Halal Hotels Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka’s population practices a variety of religions. As of the 2012 census, 70.2% of Sri Lankans were Buddhists, 12.6% were Hindus, 9.7% were Muslims (mainly Sunni), 7.4% were Christians (mostly Catholics) and 0.05% others.
Like other tourists, Muslim travelers coming from Islamic countries have particular requirements when they choose the destination for their vacation. Among these requirements, Muslims are concerned about the availability of halal compliant foods (no pork or alcohol in food) and a clean place to pray.
Many international hotels in Sri Lanka do serve halal food that is slaughtered in accordance with the teachings of Islamic Sharia and is free of any substances forbidden by Islam such as pork and alcohol.
Other Islamic countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Oman and Brunei continue to be popular with Muslim tourists. Among non-OIC countries, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, Japan and Taiwan remain the top five respectively, but show improved scores on the index.

Breathe in that fresh sea air and feel the warmth of the sun against your skin.
The location, right between the beach and the lagoon, was perfect and the staff was incredibly accommodating. Mr Jayantha and Mr Deveen especially were very understanding and inclined to look into the special requests of each family member to ensure that we enjoyed the stay.
The rooms were clean, comfortable and airy. To our surprise, the minibar was on-the-house. The gardens and pool were fantastic but the beach was unusable due to the current season. However, the resort had a variety of activities to compensate for the beach and kept us entertained.
Kudos to the restaurant and kitchen staff! The meals were on point (especially the Sri Lankan cuisine), with good variety in the buffet.
Plus point for Muslim travellers: the food was also halal certified.
The view of bay and sea is awesome. I like the gesture, and the staff hospitality.
Very friendly environment. As Muslim I would prefer to keep away non halal food from other foods. Also I saw that they were many Arab national who is visiting and they would also like that food to kept separate.
The room itself was pleasant and clean. We opted for a lagoon view room, as suggested by other reviews. The instinct is to opt for sea view, but the view of the sea is minimal really, and partially obscured by palm trees. It also really means you are looking over the pool. Sitting on the terrace at night viewing the lagoon seemed a much more pleasant experience. You will also see much more local wildlife on that side. We had endless chipmunks and birds, but also the odd lizard wandering past the room outside.
The room is cleaned twice a day, including towel sculptures and flowers being left on the lovely big comfortable bed, and mosquito spraying daily. Our air conditioning worked just fine, which is essential if you aren’t used to hot evenings and like sleep.
The pool is small but clean and well kept, with plenty of loungers around it.
The resort often has live entertainment in the evening, singers, traditional dancers and the like. This can generally be heard all over the resort when it’s on. On other nights, simply sitting at the bar, or at one of the tables dotted around outside is a lovely peaceful experience, and you will never wait long to be served drinks. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Avani and cannot recommend it enough.
As other reviews point out, though, it is a little far away from the town, so a long walk or a tuk tuk awaits you. We were generally happy to hang about the resort all day on days we weren’t on tours.

One of the few five star hotel in Colombo that don’t serve alcoholic drink and pork.
They have a praying mat and Al Quran in their spacious room.
The hotel served delicious breakfast and also dinner.
The cleaning staff did a really good job. The food was great, breakfast had everything anyone wanted, the a-la-carte menu was great, very reasonably priced, potions just right, the food tasted excellent. The service was friendly and polite.
The pool was clean, not crowded and the gym equipment works! Definitely our preferred place for our next trip to Colombo. Would definitely give 5 stars ***** also if anyone is looking for Halal food this is the place.
The staff were all friendly and terrific with them, making us all feel very welcome throughout our stay.
The hotel is of high standard and deserves 5* rather than the 4. But due to alcohol not served it doesn’t get that extra star. As muslims this hotel is exceptional and we didn’t have to worry about the food as it was all halal compliance.
Breakfast had everything you need.
he A/c is an individual unit with a remote. It’s a nice option to have as almost all hotels have central air conditioning which gets too cold sometimes. There is a balcony as well which was very clean. The carpeting is fresh the lighting in the room is bright. Sound proofing is very good. Bathroom is superb with a huge closet separate shower area with rain shower option. There is a health faucet as well. Toiletries are nice.
I did not have any complaints as the hotel is awesome centrally located and the only halal hotel in Sri Lanka. They do not serve alcohol and pork.
There is a rooftop restaurant and a swimming pool.
The best part is, it’s an halal certified hotel, which a big plus for Muslim travelers. The hotel doesn’t serve alcohol and the food is halal.

Next would like to tell about the senior chef Kelum pushpakumara . Super great services rendered by him in certifying about all foods being Halal.
A beautiful lesson can be learnt from this particular chef is that , though he is in a special high position he was very very humble and kind hearted and even served us stuffs to our table.
Super atmosphere, people,foods/beverage, rooms etc.
Value for money. Once Halal Food assurance is provided.
Amazing hotel with top class facilities and services!
Very good food and incredible breakfast.
Perfect swimming pools (one for adults only) and nice natural beach.
All the staff is extremely kind and nice and rooms very modern.
Plenty of daily activities for whole family, golf and great gym.
The sunset pool is adults only which is lovely as it is so peaceful but there are two other pools and a fantastic kids pool. You can do yoga, golf, jogging, there is a gym and even trampolining – the facilities are great.
There is lovely hanging seating all over so you can always find somewhere peaceful to sit.
We also made use of the beautiful spa which was very reasonably priced and the treatments were good!
The beech was lovely, a haven for butterflies – I just stood and watched them for ages, I have never seen butterflies like it.
The food as great – the breakfast was incredible so much choice and the quality was excellent. Same at dinner with a good wine list.
The staff a very helpful and friendly – nothing was too much trouble.
Rooms were specious and had all the 5 star amenities. We stayed in both Deluxe and Premier Ocean rooms.
Apart from the ocean view both are exactly the same. The beach is nice but the sea is rough, you cannot swim in this area,
The hotel has breathtaking views.
There are lots of activities to do from water sports, acrobatics, yoga, nature walks, cycling to golf, you will never get bored at this hotel. But to try everything you will need at least 3 days. There is also a kids play area, leisure activities, a gym and a spa.
Food was fabulous. Both breakfast and lunch had a great variety but dinner lacked it a bit. It’s awesome hotel to stay with kids. One of the best hotels I have stayed so far, highly recommended.
