According to the constitution, the country is a Muslim state, with full sovereignty, and Islam is the religion of the state. The constitution guarantees freedom of thought, expression, and assembly, and says the state guarantees every individual the freedom to practice his religious affairs.

Islam is the largest religion in Morocco, with more than 99% of the population adhering to it. The largest subset of Muslims in Morocco are Maliki Sunni; other numerous groups include practitioners of Zahirism and non-denominational Muslims.

The North African country of Morocco (officially a kingdom) is ideal for Muslim travelers. Almost 99 percent of the population is Muslim. Not just that, tourism is one of the main pillars of Moroccan economy, which makes the place tourist-friendly.
By Crescent Rating, Morocco is rated 7th among most Muslim-friendly countries.
How many mosques are there in Morocco?
This is a list of mosques in Morocco. According to the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in 2016, there are around 41,755 mosques in Morocco, of which 16,489 are Jama Masjids, and 10,061 are specifically designated as culturally significant.

The Muslim friendly hotel means a hotel that has Islamic characteristics that can provide basic facilities that are more friendly to Muslim customers such as a Qibla direction indicator, the availability of prayer tools, the presence of halal food / list of nearby restaurants that provide halal food.

Like other tourists, Muslim travelers coming from Islamic countries have particular requirements when they choose the destination for their vacation. Among these requirements, Muslims are concerned about the availability of halal compliant foods (no pork or alcohol in food) and a clean place to pray.

Many international hotels in Morocco do serve halal food that is slaughtered in accordance with the teachings of Islamic Sharia and is free of any substances forbidden by Islam such as pork and alcohol.

Other Islamic countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Oman and Brunei continue to be popular with Muslim tourists. Among non-OIC countries, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, Japan and Taiwan remain the top five respectively, but show improved scores on the index.

This amazing resort exceeded my expectation in location and the Quality of service.
First at the check-in I was impressed with staffs’ greeting and hospitality. Everyone was cheerful and showed honest welcome. (Bell host, security personnel and the receptionist).
The hotel’s interior and its view are stunning I could not rate it highly enough.
The apartment was so spacious with the most amazing view ever (which I should thank Miss Sanaa for her assistance and care).
The bedroom, living-room, kitchen and bathrooms were clean and equipped with all required amenities and modern furnitures.
The view from the balcony is just wooow during the day/night, sunset/sunrise. Each moment of the day had its own charm and beauty. I spent more time in the balcony during this trip.
Quemado beach is just in front of the hotel, the water is so clean and the color is turquoise with white sands.
The breakfast/dinner buffets had great service an the food was flavorsome.
This hotel has an amazing location and very clean beach. I like all the facilities in the hotel but above all, I recommend the restaurant. It has a very nice menu, reasonably priced.
It is very clean and staff are very helpful. Special mention to chef Ali for his delicious dishes and daily specials. (especially the mix grilled fish menu – called Fritura)
The restaurant manager is also very efficient and personally looks after each client.

Location: conveniently located just steps from the old medina. Taxi service right to your front door. 15 minute taxi ride from train station; 25 minutes from airport.
Ambiance: The Riad is an oasis and sanctuary. So peaceful and calming. The interior architecture and details are stunning and beautifully restored. The rooftop is comfortable and views are amazing.
Rooms: Our room – the Ambassador – was large, spotless and nicely appointed with TV, refrigerator, desk, sitting area, large bathroom. Room was soundproof quiet, and overlooked interior courtyard of the Riad.
Food: Probably the best food we had in Morocco – not just Fes. Dinner (twice), and daily breakfast were excellent. Will write a separate review on the restaurant.
Service: Saved the best for last. Riebel, the owner, and his staff treated us like family. It was unbelievable how gracious and accommodating they were.
This Riad is beautifully decorated with authentic Moroccan details. The owner Reibal took great care with the renovation, and my husband and I loved the spaces: airy covered courtyard for breakfast and dinner, large bedroom with charming woodwork and colored glass, luxurious bathroom (great tub and shower, supersoft robes). Most impressive was the hospitality. Reibal helped us arrange our ride from the airport to the riad. When we arrived he greeted us with tea and cookies, then shared a detailed map and recommendations for navigating the Medina.
Whenever we needed a taxi, the staff helped us get one and took care of negotiating the price. Also, the food is incredible. Big breakfast of crepes, fruit, eggs, pastries, yogurt.

It is located 36 kilometres from Rissani, a 7-minute drive from the centre of Merzouga (free shuttle between Merzouga-hotel) and only a stone’s throw away of the famous dunes of Erg Chebbi. Kanz Erremal has a haimas camp and also organizes a ridding a camel trip in order to spend a night in the desert. Furthermore, it organizes seven-road trips to explore the spectacular places that the landscape offers. The Hotel has the structure of a typical kasbah: it is made of adobe mud and hay. The rooms have a traditional decoration, typical from the region.
They have air conditioning, free wifi access, bathroom and great external views, most of them to the dunes. The pool is located in front of the dunes, so swimmers have the impression to swim in the middle of the desert.
The hotel offers a good example of traditional Moroccan cuisine based on natural ingredients: hariras (soups), vegetable tagine, chicken, beef, lamb, varied couscous, raw and cooked salads, skewers, Berber pizza.
In short, Kanz Erremal is a place of peace and authenticity and a good site in order to discover the spectacular golden sand of the Sahara dunes.
The hotel is located at the edge of the Sahara Desert in Merzouga, close to the Algerian border, you can actually see it from the top of the dunes. The view is breathtaking and the staff is super friendly!
They are generous when it comes to meals i felt like they were feeding 5 people when it was just the two of us. They tried making everyday special with different foods and local specialities (we stayed for 5 days and never ate the same thing twice). It was the best and most relaxing holiday i’ve had in years.
The hotel is just 5 mins away from the “center”, everyday was magical we relaxed near the pool the first day and then went for Quad riding in the desert, 3rd day was buggy day and the last day we rode a Camel.
You have to experience it to understand the degree of relaxation and the spirit you find yourself in and i couldn’t have chosen for a better hotel to experience this. Thank you Kanz Erremal.
A unique hotel made from mud and straw, situated right at the base of the Sahara Desert. A nice eating area and large lobby with couches and tables which can accommodate a large group.
Since it was January, it was a bit too cool for use of the pool but the camel rides are right outside and had a great experience with our group, riding across the nearby desert hills.

The facilities are super modern, the hotel is very clean and the rooms are cozy! The HK team were super reactive and paid attention to every single details, I am a person who is paying a lot of attention to hygiene, I felt very comfortable at the Barcelo.

My room was super cozy with a wonderful view on Hassan II mosque. Breakfast was great and the F&B team were very flexible and helpful to prepare a personalized breakfast for me since I am an athlete and I am following a specific diet!

I experimented the Spa and Hammam facilities and I had a pleasant experience. The gym is well equipped with all machines needed for a proper workout session!

The Barcelo D’Anfa is far and away the best I’ve tried. The service was excellent and friendly (Fatima at the front desk was particularly kind and helpful) in all areas, from the front desk to the restaurant; the rooms are clean, reasonably spacious and modern; the fitness facilities are good; the lobby is beautifully furnished and is an inviting place to relax, as is the pool deck; the food that I tried (breakfast buffet and dinner buffet) was also very good; and i had a great hammam treatment at the spa for a reasonable price.

It’s the little things that matter – the WiFi was great all over; there is a self-service espresso machine at breakfast so you don’t have to special order drinkable coffee and wait ages for it to come; the light switches in the room make sense; the shower is easy to operate and just requires the push of a button.

The resort is one of the most beautiful resorts I’ve been to , the villa we stayed in was beautifully decorated, it was a one bedroom with a living space , a dressing room, a kitchen, and a nice backyard with a pool and a jacuzzi.

The high sealing added to the beauty of the place , the breakfast was amazing specially if your host was Rachida , she is very hospitable and makes you feel at home with her nice smile and service.

Amazing experience with Banyan Tree from check-in to check-out. When we arrived in Tangier we were greeted at the airport by Abdul the driver who quickly got us to the hotel. When we arrived at BT we were upgraded to a superior villa by the manager who always found a way to make us feel welcome. The villa itself was outstanding. Spacious, clean and the private pool and hot tub were an excellent place to spend the day.

The food was great for breakfast and lunch, and dinner at Saffron the Thai restaurant was so good we went back two nights in a row. We took a day trip to Chefchaouen with Abdul the driver, and it was smooth and a great place to see some local culture. The service at the hotel was amazing.

Even though the place has only been open a year, the employees are the highlight. Everyone was kind, helpful, and genuinely interested in making out stay as comfortable as possible.
