The official form of Islam is Sunni of the Hanbali school, in its Salafi version. According to official statistics 90% of Saudi Arabian citizens are Sunni Muslims, 10% are Shia. (More than 30% of the population is made up of foreign workers who are predominantly but not entirely Muslim.)

By Crescent Rating, Saudi Arabia is 6th rated among most Muslim-friendly countries.

How many mosques are there in Saudi Arabia

The number of mosques operating in the Saudi Arabia is approximately 90,000. The Seven Mosques (Arabic: المساجد السبعة‎ Al-Masajid As-Sab’ah) or Sab’u Masajid is a complex of six small historic and often visited mosques in the city of Medina, Saudi Arabia.

Like other tourists, Muslim travelers coming from Islamic countries have particular requirements when they choose the destination for their vacation. Among these requirements, Muslims are concerned about the availability of halal compliant foods (no pork or alcohol in food) and a clean place to pray.

Many international hotels in Saudi Arabia do serve halal food that is slaughtered in accordance with the teachings of Islamic Sharia and is free of any substances forbidden by Islam such as pork and alcohol.

Other Islamic countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Oman and Brunei continue to be popular with Muslim tourists. Among non-OIC countries, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, Japan and Taiwan remain the top five respectively, but show improved scores on the index.

Nice and spacious room for three occupancy. Great hospitality makes you feel at home.. Enjoy its delicious and variety of food. Strategic location as it is near to baitullah and the best of all, you can hear the recital by imam in masjidil haram directly at your room in this hotel.
Restaurant, like most of Makkah hotels, has variety of delicious food. Location is good for walking to the holy mosque, but very difficult for cars and taxi drop off and pick up.
Location is about 5-8 mins away from Masjidil Haram, wasn’t a hassle but might be abit far for the eldery or those with wheelchair. Room is spacious but condition seems abit worn down especially the bathroom. No hot water at all for both rooms and we didn’t raise with the reception.
Buffet at 21st is really fantastic but seats are limited and is always very crowded. Great view and wide variety of choices. Love this particular dessert Kunafa which is served during lunch everyday.

A breakfast buffet and valet parking are complimentary. There’s also a cafe, along with 2 international restaurants.

ZamZam Pullman Makkah stands as a distinctive landmark in Makkah, located in the spectacular new Abraj Al Bait complex, directly adjoining Masjid Al Haram and the holy Kaaba in the very heart of Makkah facing King Abdulaziz gate. This masterpiece offers the finest hospitality in Makkah, having 1315 elegantly appointed rooms and suites with extravagant amenities, two contemporary dining options and five-star-deluxe services filled with spirituality while enjoying direct views over the holy Kaaba.
The rooms are spacious and well lit, you may get a nice little kitchen where you can make yourself tea, or put your shopping or leftover food in the fridge.
There is good storage space. the showers are good, and sufficient supplies towels. housekeeping and cleanliness are excellent, they do a really good job keeping it tidy and change the bedsheets for you everyday.
Depend where you are you can get a view of Allah’s sacred mosque from your bedroom. had a nice dining table where you can eat in privacy of your room.
Cool restaurant, get generous food portions really cheap, varied items. healthy fish meal or halal burgers, if you like even.
The hotels own restaurant is alright, english/american breakfast food and indonesian food too Rice and curry for breakfast.

The best of things was the view. Though mentioned as Partial Kaaba view, the Kaaba was fully visible from the room. Maybe they use the word partial because you will have to push yourself a little to one end to have a whole view of Haram. But Kaaba was perfectly centered and visible from the room. In room sound system for prayer and Adhaan directly from the Haram.

Note that even though you are at proximity of the Haram, Adhaan or prayer won’t be really audible except when you use the sound system. You could adjust the volume basis needs.

Also you will have to use two lifts to reach your room. One lift brings you from the Tower basé to level P11, where the Hotel reception is. Then you will have to enter the Hotel and get a second lift to reach your room. But it wasn’t a hassle except very few times as lifts were fast.

Exit your room to enter Haram should take anywhere from 5-20 minutes depending on your walking speed and lift availability.

I would strongly recommend Pullman Zamzam Makkah to have an easier Umrah trip as the proximity to Haram gives you the ability to come back to the room or go the Haram at your will.

Just peep out the window to see the crowd in the Haram to plan your activities.

What an experience me and my family had with a breathtaking panoramic Kaaba view from our signature suite. The suite and the service from Raffles was outstanding. Check in was breeze and the facilities top class.

Close proximity to Haram and elevator easy access. May Allah gives every Muslim an opportunity to visit holy Kaaba.

We are lucky to get accommodated in one of the luxurious property near to Haram which made everything easier for us.

The location is unbeaten located in the front line of the haram in the Abraj-al-Bait tower. The hotel has 8 dedicated lifts which are for hotel guests only so no need to worry about standing in long queues trying to get the lift to the hotel lobby.

From the moment you enter the hotel you are overcome by the sheer opulence and Arabian luxury. The smell of oud invites you into the well appointed lobby area.

The room had a guest bathroom, lounge and dining area, bedroom and en-suite. All the bathroom amenities were ‘Aigner White’ and it smells amazing.
A fully stocked mini bar with a huge array of Patchi chocolates and all at very reasonable prices as well.

You have a butler on call who is ever willing to see to whatever you may require. He also provided a daily fruit basket and patisserie platter which was a really special touch.

The staff in this establishment are super attentive and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Breakfast was outstanding with a huge selection of local as well as international items to choose from. Freshly squeezed juice and artisanal honey are just some of the luxuries you can expect.

This has been my 4th stay at this hotel in 2 years and the service has been absolutely consistent.

They maintain a very high standard without any compromise.
Inshallah I will get the opportunity to visit my Raffles Makkah Palace ‘family’ again very soon.

5. Conrad Makkah 5* – Halal Hotels Mecca

Conrad Makkah

Savor Arabic specialties and international dishes from the set or a-la-carte menus, or be spoiled for choice with the extensive buffet selections at the relaxed, all-day dining restaurant, Al Mearaj. Overlooking the Haram, our specialty steak restaurant Prime, serves only the finest, freshest cuts of meat, cooked just the way you like them in the vibrant open kitchen.

This refined luxury hotel is a 7-minute drive from Masjid al-Ḥarām, Islam’s most important mosque, which houses the Kaaba.

Polished rooms provide minibars, free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs, plus tea and coffeemaking facilities. Some add sofas, floor-to-ceiling windows, and/or views of the mosque or the Kaaba. Suites add butlers and access to a private lounge; some have living rooms and/or kitchens. Room service is available 24/7. Kids age 11 and under (2 per room) stay at no charge with an adult.

Location – Right across the plaza from the Masjid Al-Haram, Islam’s holiest site. Ideal for religious pilgrimage trips (eg. Umrah) as it is only 2-3mins walk away.
Wonderful view especially from the Al-Safa Tower. For rooms with the Al-Haram views, the higher the floor the more breathtaking the view. The Makkah Royal Clock Tower and the hills to the east are also awesome sights.

Wonderful breakfast at the Al-Meeraj restaurant! Such a vast selection of international dishes alongside custom stations (eg. egg and pancake/waffle station). Such great views of the Holy Mosque.

The Al-Kawthar cafe, comfy and cozy coffee house, also has a lovely view of the Al-Haram. Service is ROYAL! Hot drinks, lassi, and cakes are delicious.

But do note it’s the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA)… that means no alcohol at all, anywhere. That means strict dress codes (cover everything but the face, feet, and hands for women; cover from above the navel to below the knee for men, although being shirtless for no reason will also get men into big trouble with the Sharia police). That means no insulting the country, the royals, the government and authorities, the law, and the religion Islam. The two Muslim sanctuary cities Mecca (Makkah) and Medina (Madinah) do not allow non-Muslims within their boundaries. Laws of the land. Breaking them will result in SEVERE punishment, a message repeatedly reminded to you by the Saudi Embassy (pretty much everyone needs to apply for a visa to visit).
