Halal Hotels Hurghada

Islam is the dominant religion in Egypt with around an estimated 90.3% of the population. Almost the entirety of Egypt’s Muslims are Sunnis, with a very small minority of Shia. The latter, however, are not recognized by Egypt. Islam has been recognized as the state religion since 1980.
By Crescent Rating, Egypt is rated 14th among most Muslim-friendly countries.
How many mosques are there in Egypt?
There are 114,000 mosques in Egypt as of 2016, of which 83,000 are affiliated with the Ministry of Endowments.

The Muslim friendly hotel means a hotel that has Islamic characteristics that can provide basic facilities that are more friendly to Muslim customers such as a Qibla direction indicator, the availability of prayer tools, the presence of halal food / list of nearby restaurants that provide halal food.

Like other tourists, Muslim travelers coming from Islamic countries have particular requirements when they choose the destination for their vacation. Among these requirements, Muslims are concerned about the availability of halal compliant foods (no pork or alcohol in food) and a clean place to pray.

Many international hotels in Egypt do serve halal food that is slaughtered in accordance with the teachings of Islamic Sharia and is free of any substances forbidden by Islam such as pork and alcohol.

Other Islamic countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Oman and Brunei continue to be popular with Muslim tourists. Among non-OIC countries, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, Japan and Taiwan remain the top five respectively, but show improved scores on the index.

1. The Oberoi Beach Resort, Sahl Hasheesh 5* – Halal Hotels Hurghada

A walk-in closet and a flat-screen satellite TV are in Oberoi’s air-conditioned suites. Each comes with free WiFi, a glass-walled bathroom with a marble bath and separate shower. Some include a pool in the garden and iPod docking stations.

Massages and various beauty treatments, including exfoliating scrubs, are offered at Oberoi Beach Resort, Sahl Hashish spa. It includes private steam rooms and a gym fitted with Life Fitness equipment. Other activities include star gazing, cooking class, yoga and aromatherapy.

On a sandy beach along the Red Sea, this luxe all-suite hotel on a 19-hectare property is 18 km from Hurghada International Airport.

Featuring terraces, the refined suites provide free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and living rooms; some have private pools and/or sea views. Room service is offered 24/7.

Egypt’s Red Sea is teeming with colourful sea life and unspoilt coral reefs. Its crystal clear waters and unique underwater gardens are globally renowned as an aquatic paradise for beginners and advanced divers. Spanning 48 acres on the Red Sea shore, our all suite hotel has been carefully designed to allow you space.

It features high domed ceilings and is bathed in natural light; and dotted with traditional design elements; from the auspicious eight pointed star to neoclassic columns and handcrafted lanterns.

Breakfast is complimentary. Other amenities include 2 restaurants and a chic bar; open-air dining is available in a gazebo with views of the sea.

There’s also a spa, a fitness center and an outdoor pool, plus a private beach, a scuba dive center, and a golf cart shuttle. Cooking classes and area excursions can be arranged.

We were then taken to our room (we were upgraded to a Superior Deluxe) via their golf cart service – our room was located on the first tier of rooms by the ocean. Breathtaking to look out upon the enticing, dreamy-blue waters.

Our room was perfect for two people with its sitting area (where every morning you are given a bowl of different fruits), outdoor eating and lounging area, walk-in closet, and bathroom.

The sunken bathtub calls to you to relax – the only note here is that there usually isn’t enough hot water to properly fill it.

Room service is excellent and very accommodating – thank you to the delivery staff who took care of us. I wound up coming down with a cold while there, and the hotel made every concession to help me with ginger tea, the delivery of DVDs when I was feeling very poorly (decent film selection – for kicks we watched “Lawrence of Arabia”), and the preparation of special meals if I needed them.

The breakfast buffet is delicious (if you are open to trying a variety of cultural cuisines – try the Egyptian and Indian breakfasts) which is served in the main restaurant.

The Indian Restaurant was only open 1-day during our stay (again delectable) however, the Chef made us special Indian dishes as well as gluten-free breads whenever we asked.

Our villa opened onto the beach, complete with rustic umbrellas and loungers, each camp surrounded by smart canvas screens against the frequent stiff breezes. The beach is kept immaculate, as are the villas. First class housekeeping throughout, and good bar service on the beach too.

Our villa was large (though not the most expensive) with a sitting area indoors, high ceilings, and an open air courtyard, very private, with two sunbeds and four chairs round a big table. The decor is Middle Eastern and attractive throughout the villa. With a huge double bed, immense down pillows, and a goose-feather mattress topper, Madam claimed it was the most comfortable she had ever found, and she will upgrade our beds at home !

There is a big bathroom, complete with bidet and sunken marble bath, which however takes an hour to fill a few inches deep – the big shower is quicker by far. There is a good walk-in dressing room with plenty of hangers and drawers.

Tea and coffee available next to the room minibar. Altogether a charming and well-appointed apartment, well-kept by the housekeeping staff.

Clientele was mixed, including Dutch, German, French, British, and Muslim visitors from other nearby Arab states. The atmosphere was calm and quite, especially round the beautiful three-level infinity pool, where towels arrive almost before you choose your sunbed. At half term there was an influx of children of various nationalities, all very well behaved.

The hotel’s fleet of chauffeur driven Mercedes are much nicer than small local taxis and surprisingly good value for private trips.

This was our fifth visit and each time we like it even more. The pools are kept really clean, staff handling food always wear gloves and staff are friendly and helpful all the time. The 24 hour doctor service is excellent, the management are approachable and happy to discuss any problems. Please remember this is a predominately Muslim country and leave your need for a British fry up at home – there is no pork bacon, the sausages are not what we are used to but you can have boiled, fried, scrambled or poached eggs and freshly made omelettes.
Beautiful bread available at every meal. The grills are good and there is plenty of fish and lovely salads. The beef this time was especially good. No hesitation in recommending this hotel at all.
Restaurants to try in order of “bestestness” IMHO include the Asian, Italian, Mongolian, Spanish, Boulevard (burger joint but nice) – I was only there 11 days and the rest of the time I was at the main restaurant or outdoor bbq – which was more than good!
REMEMBER Egypt is a Muslim country – DON’T EXPECT PORK OR ANY BACON SANDWICHES. Major contrasts in the pool – Burka’s next to bikini, so no topless ladies please!
Food first as I like eating on holiday! Please, if you want bacon, eggs and sausages for breakfast do not book a holiday in Egypt! It is a Muslim country ! If you want to experience different foods this hotel gives you the opportunity to do so, as well as providing British food . The choice for breakfast is enormous – omlettes cooked as you watch, boiled, scrambled or fried eggs, fresh fruit and yoghurt, wonderful rolls and bread, bread to toast, pancakes and superb donuts, iced buns……. Lunch and dinner always had a large variety of fresh salads whch you could watch being made, rice, noodles, potato dishes including chips of course. A pasta bar would serve you what you chose to eat again freshly made and a wonderful egyptian lady made pizzas to die for.
During the course of our holiday we had steak, roast beef and lamb, beef and chicken dishes and a wide range of fish. We also had lovely grilled dishes most days and my partner found himself in prawn and squid heaven!
Rooms: nicely but simply decorated with good quality Arabian-style furniture in neutral colours. Curtains block light well at night. We had a twin-room for all of us and there was a super-king and two single beds and still plenty of room.

Family rooms have two separate sleeping areas with bathroom in between. Bathrooms are large too. Air-conditioning works well and quietly.

Staff: This is the standout feature of this hotel despite being really happy with everything else. The staff are wonderful, work very hard, are very cheerful and nothing is too much trouble.

Everywhere you look there is a member of staff, checking, clearing, cleaning. Management regularly seen chatting to staff and guests and keeping an eye on things. This attention to detail amazed us every day.

Guests: A wide mix of nationalities who all mainly speak English. Lots of Egyptian families who vary greatly from strict Muslims to more liberal Muslims or Christian families and it was interesting to see how well all the nationalities and cultures rubbed along well together. You will see everything from the niqab and burkinis, to the Germans in their thongs.

It boasts over 1,001 comfortable rooms equipped with all the latest facilities, services and amenities as well as the “Mercato” shopping complex and a conference centre for up to 1500 people.
The people are absolutely welcoming. The weather was wonderful. Dry heat – sunny and windy… never felt the heat of the sun.
The hotel… Ahh!! SO BEAUTIFUL. I would go again and again to Aquamarine.
hey made sure that our glasses were never empty. The food was decadent. My husband loves to eat seafood (which they also had offered) and he loved the fish and crabs.
They really cater it for European customers. For Muslims, everything is Halal which was great!
The best pool though was the one near the beach. It wasn’t crowded with too many children nor was it that full. It even looked like a beach, very nicely designed.

The hotel itself is very nice and the facilities in general very good with lots of different pool , catering for all ages. It’s a huge complex as it is linked with the sister hotel, but there are plenty of area to sit during the day and evening.

The inside bar (blue bar) is excellent, very nicely decorated, big, air conned, and plenty of space.

The staff are very good in particular at the Al Carte restaurants. The food at the Al Carte restaurant is excellent and much better than the main restaurant buffet.

I would say the best was Sofra (meditarrean), the food choice is good, very good quality & tasty food. Michael who helps manage the restaurant is excellent and will do everything to make your evening comfortable and pleasant, and also clarified the contents of some of the dishes. I recommend this one. There should be more managers like Michael (Thanks).
The Asian and the Italian restaurants are also excellent with great customer service.

The hotel family rooms are generally good, spacious and have a decent size bathroom. They all could do with a bit of freshening up.

The Animation team could do more to entertain and interact with guests.

The hotel SPA (pay for this) is really nice, the indoor pool, steam & sauna rooms are nice, and the massage was superb, the best I had in a long time.

. One of the four Al-la-carte restaurants does specialise in fish dishes though.
For lunch and dinner, a BBQ occurs each day, usually serving some very chard looking chicken.
As Egypt is a Muslim country, no pork is served — so don’t expect bacon, or pork sausages at breakfast.
