Halal Hotels Greece
Like other tourists, Muslim travelers coming from Islamic countries have particular requirements when they choose the destination for their vacation. Among these requirements, Muslims are concerned about the availability of halal compliant foods (no pork or alcohol in food) and a clean place to pray.
Many international hotels in Greece do serve halal food that is slaughtered in accordance with the teachings of Islamic Sharia and is free of any substances forbidden by Islam such as pork and alcohol.
Other Islamic countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Oman and Brunei continue to be popular with Muslim tourists. Among non-OIC countries, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, Japan and Taiwan remain the top five respectively, but show improved scores on the index.

Athens is the capital of Greece. It was also at the heart of Ancient Greece, a powerful civilization and empire. The city is still dominated by 5th-century BC landmarks, including the Acropolis, a hilltop citadel topped with ancient buildings like the colonnaded Parthenon temple. The Acropolis Museum, along with the National Archaeological Museum, preserves sculptures, vases, jewelry and more from Ancient Greece.

Situated in the very heart of the commercial and business district of Athens, the Athens Tiare Hotel is perfect for business and leisure travellers looking for a unique design hotel overlooking Omonoia Square.
Each room showcases avant-garde design and modern features. Recharge your iPod and mobile devices at the charging station in your room, which also features a laptop-size safe. Relax in your spacious room and enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep, courtesy of soundproofed windows. Wear the slippers and Terry bathrobe that are thoughtfully provided for your comfort.
Start your day with American buffet breakfast at the bright and elegant dining area. Snacks are served throughout the day, as well as aperitivo with Greek tapas before dinner. The on-site restaurant proposes Greek fusion cuisine.
On a corner overlooking Platia Omonias square, this stylish, modern hotel is 2 minutes’ walk from the Omonia metro station and 2 km from the Acropolis of Athens.
Airy rooms have hardwood floors and a serene vibe, and come with free Wi-Fi, plus smart TVs, minibars and desks. Upgraded rooms and suites, some with colorful accents, add sofabeds, and balconies with city views; a number offer whirlpool tubs. Room service is available 24/7.
Breakfast is complimentary. Amenities include a contemporary restaurant, and a cafe/bar that serves cocktails, plus a fitness room and a lobby lounge.
The Athens Tiare Hotel stands proudly overlooking the most historic of all, the famous Omonοia (Concord) Square.
The hotel is just in front of the Metro station, close to landmarks, museums, cultural events, wine and dining.
The location is perfect if you want the convenience of Halal options close by. I had read reviews of how rough the neighbourhood was but I think given that this is a multicultural area it has a lot of forieigners and this can be quite scarey for some. The hotel is perfectly situated for access to mos places. The main sites are walkable however if you have small children I would advise you use the metro which is approximately 10 steps from the hotel entrance/exit door. The hotel staff are really helpful.
The rooms are nice but the only complaint would be the toilet was a strange small design. If you want to see the sites then the metro will take you close to them. The main ones are sygmata and Acropolis.
For food you’ll be pleased to know there is quite a sizable Bengali and Pakistani population in Athens. They are situated behind the hotel. The hotel is on a square like a abig roundabout. If you count anticlockwise the first exit/road if you go down this road and turn right on the corner where there is a little car park is you will find a restaurant called Indian Karahi. a few doors down from this is another one. if you turn left from here there are a few more but most of them are frequented by the male population and they tend to smoke inside too. I found that Indian Karahi was the best for families as there were 8 of us including wives and children. The seating was perfect too.
There are some really nice restaurants too near Sygmata square. Indian Kitchen for me being the best and closely followed by Indian Tandoori Parlor. Best to google the names for exact locations. These are slightly higher in price but still cheaper than the UK.
If you are a woman and you wear a hijab this is no problem and Greeks are very friendly and we didn’t experience any problems. Some shops even offered us salaam.

Breakfast here is well above the standard one would expect for this class of hotel. Hot food: excellent. Cold food: also excellent with delicious fresh pastries daily. Delicious. Fresh fruit of course with selection of yoghurts. Large tea selection and coffee. Very wide selection of fresh, hot and cold food was on offer and despite the breakfast room being busy, food was replenished quickly and regularly. Staff were without exception friendly helpful and efficient.
Health suite: extremely modern and excellent gym with brand new treadmills. Plenty of towels. Lovely sauna in there.
What struck me about this hotel is the friendliness of staff throughout whom I would describe as exceptionally friendly and helpful.

3. Imaret 5* – Halal Hotels Greece
Offering a unique location within a historical monument, Imaret has been beautifully restored to combine original Ottoman architecture with modern luxury.
Originally built in 1817, Imaret has been carefully restored to create a magnificent setting for a first-class residence. Every room and suite is lavishly decorated and appointed with Molton Brown candles and exclusive Bulgari toiletries. Original fireplaces complete the elegant interiors.
Guests can enjoy relaxed moments in the 3 courtyards and the beautiful outdoor cistern or unwind in the hotel’s spa offering soothing massages and a traditional hammam experience.
With views of the Gulf of Kavala, this high-end hotel in a palatial 19th-century building features domed ceilings, and is a 6-minute walk from the ancient Castle Kavala and 7 minutes on foot from the landmark Kavala aqueduct.
The elegant rooms and suites offer lavish decor, and provide free Wi-Fi, safes, minibars and designer toiletries. Some feature distinct touches such as living rooms, fireplaces, chandeliers, handmade furnishings and/or gulf views.
Amenities include an upscale restaurant, a sophisticated glass-enclosed cocktail bar, gardens and a terrace. A luxe spa offers a hammam. Breakfast and afternoon tea are available.
The Imaret is a world apart, a rare jewel, where East meets West in Northern Greece. A historical monument crowning the hillside overlooking the picturesque harbour of Kavala, the hotel combines the grandeur of Greek Roman and Byzantine Style with a scent of the orient, and the elegance of Hellenic hospitality.
The building was the gift of Mehmet Ali, modernising ruler of Egypt in the 1800’s, to Kavala, his birthplace.
A place of real beauty. Staying here felt like inhabiting a lost world; there was modern plumbing but bowls with rose petals were still left out to wash your feet. The courtyard pool within the orange trees was perfectly swimmable, but the water came from a stone fountain between orange trees. The lost world was the ottoman world, before the population exchanges of the 1920s. Our bedroom was once home to twelve muslim orphan boys, our bathroom home to twelve more, the bakery for feeding the poor of Kavala is still there, and the pretty mosque.
Even the food was from what would now be the Turkish tradition – and delicious. The staff couldn’t be more relaxed, this is real luxury but not intimidating.
The hotel is a treat to the eyes during the sunset. As was a school of 67 rooms for the advantage of the hotel the rooms were reduced to 37, so the bathrooms are the original bathrooms with modern needs. They are a little bit higher then usual to get in so be careful. The amenities in the bathroom are Bulgari and linen and towels are of the highest Egyptian quality. If you are, I read in bed type, bring a small reading light with you because the rooms are pretty dark.
After the nightly service of your room you will always have fruit or sweets and chocolates in your room. And as is the custom in Muslim countries water, a bowl and a towel for you to wash your feet before you get into the bed.
. Breakfast is sublime, everything is made at the spot and fresh. So when the hotel is full you can wait a few moments otherwise the service is fantastic. Rooms (even the cheaper ones) big and beds are very comfortable.
The pool that you see in the internet os brochures is not for swimming. Tell the girls in the reception to give a tour of the premises to see the spa and the water cistern that even today is full of water.
How much does a room costs at Imaret Hotel?
Prices start 1146$/night for Water Garden Suite. The Imaret Suite is 1728$/room per night with breakfast included – if coming on a honeymoon this is the perfect choice for couples.
Situated in the Ottoman garden, it overlooks the garden as well as the sea. It features domes and groined-vaults. Entering, we find the living room with the fireplace.
The bed is under the dome and directly across it and underneath the groined-vault lays an undercut mosaic bathtub. The bathroom anteroom serves as “boudoir”.
The bathroom features a mosaic shower and 1 of the 2 Egyptian washbasins. This suite has its own private balcony to the Byzantine Wall.

Iliovasilema is situated on the enchanting and world famous Caldera. Built 350 m above sea level, offers to its guests the most fascinating view of the volcano and the little islands of the Aegean Sea, as well as of the dazzling sunset.
Beautifully appointed rooms, authentic and set into the hill side with a “cave” like feel. The rooms are clean and stylish. We stayed in the junior suite without a hot tub (room 19) which had two amazing private terraces, one for our breakfast and the other with loungers for sunbathing. We really had to force ourselves to go out some days!
The view is truly spectacular and my description cannot do it justice, we watched sunset from our balconies most days before walking into town for dinner. The location is great, with a half hour walk into the Centre of Fira. It’s a sweaty, up-hill walk to Oia which takes about two hours if you are up for it – the views are totally worth it on the walk but be sure to wear suitable footwear!
Service is excellent with breakfast delivered daily to your room. Andreas is a real superstar carrying breakfast and suitcases up and down the stairs all day!
The reception staff are really helpful and friendly and keen to suggest restaurants, beach bars or anything else you need. We felt very well looked after.
Amazing view to Caldera and the volcano. The rooms were absolutely clean, every day, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.
The breakfast also was very good , served at your private balcony enjoying the amazing and endless view.

This holiday ticked all our boxes. High standard of accommodation, clean and spacious with beautiful views. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Complex was always quiet in a relaxing way. Free shuttle bus provided easy access to both old town and new.
Personal favourites were the old villages especially at night. Many beautiful and friendly restaurants to choose from. Would love to return.
This is an excellent resort, with good accommodation, facilities, services, catering, and entertainment – all delivered with a very welcoming and non pretentious family holiday ambience. The apartments and studios etc are private, attractive and well serviced, laid out in a spaceous elongated complex nestled among nicely landscaped and well tended gardens in a hilly location with delightful aerial views across other hills in the distance and the coastline below (approx 10 mins by car or the free shuttle bus). There is ample parking which is essentially off site to keep the resort itself pedestrian only (with electric buggy assistance if required).
There are two pools – one with ‘sporty’ offerings included, the other (called the snack bar pool) is quiet and more amenable for bookworms looking for more peaceful relaxation.
The restaurant was really good with a selection of dishes on a self serving basis, very reasonably priced and different themes during the week. We ate there several times and enjoyed it very much.
There is a courtesy bus that runs all day through to early evening that stops at the old town for drop off only and the new Town for drop off and pick up. We used public transport to travel around as it’s cheap and the conductors are very helpful.
This island is not cheap, we found that food can be expensive and also souvenirs, we bought 4 slices of cake and it was 15 euros. We found the people of Crete to be very pleasant and helpful and would definitely recommend it.
