From there we pop down to the Christmas market for a wee wander around, seeing the lights in Glasgow when your all wrapped up with a liqueur hot chocolate…one of my favourite things to do this time of year.

The hotel is in a great location for the train station and is truly Christmassy with great decorations and lovely touches of minced pies and mulled wine in reception – free.

The rooms are large and well equipped – I would say they are decorated tastefully, making them modern within a very old iconic building.

Towels however are plentiful, clean and good quality. Tea and coffee making facilities good although I would always welcome a couple of biscuits!

In the city centre beside George Square and 200 m from Queen Street Station, The Z Hotel Glasgow features compact and luxury accommodation in a contemporary design.

All rooms include hand crafted beds, 40-inch Samsung HD TV with free Sky Sports and Movie channels, free WiFi and an en suite shower room with complimentary toiletries. Each room also has under-bed storage for an overnight bag, and wall-mounted hanging space for clothing. The Z Hotel Glasgow also offers wheelchair accessible rooms.

Excellent excellent location. Stayed here for 4 nights and it was right next to the Christmas market set up in the centre of the city. Has a lot of shopping and restaurants nearby with very easy access to the subway.

The room I was in was small but well equipped and housekeeping service was great. Great cafe downstairs as well where I had breakfast one day and it was excellent.

The size of the room did not impact on the amazingly comfortable bed, the large TV, kettle and coffee station, and the infamous glass box bathroom. Yes, the frosting on the glass was still a little revealing but it is exactly as shown on the website pictures so can’t complain there. More importantly, the bathroom was very modern and impeccably clean.

The location of the hotel was ideal and perfect for us to explore the centre of Glasgow in the short amount of time we had…there were christmas markets happening at the time in St George’s Square which were awesome and right at our doorstep. I almost didn’t want to get out and explore though because the bed was too comfortable to get out of!

The complementary wine and cheese didn’t go astray and the breakfast was excellent; huge buffet of cooked continentals as well as fresh pastries, fruit, cereals and coffee. Very good value for money.

We were visiting Glasgow for the first time and we stayed in the Z hotel which is really close to the George square and the Christmas market.

Nice touch for the hotel they provide a free glass of wine and some cheese when we arrived.

The room was really clean and so was the communal area. The hotel is quite modern. The hotel has sky in the rooms which is a nice touch.

The bathroom is just a glass screen (frosted) in the room which isn’t that great as you can see through them. Other than that a great experience

Staff were really helpful and welcoming. Would recommend this hotel.

3. Hotel Carlton George Hotel 4* – Hotels Close to Glasgow Christmas Market

Located next to Glasgow Queen Street Rail Station and just 50 m from Buchanan Street’s shops, this hotel has an airport bus stop directly outside. With a rooftop restaurant and wonderful views across Glasgow’s skyline, Carlton George Hotel offers luxury rooms with complimentary minibars.

The Carlton George hotel offers rooms with free decanters of vodka, gin and whisky. Each room also comes with a complimentary mini-bar containing soft and alcoholic drinks.

The Executive and Club rooms have access to the hotel’s Executive Lounge. This area features an open fire with complimentary snacks and drinks.

This upscale hotel in the city centre is a 4-minute walk from both George Street station and the Gallery of Modern Art.

Plush, modern rooms feature en suite bathrooms and flat-screen TVs, plus tea and coffeemaking facilities. Minibars and decanters of whisky, gin and vodka are complimentary, as is Wi-Fi. Near to the Christmas market and in the Center of the city.

We always stay in a balcony room and this year’s balcony was angled towards George Square so we could see all the lights and the Christmas market.
The hotel location is fantastic, right in the middle of the city.
The rooms are spacious and very clean with Arran Aromatics toiletries in the bathroom.
We visited the executive lounge in the early afternoon and had sandwiches, scones and tea.

After our first trip round the St Enoch’s markets we returned and by that time they were serving alcohol.

Everything in the executive lounge is free and the service is very friendly.

Location: Fantastic location! The bus and train terminals are around the block from the hotel. There is a taxi queue directly across the street from the hotel.

The Buchanan Street “Style Mile” an area of shops, restaurants, pubs, Christmas Market is practically right outside the front door of the hotel. Could not have asked for a better location!

The room: Good size, very clean, a little dark. I had a first floor room that faced out onto a courtyard. Good sized work desk, good closet space, comfortable bed.

Since I made my reservation directly with the hotel, I had access to complimentary mini-bar drinks, which included decanted spirits. I had never been offered this type of service before, I was impressed.

Bathroom: Very clean, well lit, easy to use shower, towel warming rack (Nice touch).

Overall, I loved my brief stay (It was only for one night) and was extremely impressed! I highly recommend this hotel.
