The 4 star Superior Hotel LUGANODANTE – We like you is situated in the quiet Piazza Cioccaro, in the historical heart and financial district of Lugano. It offers free WiFi and a Ticino Ticket containing discounts, free admission and free use of local buses and trains.

The hotel has been fully renewed in summer 2020.

The rooms at the LUGANODANTE – We like you are air-conditioned and soundproofed. They include a Full HD TV up to 43″, a kettle with a selection of teas and coffees, as well as complimentary water from the minibar and some soft drinks.

A 6-minute walk from a metro station, this chic hotel is a 10-minute walk from Parco Civico and 4.9 km from Lugano Airport.

Bright rooms offer Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and sitting areas, plus minibars, and tea and coffeemakers. Suites add living rooms.

Amenities include a cocktail bar serving snacks, and a colorful, sophisticated restaurant. A breakfast buffet is available.

The staff was extremely nice and professional. Rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. In the morning we had a delicious breakfast and lot to choose from. It is ideally situated in the pedestrian part of the town right next to the funicular that takes you up to the train station. Ideal for Christmas shopping, Christmas Markets and shopping in general and of course sightseeing the beautiful town of Lugano. Pleasant stay and would recommend for business as well as family trips.

The hotel is situated in a pedestrian zone within walking distance to the lake. The room was a bit on the small size (okay, it was quite small). We had a triple room booked. With the sofa bed opened there was hardly any room to move around.

However, the room/bathroom was clean, the beds were very comfortable and couldn’t fault anything else. This is not the cheapest hotel in Lugano but if you can afford it, you won’t be disappointed. It has a cool (automatic) car park too, at a hefty price tag of 33 CHF/night.

The breakfast was excellent and well laid out. The waiters were attentive without being too intrusive. Pre-dinner drinks at the bar came with all you can have hors d’oeuvres. Be aware though the drinks aren’t cheap either.

Special thanks to Salvator, Pietro and Tomas at the reception (I think it was his name – he recommended us a place to have dinner). If we come back to Lugano (and can afford the hefty price tag), we will definitely stay in this hotel.

2. Hotel Walter Au Lac 3* – Hotels Near Lugano Christmas Market

Situated on the lake promenade near the traffic-free centre of Lugano, Hotel Walter Au Lac offers you rooms with superb lake views. WiFi is free of charge.

All air-conditioned rooms are renovated. Coffee and tea facilities are offered for free.

Unwind on the rooftop-terrace featuring a whirlpool and start the day at the rich and complimentary cold breakfast buffet.

The funicular, the car parks, the pier, the post office, shops, the theatre and cinemas are easily reachable on foot from the Hotel Walter Au Lac.

Overlooking Lake Lugano, this understated hotel is 5 km from Monte San Salvatore, and a 7-minute walk from the Cathedral of Saint Lawrence and art exhibits at the LAC museum.

3. Hotel Federale 3* – Hotels Near Lugano Christmas Market

This family-owned hotel is centrally located just a short walk from Lugano town centre and its breathtaking lakeshore, and the famous Piazza Riforma with its many sidewalk cafés.

Located in a quiet spot halfway up a hill, the hotel is just a short 3-minute walk from the train station, and provides quiet rooms in a green corner of the city. Many rooms have a balcony view of Monte Bré, or overlook the town. The hotel is the perfect choice for both leisure and business travellers. Its restaurant offers elegant simplicity, and the bar is ideal for a relaxing evening drink.

This informal hotel is a 3-minute walk from Lugano train station and a 2-minute walk from the Cathedral of Saint Lawrence.

Down-to-earth rooms offer free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, minifridges, and tea and coffee making facilities. Some have balconies and/or sitting areas. Studios add kitchenettes and dining areas.

The location of the hotel is in the center of Lugano and it had a wonderful view on for the lake and the city. What is for exceptional about this hotel is a level of the service which is ‏unseen in Switzerland : above excellent!

The Federale is a classic 3* old style Swiss hotel offering quality and professional service as well as being in the perfect location for visiting Lugano – a short walk down from the railway station/and to the centre of Lugano.

This family run hotel offers excellent price/quality value – it is spotlessly clean, staff are friendly, and breakfast/dinner is served either in the garden or dining room. Standard double rooms are relatively small and a bit old fashioned but perfectly adequate and some with nice balcony/terraces.

Overall a really nice place to stay in Lugano and recommended.
