La Source Guest House Addis Ababa Review

Returning to Addis Ababa after almost 30 days of traveling, we decided to book another guesthouse in Addis Ababa. Norr Guesthouse was a good option but the lack of internet, the breakfast not being included and not being located so centrally made us to book another guesthouse in Addis Ababa. And we choose to stay at the La Source Guest House.

La Source Guest House Addis Ababa

Location:

Meskel Flower Road, Addis Ababa 1286, Ethiopia. Its not centrally located but it’s situated in a quiet area of Addis Ababa. I think these is what you should be looking in Addis as for an accommodation. Close to it there are plenty of good restaurants, other hotels and few banks as well. The guesthouse is located at 10 minutes drive from the airport; but the Addis Ababa is horrible so expect extra minutes added.

Facilities

Breakfast is  included but you have to wake up a bit early in order to catch some foods. Fresh eggs, omelette, juice, coffee, bread and jam its included. Unfortunately, milk is not available, but there is a supermarket very close by.

WI-fi connection was very good for Ethiopia; don’t expect to download a movie in 5 minutes. But Skype, email and other searches on the internet can be done without a hassle. To be honest, the guesthouse had the best internet connection in whole Ethiopia!

Even if the room had a TV, it was impossible to find who it worked so for us it was useless.

The restaurant downstairs is a good option to have lunch or dinner. The prices are OK, but as for the quality I do prefer the restaurants nearby. They do make a decent pizza!

Another good thing is the free airport transfer included in the room price. Usually a transfer from Addis Ababa airport to your accommodation can cost up to 250 birr.

Rooms & Prices

I will never understand why the prices for a double room and twin rooms are different; even if I worked for 5 years as a travel agent. We paid 25$ per night for the double room. For the twin room, 2 of my mates, paid 30$. There are 2 more room types, in terms of room size and the prices are even higher. For the double room was prepared to pay up to 40 $ and for the twin room bed up to 50$.

La Source Guest House

After sleeping in cheaper places in other location in Ethiopia, for me these room was the most luxurious I slept in my trip to Ethiopia. The room and large enough to fit all languages for 2 persons. The water was hot and the beds were comfortable.

I had a front-facing room, but it was not noisy at all. The guesthouse has no elevator, but they can help you to carry them.

Atmosphere & Stuff

The staff at this guest house could not have been more helpful. They helped us in finding good places to eat in Addis give us useful tips about the city. There is a big communal room where you can stay during the evening and read something or to watch the TV on a big screen. They were cool in finding me a channel were to watch a game between As Roma and Inter Milano!

Its not a hostel and don’t expect to interact too much with the other guests.

Bottom line, the place is value for money.

Recommendation: 8/10. You can book  online La Source Guest House Addis Ababa on booking.com
