1. Burghotel 3* – Hotels Near Rothenburg Christmas Market

Set in a 12th-Century building, this hotel offers spa facilities and elegant rooms overlooking gardens and the beautiful Tauber Valley. It stands on the edge of Rothenburg’s Medieval town centre.

All of the spacious rooms at the 3-star-superior Burghotel have a seating area, minibar and cable TV. The apartment has 2 bedrooms and is located nearby. Free Wi-Fi is available in the entire hotel.

A rich breakfast buffet is provided each morning in the breakfast room. It offers views of the valley. Guests are invited to dine at the hotel’s restaurant which includes a rose garden and terrace, across the way.

This picturesque spa hotel, built into the old city walls of the medieval town, lies 4 minutes’ walk from the Franciscan Friary and 5 minutes’ walk from Downtown.

The warm rooms and suites come with Wi-Fi, minibars and cable TV. Some add valley views and/or 4-poster beds. Apartments and villas add kitchens and extra bedrooms; some have balconies. There’s no air conditioning.

The hotel provides breakfast in a dining room with views of the valley. Additional amenities include a fitness room, and a spa with a sauna, plus parking and a business center. Pets are welcome.

I would highly recommend anyone going to Rothenburg to stay a couple nights in town, and preferably at the Burg-Hotel ;). We were a large family traveling and we stayed in a double room as well as the private suite.

A most beautiful hotel in an amazing town.

The hotel is beautifully furnished with a comfortable large clean room and situated on the wall of the Town with amazing views over the Tauber valley from the breakfast room and terrace. The breakfast menu is more than adequate and the staff were absolutely lovely!

The hotel is only a very short walk to the town centre, the Christmas markets and other attractions.

We stayed two nights just before Christmas to experience the old village. We decided to stay within the walls and had no trouble with access or parking in their barn (10 euro per night). The hotel is set against the wall, and has nice views of the landscape beyond the wall.

It’s quiet and away from the bustling area. Otto made us feel very welcome and at home! Breakfast was nice with a good range of food. We stayed in a double room, and it was very spacious with separate lounge area and a bathtub. Easy 5min walk to market square.

2. Hotel Tilman Riemenschneider 4* – Hotels Near Rothenburg ob der Tauber Christmas Markets

This traditional, 16th-century hotel offers Franconian food, a fitness area and country-style rooms. It stands in the centre of Rothenburg, a 2-minute walk from the St. Jakob church.

All rooms at Tilman Riemenschneider feature flat-screen TV and a bathroom with hairdryer. All guests receive a free bottle of mineral water on arrival.

Free Wi-Fi access is available in the public areas of the Tilman Riemenschneider.

The hotel’s restaurants feature traditional tiled stoves, valuable paintings and wooden carvings. A variety of local and international meals are served, together with regional wines.

Set in a half-timbered building dating from 1559, this laid-back hotel is a 3-minute walk from the whimsical German Christmas Museum and a 4-minute walk from the Medieval Crime Museum.

Featuring carpeted floors, the down-to-earth rooms offer cable TV. Some come with 4-poster beds.

A breakfast buffet is complimentary. Other amenities consist of a sauna, an exercise room and a modest restaurant, as well as a hot tub. Parking is available.

My room was a single on the 3rd floor (there’s an elevator) on the street side of the building and was SO charming! The wood furniture was painted blue (with floral detail) and included a small love seat and a table for work space. The bed was tucked in an alcove, making it feel extra cozy, and through the windows you could look across the tops of the Rothenburg buildings. The breakfast buffet included hot and cold options.

We visited in December as part of a Christmas markets tour and the location of this hotel could not have been better. It was within walking distance of the market and shopping, but just enough removed that it was quiet and restful. I hope to visit again one day.

Hotel is inside the wall with great access to the stairs for a wall walk around and near the Christmas Market.

The Tilman makes you feel like part of the family, would recommend everyone stay here.

This lovely family-run hotel is situated inside the walking precinct of the Old Town of Rothenburg. Our room was a good size, with a very comfortable bed and a modern bathroom. It was spotlessly clean. A car parking area is just a few minutes walk just around the corner from the hotel.

The continental breakfast offered cereals, fruit and a good selection of meats, cheeses, lovely bread, rolls and pastries.

The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the town square with its beautiful Christmas markets. The whole town of Rothenburg is exquisitely decorated for Christmas and the Hotel Tilman is no exception. Many wonderful shops and fabulous restaurants are within a few minutes walk.

A tour with the Night Watchman is fun, as is walking around the city walls, which are open all night (take a torch).

We loved our stay in Rothenburg and would thoroughly recommend the Hotel Tilman Riemenschneider.

This 3-star hotel is in a quiet side street in the historic town centre of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. It offers a friendly family-run atmosphere and traditional Franconian cuisine.

A 3-minute walk from the history Kriminalmuseum, this casual, vibrant hotel in a townhouse is 14 minutes from the 14th-century St. James’s Church and 10 minutes from Rothenburg ob der Tauber train station.

Streamlined rooms with simple decor offer Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. Family rooms add sofabeds. There’s no air conditioning, and rooms are stair-access only.

Breakfast is served in a rustic glass-enclosed dining room. There’s a refined restaurant with exposed-stone walls and timber beams, as well as a bar and a terrace.

Very short walk to the centre of Rothenburg and the Christmas market. Room comfortable and clean although there was a slight drain smell in the bathroom. Had evening meal at the hotel which was very good and a good included breakfast the following morning.

Our room was comfortable and very clean. The owners and staff were hospitable and friendly. We had two dinners and both were very good. Then venison dinner was outstanding. Breakfast was very good and they offered very good coffee.

The location was excellent for walking around the town and visiting the Christmas market. Value wise, I felt that the room rate was reasonable and the dinners a good value.
