According to the latest Eurobarometer poll (2019), on the other hand, the Muslim population in France is 5% of the total population
By Crescent Rating, France is 32nd rated among most Muslim-friendly countries.
How many mosques are there in France?
In all, there are 2,200 mosques in use in France that were built expressly as mosques.
The Muslim friendly hotel means a hotel that has Islamic characteristics that can provide basic facilities that are more friendly to Muslim customers such as a Qibla direction indicator, the availability of prayer tools, the presence of halal food / list of nearby restaurants that provide halal food.

Like other tourists, Muslim travelers coming from Islamic countries have particular requirements when they choose the destination for their vacation. Among these requirements, Muslims are concerned about the availability of halal compliant foods (no pork or alcohol in food) and a clean place to pray.

Many international hotels in Marseille do serve halal food that is slaughtered in accordance with the teachings of Islamic Sharia and is free of any substances forbidden by Islam such as pork and alcohol.

Other Islamic countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Oman and Brunei continue to be popular with Muslim tourists. Among non-OIC countries, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, Japan and Taiwan remain the top five respectively, but show improved scores on the index.

Marseille, a port city in southern France, has been a crossroads of immigration and trade since its founding by the Greeks circa 600 B.C. At its heart is the Vieux-Port (Old Port), where fishmongers sell their catch along the boat-lined quay. Basilique Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde is a Romanesque-Byzantine church. Modern landmarks include Le Corbusier’s influential Cité Radieuse complex and Zaha Hadid’s CMA CGM Tower.

The hotel was located very conveniently close to both metro and tram stops for easy travel around the city and easy walking to the Old Port with its restaurants. Typical of a business hotel, the staff were efficient but remote.

The room was very clean and comfortable with relaxing chairs. The breakfast was very good with a good selection of hot and cold food and excellent croissants.

Right in the middle of everything, yet quiet and tranquil when you need to retreat. Check in was smooth, quick and easy, very lovely hotel staff.

The room is as you would expect if you have seen the photos, nothing fancy, basic but clean, with stunning views and great air conditioning. The shopping centre next door is so handy, with a Carrefour supermarket stocking everything you might need.

Breakfast was ok, plenty of everything and good coffee. Can’t fault the location of this hotel, we walked everywhere, including to St.Charles station, where you can get the airport shuttle. Good value for money.

2. NH Collection Marseille 4* – Muslim Friendly Hotels Marseille

NH Collection Marseille

Featuring a cocktail bar, garden and a fitness centre on the 6th floor, NH Collection Marseille is located in the new business and leisure district of Marseille, La Joliette. Located between the port and the city centre, the building was inaugurated by Napoleon III in 1864 and preserves its original style.

Rooms at NH Collection Marseille feature elegant décor and offer an electric kettle, coffee machine and private bathroom.

Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant, which serves local and international dishes with a variety of local cheeses and wines.

Set in a Haussmann-style building in the buzzy La Joliette neighborhood, this chic hotel is a 5-minute walk from La Vieille Charité, a cultural center in a 17th-century almshouse, and 1 km from Marseille Saint-Charles train station.

Airy, minimalist rooms come with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and minibars, plus tea and coffeemakers. All offer sitting areas; suites add separate living rooms. Room service is available.

There’s a contemporary tapas restaurant and a sophisticated lobby bar, as well as a terrace. Other amenities include a gym and a sauna.

Close to the hotel you’ll find the must-see attractions such as the picturesque old port, the city’s old town and the famous MUCEM museum.

If you would like to go shopping, Rue de la République, with its Haussmann-style buildings, is one of the city’s best shopping streets.

The hotel is located about 0.5 kilometer from the train station but a steep walk going towards it, I think we lost weight while on this vacation negotiating this road several times.
If you read this and are unaware of places to go, try Chateau D’If. It’s an island akin to Alcatraz in San Francisco and is the setting for Alexander Dumas’ novel The Count of Monte Cristo. I can assure you won’t regret it.

And don’t forget to shop for sábon Marseille at the market located around where you board the ferry, it’s a wonderful, inexpensive, gift for your friends instead of a T-Shirt, or keychains.

The hotel sits in easy walk of the Vieux Port and Panier area where there are some wonderful walk in bars and restaurants. Situated on a beautiful tree lined avenue, the rooms are specious, decorated in a modern minimalist style and well maintained.

The staff were particularly helpful and attentive.

There is a good restaurant that provides breakfast with extensive choice and a lobby bar. The hotel also has a gym. Great for vacation and business travel; I also saw many families with children.

I would highly recommend!

. This is a WONDERFUL small boutique hotel with only 30 rooms. It’s in a redone 19th century house with a lot of original features. Impeccably done and everything thought out. The rooms are huge! The staff is so nice and helpful. Great drinks at the bar.

Love music on Wednesday night. And a SPA that’s included. There is an interior courtyard with 2 living walls of plants. So peaceful. They even include all the bottles water you want.

. Good choice of hotel as it was centrally located but a bit tucked away in a quieter part of the city. Small boutique hotel that has a very chic feeling. Love how the room has high ceiling and massive window, and that the furnishings are so modern, the minibars are free, and the toiletries are Hermes!

Great service and attitude from everyone that we’ve encountered there, from the receptionist, concierge (helped us with directions and restaurant bookings) and the valet parking attendance.

This very modern boutique hotel is situated in a great location being in walking distance of the Old Port, museums and shopping.

The rooms are very modern and ours was both large with high ceilings and a great bathroom with loads of towels, and toiletries
Fittings are white and the carpet is a map of the area in black Quirky!

The breakfast buffet was really nice good selection of hot and cold dishes and breads and patisserie which did my waist line no good Oh well.and a courtyard to sit and water drink,as there is a funky bar which has a lovely vibe.

There is mini spa in the basement with a small pool not long enough to swim buy certainly romantic on one hand and social on the other.
