By Crescent Rating, Egypt is rated 49th among most Muslim-friendly countries.
How many mosques are there in Gibraltar?
There are 2  mosques in Gibraltar. The Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim Mosque, also known as the King Fahd bin Abdulaziz al-Saud Mosque or the Mosque of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, is a mosque located at Europa Point in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar, a peninsula connected to southern Spain. The mosque faces south towards the Strait of Gibraltar and Morocco several kilometres away.

The Muslim friendly hotel means a hotel that has Islamic characteristics that can provide basic facilities that are more friendly to Muslim customers such as a Qibla direction indicator, the availability of prayer tools, the presence of halal food / list of nearby restaurants that provide halal food.

Like other tourists, Muslim travelers coming from Islamic countries have particular requirements when they choose the destination for their vacation. Among these requirements, Muslims are concerned about the availability of halal compliant foods (no pork or alcohol in food) and a clean place to pray.

Many international hotels in Gibraltar do serve halal food that is slaughtered in accordance with the teachings of Islamic Sharia and is free of any substances forbidden by Islam such as pork and alcohol.

Other Islamic countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Oman and Brunei continue to be popular with Muslim tourists. Among non-OIC countries, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, Japan and Taiwan remain the top five respectively, but show improved scores on the index.

Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory and headland, on Spain’s south coast. It’s dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar, a 426m-high limestone ridge. First settled by the Moors in the Middle Ages and later ruled by Spain, the outpost was ceded to the British in 1713. Layers of fortifications include the remains of a 14th-century Moorish Castle and the 18th century Great Siege Tunnels, which were expanded in WWII

1. Holiday Inn Express Gibraltar 4* – Muslim Friendly Hotels Gibraltar

Holiday Inn Express Gibraltar

On a bustling street adjacent to the Rock of Gibraltar, this polished airport hotel is 2 km from the Moorish Castle. It’s 1 km from Gibraltar International Airport.

Modern rooms with bold colours offer free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and en suite bathrooms. All have tea and coffeemaking facilities, plus air-conditioning and black-out curtains. Some feature seating areas and/or views of the Rock of Gibraltar.

A hot breakfast buffet and parking are complimentary. There’s also an Italian restaurant and a 24/7 bar with a terrace. A common lounge features colourful furniture and iPad stations.

The location is excellent, turn right out of the hotel and you’re headed into town, turn left and you’re headed towards the beaches. Buses stop practically outside (get an all day ticket on the bus for £2.50). It’s a short walk to Ocean Village and an easy walk to Casemates.
There are 2 supermarkets very close to the hotel for anything you’ve forgotten.

There are 2 lifts in the hotel and the TV in the entrance shows the departure times of flights from the airport.

Our room was super cool, handy in the very hot conditions. The windows open and the aircon is easy to work.
We were on the 5th floor overlooking the airport runway and the cemetery. The soundproofing is so good you don’t hear the planes unless you open the window. It is terrific having such a good view of them taking off and landing.

The cemetery is beautiful, it is lovely to see how much people are loved, honoured and remembered. We had a walk there one day to see the Commonwealth War Graves ( there is also a Commonwealth War Grave commemoration close to the hotel).

The rooms are well equipped with comfortable cool beds. Good lighting.
We had enough storage space for a week.
The TV had very many channels, and all the UK ones.

The bathroom was spacious and the power shower very welcome after a day out.
The rooms were cleaned every day.
We enjoyed the buffet breakfast, the food was fresh and plentiful and there were always enough tables even when you went down a little later.

There was a good choice of hot and cold, sweet and savoury, and plenty of sauces and condiments.

The bar and lounge area is comfortable, we had a good bottle of white wine one night when we got back to the hotel (we couldn’t find any shops or supermarkets selling chilled white wine!) and the price was reasonable for the quality.

There is even an outdoor terrace which is pleasant in the evenings.
I’ve already started checking the prices for a return visit, I had such a lovely time.

Nice central location, staff were really good and always helpful. We had a top floor balcony room that was helpful given the busy poolside.
The pool was always welcome on the hot days and was never too crowded.

We took advantage of room service many times and would certainly stay again if in town.

I think top marks to the staff in difficult times.

f you’re planning on exploring, this is the hotel for you. Slap bang in the middle of town with easy access to everything.

Hotel is beautiful, my room was fabulous. I didn’t use the main sunbathing area as I had a large enough balcony for two sunbeds – this came at a cost but was absolutely worth it.

A lovely, clean hotel with lovely modern rooms with massive queen size beds and wonderful shower room.

The staff are friendly and there was housekeeping every day with good cleaning and replenishing tea and coffee and toilet roll.
There is a good choice of drinks at the Bar and the midday sandwiches are excellent to. The hotel is central to lots of good restaurants and shops.

Ideal for business or leisure, the hotel offers complimentary wifi and smartly designed work or rest areas. The soul of the Rock Hotel lies in its charming decor and friendly and accommodating staff.

Bedrooms are elegant and refined and offer the ultimate in comfort. The spacious windows and balconies let the Mediterranean sunlight in and provide breathtaking views of the Bay and Straits of Gibraltar.

This is a beautiful hotel situated in the middle of The Rock close to the Cable Car and the old city center. Marvelous views from the bar/restaurant and from hotel room. Our room was sea facing with a very large balcony. The room included a large foyer that separated the bedroom from the bathroom with doors to each room and had a nice big mirror. Good spot for extra/heavy luggage. Bathroom was clean, lots of light, bathtub, good water pressure, nice soaps, and cherry wood coloured vanity.

The bedroom was also bright, comfortable bed, large closet, french doors to balcony, wonderful air conditioning, mini fridge (only water inside), and good quality tea and coffee.
Staff are kind and helpful. Food is delicious. I expected a bit more for the beer selection, but they have some standard good ones.

Reception and lobby are magnificent and feature images of all the famous folk who have graced this iconic hotel with their presence. I love the small help-yourself orange juice, red wine, or mineral water station.
