Hotel Europa Splendid is located very close to the city center, just at the beginning of the pedestrian area in Merano. They have a sort-time parking space just in front of the hotel for loading/unloading luggage, and they have convention at reduced prices with the parking at the Thermal Station, and it’s just a few minutes walk from the parking to the hotel.

My room was very good – not very big, but with excellent furniture, and a private balcony with a good view on the city and the Alps. The room was enough insulated from outside noise, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was very good, too.

Breakfast was exceptionally good, with several choices available. Staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all, a very good experience.

. Our room faced out over an interior courtyard and some nearby houses with a view toward the mountains in the distance, lovely! There was a flat screen TV on the writing desk, a spacious wardrobe with safe and also mini bar. No tea or coffee-making facilities, but this is only usual in England and not in continental Europe. The bathroom was located behind a striped wall made of thick glass.

The Europa Splendid has a “Jugendstil”/Art Nouveau style throughout, and this was very apparent in the lovely breakfast/dining room when we came in there next morning for our breakfast. Sunlight flooded in through the beautifully coloured and decorated windows and I enjoyed being in that space.

Breakfast was a generous buffet with local style bread and rolls, spreads, cold cuts of cheese and ham, cereals and yoghurts, fruits, boiled eggs, also several warm dishes. Tea or coffee made to order, the cappuccino was delicious.

2. Bed and Breakfast Liszt 3* – Hotels Near Merano Christmas Market

The room we had was nice. It was clean and very bright with upscale bedding.

The bathroom was equally nice. Even though we had to walk a couple of blocks to the cafe to get our breakfast, it was well worth it. The food was excellent and we enjoyed it so much that we went back there for lunch.

Our room faced the street, which is the main street of the town, with all of the shops, numerous restaurants, etc. It is paved with stones, and is a narrow street and every noise reverberated.

If street noise doesn’t bother you, I’d highly recommend this place. But otherwise, find another spot to stay.

3. Garnì Domus Mea 2* – Hotels Near Merano Christmas Market

The room was spacious, clean, warm and very quiet overnight.

At breakfast there were sweet and savoury options, homemade cakes and any type of juices and hot drinks (espresso, cappuccino, etc.).

We really enjoyed our stay and we look forward to coming back soon.
