size. The shower was absolutely amazing!
The youth hostel is friendly and welcoming and in a great central location. We were able to walk to most places we wanted to visit.
The room was comfortable and clean. We also enjoyed breakfasts – enormous cooked breakfasts and a tasty dinner. The staff are friendly and helpful.

An informal restaurant offers cooked breakfast, as well as Scottish classics for dinner (fees). There’s also a colourful wine bar serving lighter fare.
Ten Hill Place is my new favorite in Edinburgh; it’s close to the asian food stores and restaurants; many other stores are also closeby, just around the corner – Poundland,Lidl,Tesco, etc.
Its walking distance to the Edinburgh central mosque (around 3-5 mins). Walking distance to the royal mile and princess street (10 mins). parking is not a problem as public parking is available beside the hotel (GBP2/hour and parking is free from 6.30pm upto 8.30am); the hotel also offers secured parking for GBP12/day.
There is also a paid parking area behind the mosque in case if street parking is full.
The rooms are nicely arranged, good free space, was impressed with the toilets cleanliness and toiletries available and refreshed everyday.
The complimentary water and tea facilities were nice. overall, the hotel experience was nice. didn’t use the breakfast service as the food wasn’t halal but we only had to manage the breakfast ourselves and lunch and dinner was just a quick stroll away from the hotel.
The Mosque Kitchen is a famous place but I would strongly recommend the Kebab Mahal across the street from it – the food was simply yummy.
Stayed at this Hotel to go to The Festival Theatre. It is literally 250 metres from the theatre and we use the ‘Just Park’ app and found somewhere equally as close nearby to leave the car overnight as there isn’t any parking at the Hotel.
We had a lovely loft room which gave us a view over the city to the Firth of Forth. The room was very comfortable with a great ensuit shower room/toilet. It also had a great flat screen tv and heating that could be adjusted.
The price of £101 for two included breakfast with a choice of full English or continental or both if you were that way inclined. Both choices were excellent, with lovely Danish pastries, croissants and artisan bread.
This hotel is within easy walking distance ( 5 minutes) from the Royal Mile and (10 minutes) from Princess Street, so an ideal location.
