This was a great hotel for a stay during the Christmas market. Centrally located, so really easy to walk everywhere. The room was large, bright and quiet. The reception staff were very helpful too.
When the weather turned very wet in the afternoon after we’d checked out, reception staff were quite happy for us to come back and sit in the reception area to use the WiFi to check our onward travel. Would happily return to use as a base for visiting parts of Northern France.
Great location for christmas market, Rooms clean and spacious. Staff friendly. Only a 3 minute walk to centre. Parking nearby in underground car park very reasonable only 12 euros for 2 days.
Christmas Market and town really nice lots of shops which stayed opened late. Light show on cathedral good but get there early if you want to stand at front.
Our room was spacious with very comfortable beds and no noise. There was a separate toilet and bathroom, which was a bit small, but functional. Plenty of storage space. 2 roomy lifts. A small, but decent bar attached to the restaurant and a excellent choice at breakfast-boiled and scrambled eggs and all the usual variety of foods on offer.
The hotel is well situated for the cathedral; Christmas market; St.Leu district and the town itself.
Amiens is a beautiful city with lots of “must-see” attractions – we had previously been to the Maison de Jules Verne (excellent) as well as the Hortillonnages (excellent, but closed over the winter months) so this time our intention was to visit various WW1 sites in the Somme region (Mussée Somme 1916, Albert & Historial de la Grande Guerre, Peronne) – journey times 45/60 mins respectively – both excellent venues.
Be aware that in view of the strange priorities given to side roads in towns/cities that traffic exiting the car park via rue des Rinchevaux has priority over the traffic driving down rue Flatters. Bit bizarre, but worth being aware of.
The highlight of our stay at Amiens was the son-et-lumière display at the Cathédrale Notre-Dame d’Amiens, which ran from 23rd Nov- 31st December each evening at 7pm (lasted about 40 mins). The Christmas market was also certainly well worth seeing.

The hotel was very comfortable and warm on a very cold December weekend. Room was quirky and very typical of an old historic hotel. The location could not have been better, so close to the cathedral.
Breakfast was buffet style with a generous selection on offer.
We loved Amiens itself. The cathedral is beautiful and free to enter. The Xmas market is extensive. The Son et Lumiere really impressive.
There are lots of good restaurants close by. The walks along the Somme and the canal area are delightful. We recommend a visit to the Jules Verne house which is an easy walk from the hotel.
Next to the Christmas Market or at least right next to the Amiens Cathedral – this is a comfortable, well located friendly place from which to explore Amiens, which has a great deal more to commend it than being close to Villers-Bretonneux, which is why we went in the first place.
It is close, but it’s also an interesting university town, with some fascinating attractions and, of course, a wonderful cathedral. La Residence is close to restaurants, the tourist information centre, the canalside ambience, etc.

Very conveniently located near the Christmas markets. The owner was so kind to give us one of his personal parking spaces at the back. And warmly greeted us each morning with a nice spread of breakfast.
Situated close to the city centre and a short walk from some excellent restaurants and pubs, it’s ideally located for a city visit.
The welcome from the owner, who speaks no English, was fantastic and through my limited understanding of French we were offered the choice of 2 rooms. We chose room 11 which is very basically decorated and frankly quite dated although this adds to the ambience and atmosphere of the place.
The room was clean (obsessives may disagree but it was more than acceptable for us) and the bedding smelt clean – the en suite was spotless with a powerful, hot shower.
The bed is very comfortable, the best night’s sleep during our weeks stay in France, and the location is quiet at night with shutters and a fan to keep the room cool.
The breakfast is a typical continental with plenty of bread, croissants, juice, tea and coffee. No meats but that’s no great loss as the quantity more than makes up for the slightly limited choice. More than good enough given the price.
And finally, the host. He genuinely couldn’t have done more for us. Attentive, helpful and instructive. A perfect 2 star hotel for a cheap weekend break.
