Longreach Motor Inn is located opposite the historic Longreach Railway Station. Longreach Racecourse and Longreach Airport are both less than 5 minutes’ drive away.

Great pool area for the kids plus it had grass so was a great spot for the dogs to roam without going out of sight or anywhere dangerous.

Very pleased with the comfort of our room which was number 14 downstairs.

A great queen size bed provided a good nights sleep in the spacious room which also had a single bed, refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities, ironing facilities, a flat screen TV and two easy chairs. The bathroom has had some upgrading, the toilet hasn’t but works well and everything is clean.

There are dispensers with the necessary liquids in the shower and above the sink.

Towels are very clean and in good condition as is the bedding and pillows. There was no noise disturbance from vehicles at the motel or from the highway, or from adjacent occupied rooms.

Breakfast each day and some evening meals were in the very popular Harry’s Restaurant upstairs in the main building and provided separately for the group.

No complaints about the food here or anywhere else on the tour including on the train.

For comfort, nearness to shopping, pubs and other eating places I can recommend the Longreach Motor Inn.

3. Saltbush Retreat 4* – Dog Longreach Pet Friendly Accommodation

Boasting an outdoor swimming pool, free BBQ facilities and a free airport shuttle, Saltbush Retreat is a 3 minutes’ drive from Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Qantas Founders Museum. The self contained accommodation offers free transfers from airport, train and bus stations on request.

Each air-conditioned room includes a well-equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, a microwave, a stove and an electric kettle. It also has a flat-screen TV, a DVD player, a seating area and ironing facilities. The private bathroom has a shower and a hairdryer.

The luxurious 4.5 star Homestead Stable and 4 star Pioneer Slab Hut rooms have private use of the bath terrace. All other rooms are 3.5 stars and have access to the shared swimming pool, BBQ and laundry facilities.

On the A2 highway, these rustic-style, wood-panelled cabins are a 6-minute walk from the vintage planes and interactive exhibits at the Qantas Founders Outback Museum and a 13-minute walk
