Halal Hotels Kota Kinabalu

Malaysia is a country whose most professed religion is Islam. As of 2013, there were approximately 19.5 million Muslim adherents, or 61.3% of the population

By Crescent Rating, Malaysia is 1st rated among most Muslim-friendly countries.

How many mosques are there in Malaysia

The total number of mosques in Malaysia at present is around 6,077 which were based on the data obtained from Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM) website. On the average, about ninety two percent (92%) of mosques in each state of Malaysia falls under the category of qaryah mosques.

Like other tourists, Muslim travelers coming from Islamic countries have particular requirements when they choose the destination for their vacation. Among these requirements, Muslims are concerned about the availability of halal compliant foods (no pork or alcohol in food) and a clean place to pray.

Many international hotels in Malaysia do serve halal food that is slaughtered in accordance with the teachings of Islamic Sharia and is free of any substances forbidden by Islam such as pork and alcohol.

Other Islamic countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Oman and Brunei continue to be popular with Muslim tourists. Among non-OIC countries, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, Japan and Taiwan remain the top five respectively, but show improved scores on the index.

Superb hotel, affordable price, the room is nice & clean, TV got several channel like HBO/FOX, AC/hot shower working well, toiletries available, breakfast is good, staff is friendly. Free parking for guest available.

Hotel very near to waterfront (walking distance), oceanus mall just in front of hotel.

The good things first: location was pretty good. Staff were reasonably friendly, and the housekeeping staff greeted me warmly on my way to my breakfast and back(!)

Lots of choices in the breakfast buffet (Chinese/Western/Malay food). The basic amenities (room and hotel) were pretty good and rooms were pretty quiet.

Very strategic you can walk to find almost everything from foods, convenience store and two shopping centre. 20 mins walking to Todak waterfront, halal seafood heaven to muslim.

Wifi is great. Room is superclean with seaview. Two thumbs up for this hotel. Definitely be my regular hotel for business or leisure trip.

The hotel is situated at the heart of the city and easy to find transportation. The food is good and Halal, for buffet it will cost you RM60.00 per person which is considered cheap for European but not to most Malaysian. Even the Chinese Restaurant is Halal. You should choose the room with sea view.

You can see the islands with the sun rise and sun set. There is an internet connection inside the room. For four stars hotel, i am satisfied and will surely come to stay again.

The spa comprises of 5 single villas, 3 couples’ villas and an open Yoga Pavilion, all located on Pulau Bayu, the resort’s private island. It is one of the only two five-star spas in Kota Kinabalu.

The sea view room we had at the more subdued Kinabalu Wing was spacious , functional and well appointed. Flat screen TV was huge but channels are not that extensive in selection compared to the other Shang properties. The room was well lighted, with a balcony overlooking the sea and its grounds,, and the bed was very comfortable.

An extra is the sofa which can double as a foldaway bed as well. Bathroom had a tub and a separate shower area which has good water pressure and temperature. Another nice touch is the 2 liters of complimentary drinking water provided daily.

had dined several times in this resort, and I find the food to be good enough (take note that they serve only halal food to conform with standards of Islam ).

I had nice experiences with having room service (twice) , dining at Pepino the Italian restaurant and at Cafe Tatu where I had breakfast and lunch. Buffet breakfast had an extensive selection in the coffee shop.

Food was extremely for us and our baby as they served Halal food and porridge for the little one.

As a predominantly Muslim country, Malaysia has high tax on alcohol and it is not cheap to buy in Borneo either. Subsequently it is worthwhile using the room’s fridge to stock up on a few city bought beers to have when spending the evening in the room.

Room – we stayed at Kinabalu Wing sea view room at 3rd floor but the sea view was in fact partly blocked by the palm/coconut tree in front. Next time I will definitely stay at Tanjung Wing since it is nearer to the pool.

The room is big enough for 2 adults and 2 kids and the hotel was kind enough to convert the sofa into a bed for the kid for free. The room cleanliness was superb.

Pool and kid club – the pool, the waterslides are excellent for kids and they had no complaints, the kid club is free and opens till 8:00 pm

Breakfast – although there are lots of variety of food for breakfast but quite a portion is for muslim/indian favor. The variety changed a little daily.

Room is very spacious (one of its kind) as compared to many other 5-star hotels. The room was well designed with everything at their right place. The bath too has a great setting with a large shower where one can really sock under it for a long time.

Enjoyed its very Asian breakfast & the dining menu was superb (Arabic Asian fusion) & very inviting. I enjoyed eating their Chicken Wonton Soup/dried noodle. Wall filled with huge posters of Arabic scenes & its cafe has big palm trees.

Islamic concept hotel. Very very convenient for muslim. Within 5 minutes drive from airport. Have a spacious room with large shower.

Overall, I love to return staying at this hotel if I have an opportunity to visit KK again next time but need to ensure the WiFi connection has been repair before proceed with booking process. Recommended to all muslim as the hotel is strictly follow the shariah compliance.

For is a Muslim concept hotel, so if you are a foreigner and wanna have a party with liquor, then you’re at the wrong place, as liquor isn’t allowed.

We were all surprised by how spacious our room was (triple standard room) and still looked new (I understand that a major renovation was done some years ago). Bathroom was also spacious and we thoroughly enjoyed the rain-shower. Basic necessities like the fridge, coffee mugs, etc are provided. The Muslim prayer-mat provided in each room is definitely a plus, well done!

The beds & pillows are okay and we all slept well. Breakfast was good and the choices were definitely more than some hotels I have been at.

The food was delish and I think TH Hotel offers the best Halal food instead of another hotel.

I recommended people to try to stay at this such lavish hotel because their staffs are well trained to treat well towards their customers.

Dining & entertainment The Pines’ caters local, Chinese & Western cuisine. On cool windy nights, try ordering Steamboat (Chinese hot pot).

There is a bar serving a limited range of alcoholic drinks but we needed to get it unlocked and were the only people in there, early evening. (The restaurant is halal so understandably, does not allow alcohol but it can be purchased from the hotel shop).

The rooms are small but comfortable with a limited satellite TV (Astro) there were programs in Malay, Chinese & English (including a movie and sport channel). The free wi-fi was also handy if a little slow.

With 332 rooms and suites, four dining outlets including a rooftop bar, meeting venues, a grand ballroom, an infinity pool, and a 24-hour gym. Whether it is work or play, we let you create your own experience.

The location is super excellent, probably the best in KK. It is just 10 minutes from the airport, and located at the ocean with a beautiful view.

There are no working desk and chair in the rooms, instead it has a low sofa-table, with no normal chair. When I questioned that, they claimed that this hotel is designed for recreation not business. This is weird, as it is a standard city-business hotel not a resort. Seems to be, this is some crazy neo-design.

Most rooms have shower only, but suites and some other grade rooms do have a bathtub as well.
Water pressure was very good.
All toilets have a Toto seat washlet (bidet).

WiFi bandwidth was very good, but was at certain times it was instable.

The airplane route I just over the head of the hotel, but noise wasn’t disturbing, seems to be their acoustics was well done.
Bed and quilt are top quality, and sleep quality is heavenly.

There was no clock on the bedside cabinet, but this will probably arrive one of the days.

Executive club is in the 15th floor (there is no 13th floor). M-Club as it is called, is extra-large, beautiful and well planned. There are no guest room on this floor, just a bar and restaurants. However, M-Club has a dedicated elevator, and only executive guests have access to this part of the hotel.

Service was great all over the place, every worker trying to go the extra mile for you. I will not name anyone, as the list will be too long.
