Medieval Inn Sibiu

Medieval Inn Sibiu | Guesthouse | Review | Photos

If you are looking for authentic accommodation is Sibiu then Medieval Inn has to be your first and only choice.  It has only 2 rooms (the Medieval Atic and the Medieval Base) so better book the room in advance if your are traveling to Sibiu. I needed only 1 night in Sibiu as I was  coming from Salzburg and then heading to Bucharest. I have seen Sibiu too many times and everytime I discover something new – this time was the time to discover the amazing place of Medieval Inn in Sibiu.

I was looking for an authentic place as accommodation not a basic hotels or grand hotel in Sibiu; since it was the Sibiu Theatre Festival Weekend I did not expect to find a hotel in Sibiu close to the Great Square. But luck was on my side since Medieval Inn was available!

Location @ Medieval Inn Sibiu

The guest house is 300 m from Great Square, 200 m from Bridge of Lies and 300 m from Little Square. Sibiu Airport is 5 km away and the taxi should not be more than 15 RON.

The place is centrally located, it has its own vibe, it is peaceful, full of positive emotions  mainly because of the landlord – Dorina, an amazing person and great character.

The home is from the 17th century and very traditionally Romanian. It is about a two minute walk from the historical square and all of the sites.

The apartment is very large and has a great climate. It’s in an antique house located just few meters from old town. We had the attic room – it’s not the one located close to the street and there was no noise coming from outside.

The bed was big but a bit too harsh for us. It’s an old, typical romanian bed not a bed made only for the hotels; the mattress should have been more softer anyway.

What makes the room different from other hotels I have stayed is  the unique style it has – all the decorations are typical Romanian ,especially from the Sibiu area.

The plug-ins are not located close to the bed so you have to charge your phone or laptop a few meters away.

Room comes with a big sofa as well – not sure if only for decoration purpose or you can sleep as well.

There is a small TV in  the room – did not turn in on because we arrived late and left early in the morning. But for this kind of room for a hotel, a TV can be skipped since it might lose the room charm.

The Living Room

We stayed in the attic so we had access to the living room; it was nice decorated as well, mainly with private objects of the owner and awards from his kids.

Final Thoughts for Medieval Inn Sibiu

I wished I could have stayed more not only one night at Medieval Inn. The places is great to explore by foot the great city of Sibiu. And the owner Dorina, is a great person to whom I could have talked for hours since our background was similar – she was doing tours to Myanmar ages ago (while the Junta  was still in power) and here stories were amazing; even her house was decorated with dolls from Bagan!
