Langano Resort & Lake Langano Resort

Location: Lake Langano, Ethiopia. Just only 4 hours drive from Addis Ababa, the Lagano Resort Hotel is the first one, located on the road between Addis Ababa and Arba Minch. Turn left and on a bad road after 2 km we will find the location. There are no shops around so the only place to buy food, water and other things can only be bought from the resort. And the price is quite high. The resort is populated with farangi but the Ethiopian middle and high class can be found there, mostly during the weekends.

Facilities &  Service

There is a state owned resort so expect the service to be very low; its not bad service, only very, very low. There is one restaurant in the resort and one nightclub. It’s not actually a nightclub, more as a big room with chairs and tables. The nice thing about it is the location, just over the lake. Music was loud all the time, but there were no people inside. We were planning to have two New Year’s Eve their but changed our mind and went to Arba Minch.

 Room and prices

Langano Resort Hotel Room

We have chosen I think the cheapest option from the all resorts, which are located near Lake Langano. The price for one double room ( king size bed) was $28 per night. The conditions were not exceptional, but I think the price was higher because we were tourists, was a weekend and New Year’s Eve was approaching. On the price, please note that the breakfast does not include. Regarding the breakfast was the worst eaten in all Ethiopia. The omelet was not done; we were expecting little chicken to come out! The juice was without any taste. Bad coffee as well. Price was around $5-6; bad and expensive in the same time.

The bathrooms are quite big, but a little bit dirty. Don’t expect to have hot water. Cold, sunny warmed water yes. But not many budgets, low price guest-house in Ethiopia have hot water so expect it while traveling in Ethiopia. Quite many bugs, spiders and other insects are to be found in the toilet.

The resort seems to be owned by the state and you can see that the resort, the restaurant and the surroundings are not quite excellent.lake langano resort hotel.

I agree regarding the toilets. For the price you are paying, they should have been more decent! The rooms are decent not excelent. For 1-2 nights it’s ok, but you can find better deals around.
