Pre-Arrival Requirements according to TATNEWS.ORG
All eligible travellers travelling from the eligible countries must have the following documents for entering Thailand:
- A Thailand Pass, which can be applied via https://tp.consular.go.th/.
- A Medical Certificate with an RT-PCR lab result indicating that COVID-19 is not detected issued no more than 72 hours before travelling.
- Travellers under 6 years of age, travelling with parents with a negative RT-PCR test result within 72 hours before travelling, are not required to have a pre-arrival negative RT-PCR test result and can have a saliva test when entering the Kingdom.
- For arrivals by water, everyone on board the vessels must have a medical certificate with an RT-PCR lab result indicating that COVID-19 is not detected within the officially specified time frame. Anyone on board with a history of COVID-19 infection within a period between 14-90 days must have a medical certificate of recovery. *We will provide an update on this as soon as the official information becomes available.
- An insurance policy with coverage no less than US$50,000.
- Thais and foreign expatriates under Thailand’s national healthcare coverage are exempt from this requirement.
- A confirmed payment for at least a 7-day stay at an approved accommodation; such as, a SHA++ hotel, within either Krabi, Phang-Nga, Phuket, or Surat Thani (Ko Samui, Ko Pha-ngan, and Ko Tao). They must also have proof of a confirmed payment for 2 RT-PCR tests, which can be reserved via www.thailandpsas.com (2,100 Baht per 1 test, or totalling 4,200 Baht for 2 tests).
- A Certificate of COVID-19 Vaccination/Recovery
- Everyone 18 years of age and older must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 with an approved vaccine at least 14 days before travelling to Thailand.
- Travellers 12-17 years of age travelling to Thailand unaccompanied must get vaccinated with at least 1 dose of an approved vaccine. Those travelling with parents are exempt from this requirement.
- Travellers 6-11 years of age, travelling with parents, are exempt from this requirement.
- For arrivals by water, everyone on board must be fully vaccinated. This is except for travellers under 18 years of age, travelling with parents or guardians. *We will provide an update on this as soon as the official information becomes available.

Definitely below our expectation. Despite the fact that they have excellent facilities including multiple swimming pools, well equipped gym, spacious room. We did not enjoy our stay due to staffing issue. They were well under staffing, took at least 1 hour to get your meal (much worst at dinner), most of staff are new and were not well train.

Pros: The hotel has a stylish design, rooms are large & comfy beds. Facilities are great.
Cons: Breakfast is mediocre. We saw a worm in the food one morning. Service from most hotel staff is not very good, we stayed here a few nights and were disappointed everytime we needed the staff – including one night where our electricity in the room just went bust and it took 2 hours to move us to another room (in the middle of the night, totally ruining our sleep as we had to wake up early for Khao Sok trip the next day). The hotel didn’t offer any compensation, and after arguing on this they gave us a 50% discount on that night.
All in all, a mixed experience and I wouldn’t recommend staying here until there’s an overhaul in management.

Stayed here for a week. Very hospitable and smiling staff. The rooms/bungalows were clean, and facilities good. There was a small, but adequate pool. There was not enough sun parasols for all the sun beds, which was a shame, as it was too hot to lie directly in the sun. The breakfast was ok, eggs to your liking, toast and jam, yogurt and fruit. I would have liked some alternative to the white, sliced bread, though.
As has been mentioned in previous reviews, it’s a bit far from the beach and eating places, but we rented a scooter at a cheap price, so no problem for us. Lots of nice places to visit nearby if you’re mobile.
Many of the guests had been here before, so obviously a place people come back to. All in all, an enjoyable stay.

We stayed here March 2020, we did have to leave 4 days back to get back in to the UK before the borders were shut and Emirates stopped flying due to covid.
However what we found in Thailand at that time they were better prepared for it than the UK. Everywhere we went there were hand sanitisers, temperature being taken and staff wearing masks.
Now on to the hotel, we loved the room and the location to the elephant sanctuary and memories bar. So you may be wondering why 4 out of 5. It’s simple we booked HB and the food in the evenings at the restaurant wasn’t of great quality. So we stopped going and paid to eat at memories.
That means we would go back but not waste our money on anything other than B&B. Our room was a pool villa and we enjoyed spending our days in the pool and relaxing. The room was spacious with a separate living to relax in. The outdoor shower was so nice to use.

We have just returned from another visit to the Khaolak Bhandari, well technically the Khaolak Oriental as we stayed in this part of the complex this time. ‘Same same but different’
More modern rooms of a more Hotel style than the bungalows. Very nice room, nice balcony overlooking one of the two pools in this section.
The hotel is suffering through a lack of people visiting Phang Nga, some new staff as with all the hotels we visited recently but the biggest difference is their attitude. All credit to whoever is in charge of staff selection and training. Without exception the staff here are wonderful. Genuine and helpful, no crocodile smiles.
The breakfast was still a good buffet, plenty of choice and great coffee. The Asian choice was particularly good, a very tasty Panang curry one day, an equally good Massaman the next. Noodles, rice dished and stir-fry vegetables. all good.
As most of the nearby village is still closed, opening up more and more each day but still quiet, we ate at the hotel most evenings. Very good food, not too expensive for the quality of food. Asked for spicy and got spicy, the wife is Thai and I have learned ! Average spend with a few cocktail and/or beers was £25, very, very reasonable for two people.

A very special place. As soon as we arrived we felt that we were truly in paradise. We had a beautiful pool side villa with a lovely terrace with views onto the garden which was perfectly maintained. It was a stunning beach location.

Stayed here on New Year’s Day and the hotel appeared packed. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff is amazing.
A family member had a feet injury and asked for a bandage at the reception. Instead the receptionist supported by cleaning the wound and applying the bandage, excellent service!
This hotel is typical ‘resort style’ with tons of swimming pools and entertainment venues. Perhaps not the best place for travelers seeking a peaceful & tranquil hotel as the hotel caters to a lot of families (& thus children). Regardless of the festive business, the staff managed to continue providing excellent service at the F&B outlets.

We stayed in a Jasmine Deluxe Room and it was beautiful – see photos. Lovely little beach bar where you can get drinks and snacks during the day and meals in the evening.
We ate in a few nights but also ventured into Khao Lak for food and drinks. Definitely worth a visit and as the resort opens up after covid the small businesses also need the support. All in all a wonderful, relaxing stay.

We have just returned from a Christmas break in Thailand and stayed for 9 nights at The Sands. We stayed in a room with a swim up pool and our friend had a room by the beach. Both were great- large and clean and well equipped. The staff had really gone out of their way to make the place look special for Christmas and New Year with an amazing area all lit up, Christmas trees etc.
The staff were all excellent- especially Kris at reception who helped us navigate through the Covid testing requirements and made it all so easy for us.
The hotel is situated near lots of restaurants and shops and they are extremely good value and the food is so tasty. The beach is gorgeous to walk along- not the white sand of other beaches, but still stunning and the sea was warm. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
