Dog Friendly Tours in Barbados

Barbados is an eastern Caribbean island and an independent British Commonwealth nation. Bridgetown, the capital, is a cruise-ship port with colonial buildings and Nidhe Israel, a synagogue founded in 1654. Around the island are beaches, botanical gardens, the Harrison’s Cave formation, and 17th-century plantation houses like St. Nicholas Abbey. Local traditions include afternoon tea and cricket, the national sport.

1. Accra Beach Hotel 4* – Pet Friendly Hotels Barbados

Accra Beach Hotel

Set on Rockley Beach, Accra Beach Hotel offers an outdoor pool, spa, game room, kids club and gym. The air-conditioned rooms feature free Wi-Fi and a balcony with views of the island, pool or sea.

Each spacious room at the Accra Beach Hotel has a ceiling fan, coffee maker, kettle and cable TV. Bathrooms include a shower.

International cuisine is served at the on-site restaurants, and BBQ facilities are available. The Accra Beach also offers karaoke nights, live evening entertainment and cocktail parties. The property is home to the only Polynesian restaurant on the island, The Wytukai Restaurant.

Surrounded by tropical gardens, this low-key hotel on Rockley Beach along the Caribbean Sea is 4 km from Carlisle Bay and 13 km from Grantley Adams International Airport.

Featuring colorful wall murals, the eclectic rooms come with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, minifridges and coffeemakers. Upgraded rooms add balconies with sea, pool or island views. Suites offers whirlpool tubs, sofabeds and/or bar areas. Room service is available.

Parking is included. Amenities consist of 3 restaurants and 2 bars, including a swim-up option, along with 2 outdoor pools, a spa, a fitness center and a kid’s club. Breakfast is offered for a surcharge.

The property is in a very convenient location. Lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance. The rooms are clean and staff is very helpful and friendly. The swim up bar is a great feature. Great rum punch too!
The hotel was fantastic, located on the gorgeous Accra beach with free sunbeds for hotel guests. We enjoyed breakfast, a wide range of food buffet style including cakes and croissants , and lovely fresh fruit juices every day.
Lunch was either ordered outside With a choice of burgers, hot dogs , chicken etc with a side of fries, wedges, macaroni pie (which we loved) or you could go into the restaurant to order from a lunch menu. Evening meals in the Accra Deck were more a la carte style.
The best part of the hotel is the location. It is right on the beach. Though technically the beach is not private, it feels like that since the beach front is only occupied by hotel guests and the hotel puts out complimentary beach chairs, beach umbrellas and provides beach towels.

The beach and the pool closes at 7PM.

On the street side, just across the street there is a strip mall with a coffee shop, several restaurants, convenience store and gift shops.

Right next to the hotel is a 24/7 taxi stand and remember rates are negotiable.

The lobby has been updated and so have the rooms. Wifi can be spotty at times and the water pressure in the showers can also vary.

They have only only restaurant – which serves breakfast and dinner. Breakfast you have choice of a la carte or buffet. For lunch – one can order at the pool bar or they have a cart selling hot dogs and fried fish or fried chicken sandwiches.

2. Hilton Barbados Resort 5* – Pet Friendly Resorts Barbados

Hilton Barbados Resort

Located next to the Caribbean Sea and featuring 2 beaches, this five-star hotel in Needhams Point offers 3 tennis courts, on-site dining and infinity pool complex. Every room offers an ocean view balcony.

Hilton Barbados guests can enjoy the oversized tropical outdoor pool, hot tub and sauna. They can also work out in the fitness center or have a massage at the spa. The property features a 17th century fort that is part of the UNESCO heritage of Barbados. The resort offers meeting and convention facilities.

Cable TV with HBO, a minibar and coffee maker are provided in the yellow, contemporary rooms. There are floor-to-ceiling windows along with a desk and armchair. Room service is available 24 hours a day.

The hotel has some very fun facilities. This hotel has a very nice outdoor pool and beach area. There are three pools and a one hot tub. There is a nice pool with palm trees all around and two mini waterfalls in it. It has a bridge going over it leading to a nice sized hot tub.

There is a small pool for kids also. (Very very small). If you go up a level you will find a very nice infinity pool.

All of the pools have beach chairs around. The beach is very nice. It has lots of chairs and umbrellas. The water was very wavy while we were there so we couldn’t swim far out.

Prices at the resort are typical at any resort and overall food prices are high everywhere on the island. Rooms have a mini bar fridge stocked with over priced items. If you want a real mini fridge to put drinks/food in to try and save a buck, it’s $25 US per day. My solution is to buy and ice chest at like walmart (around $16 for a mid-sized one) before I go, check it on as luggage, and at the end of my trip, just leave it behind.

Also the LG 37″ LED TV’s in the rooms are in “hotel mode” that doesn’t allow you to adjust anything on the TVs (one of my hotel pet peeves) so here is the code to put the TVs back into user friendly mode.

With the TV on, hold down the menu button until the channel display pops up, then quickly press 1105 and the enter/ok button. The menu screen now pops up and you have full control for your viewing enjoyment.

Any room in the Lighthouse wing will give you great views of the beach and ocean, the higher up the better too. Floors 6-8 are the executive level rooms which give you added benefits as mentioned in other reviews.

As always, service is on island time, so just don’t be in a rush.

3. Southern Palms Beach Club 3* – Pet Friendly Hotels Barbados

This hotel is located on the beautiful Dover Beach, on Barbados’ south coast. It offers 2 outdoor pools, 2 tennis courts and air-conditioned rooms with a private balcony or patio.

The rooms at Southern Palms Beach Club feature tiled floors and Caribbean-style décor. Each one has a flat-screen TV, minibar and a private bathroom with a hairdryer. Some rooms have Wi-Fi access.

The Southern Palms’ beachside restaurants offer Caribbean and international food. There is regular live music from a local steel band.

Together location and resort are really spot on due the typical Caribbean sand beach (clean, very safe and looked after, with palm trees and never unbearably hot) just in front of all you need for a comfortable holiday (rooms, bar, restaurant, showers, swimming pools). What I really loved was the friendly environment of staff, guests and the free events arranged for guests (coffee at 4pm or rum drinks pre-dinner).

Also the wild life was a plus (turtles in the closest sea, monkeys in the vegetation/trees in the surrounding), and very friendly domestic pets, like cats and chicken with chicks freely around the resort) were a great attraction for our toddler.

Our requests on room and requirements for our toddler were perfectly satisfied, so we got a baby cot and easy access to everything with and without baggie.

I also recommend a visit to Graeme Hall Nature Reserve. It is very relaxing to feed the fish there and watch the birds.
