Hotel S44ROOM Bangkok – Review
Location & Check in
During my Visa run from Myanmar I rarely stay other location than Sukhumvit; but the area during the peak season in Thailand is overcrowded and I started to look for a hotel close to a BTS and in the same time with direct line to the main touristic area of Sukhumvit. Then I discovered the area of Ekamai very close to many shops, cool coffee shops in Bangkok and of course malls as GateWay Ekkamai. Since I am not a matinal person this time a booked a hotel without breakfast in Bangkok. Within my budget and location was found Hotel S44Room.
The hotel is conveniently located within a 5 minute walk to the Phra Khanong skytrain station. There were a few restaurants and a Starbucks within walking distance.
The check in was fast; in the same time the receptionist did not speak very good english and no touristic indication and food places located nearby S44Room were provided.
The hotel lobby was spacious, clean with 2 separated zone. The receptionist area with a cool couch and few magazines are Lonely Planet Book and a dinning and breakfast area (even it’s not included some coffee and snacks are to be found on the second room).
There are a cool area outside surrounded by floors and orchids. The next to the hotel a kindergarden or infant school. I stayed during the weekend and there was no noise coming from there.
S44Room does not have an elevator and there is no bellboy and other person to help you with the luggages so if you have a big one you must carry yourself.
Room
There is only one room type available – The Budget Room. Room size 20 m² and the room has a balcony, air conditioning and electric kettle.
The room is huge for the price we will pay and I didn’t expect to be so big and clean. The room have a refrigerator, a comfortable BED, private bathroom and TV, but the TV has no English Chanel. The whole room including the bed is white (maybe that’s the reason why the room seemed super clean to me).
Very comfortable supportive firm mattress, one of the best I have slept on.
Wi-Fi is excellent but I did not encounter bad internet so far during my trips to Bangkok
The balcony is very small but you have to take into consideration that many hotels in Bangkok do not have a window and if they have it can not be opened. This hotel is a big plus for the smoking persons.
Bathroom
The bathrooms could have been nicer, especially the water pressure and maybe some bath slippers or better water drainage. Being a newly open hotel and a family run one they did not thought about it.
Water from the shower is getting all over the bathroom, since there’s no curtain nor border to the shower. So if you need to go to the bathroom afterwards – get ready to wet your feet.
The sink a bit too small and there is no space to put too many things around it. Even the shampoo and soup were in a different spot on the other side of the bathroom.
Room facilities:
- • Balcony
- • TV
- • Safety Deposit Box
- • Air conditioning
- • Heating
- • Wardrobe/Closet
- • Shower
- • Hairdryer
There’s a huge price list for everything! Like if you leave a make-up stain in the bedsheets/pillowcase – you have to pay, same applies for each type of towels. It felt like they expect us to do the laundry ourselves in order not to get charged.
The Staff
Even if the interaction with the staff was minimal I had a problem at the end and they were more then helpful to give me a hand. I have forgot some papers in the room and I had to return to the hotel. Our room was already booked by other person but there were not there. We entered the room to check for the missing papers but no sign of it. I even looked in the drawer but after I few hours I remembered I put in on the closet not in the closet! The staff even when to look in the garbage but no sign of it!
The only negative thing was that we could not pay with card, cash only
