1. Thatsaphone Hotel 3* – Pet Friendly Hotels Luang Prabang Laos

Thatsaphone Hotel

Located in Luang Prabang, Thatsaphone Hotel features comfortable rooms with air conditioning. At this hotel guests will find a 24-hour front desk and a garden. The property offers free WI-Fi access in all areas.

Thatsaphone Hotel is less than a 5-minute walk from National Museum and Mount Phousy. Luang Prabang International Airport is a 15-minute ride away.

Each room is equipped with a safety deposit box, a flat-screen cable TV and a fridge. An en suite bathroom comes with free toiletries and a hairdryer.

Very convenient location right at the center of all tourist sites. Clean rooms and accommodating hosts. The manager gives extra effort to answer all requests and goes an extra mile to assist guests.

Both rooms are of good size with a king size bed. There is a desk and chair, a low table to host the luggage and a large cupboard. The bed is pretty comfortable and firm but does not isolate from your significant other’s movements well. The toilet is large and typical asian style with the shower area sharing the floor of the toilet and sink area. This means that the whole floor gets wet after a shower. No big deal if you are used to it but it can be annoying to some. Room 5 has a nicer layout with a bedside table but room 7 is facing the back so it is slightly quieter.

Coming to this, the hotel (or guesthouse depending how you would like to call this place) is set in an old house with wood flooring covered by vinyl in the lobby, carpet in the room and tiles in the bathroom.

This means that there is not much privacy and you can hear people coming and going.

Around 5 am there are some drum playing at the temples followed by the neighbour’s rooster call, a very healthy animal that can’t help but sing.

Otherwise the place is quiet most of the time being away from the main street. It is not worse than living in the countryside.

The place is very well maintained and clean. One may complain of some mould on the curtain shower but that’s about it.

The management and staff is very efficient and responsive. Any issue is dealt with very quickly.

The best part of the hotel is its location at the center of everything. You can walk to most of the places of interest, restaurants and bars in minutes.

Overall it is a great place to stay in order to discover Luang Prabang. It gives you a real feel of being part of it and live the experience.

We are so amazed by the hospitality from the whole family and the staff, especially Pinky.
The simple rich food, the clean quiet room and the beautiful garden, AND, whenever we have questions, Pinky is always there for us.
She even escorted us to find the local Lao dishes trying to make sure that we won’t miss the place. Her warm smiles and her mom’s nice chatting over the breakfast impress us a lot.

The hotel is wonderful with a peaceful garden. It’s a little bit outside the main town area, just far enough to feel a bit outside the most touristy area, but still just 10 minutes away with a bicycle which the hotel provides. I really recommend staying here.

The staff, and especially Pinky and his mother, were excellent hosts, provided good advice and made me feel very welcome.

3. Rosewood Luang Prabang 5* – Pet Friendly Hotels Luang Prabang

Rosewood Luang Prabang

Located on the outskirts of Luang Prabang old town and surrounded by mountains and jungles, Rosewood Luang Prabang features individually designed air-conditioned accommodations accompanied by views of waterfall, river and hillside.

Each room is decorated in French-Indochina style of traditional Luang Prabang and inspired by the local hill tribe. All rooms come with a private terrace and free WiFi, while some villas have a private pool.

At Rosewood Luang Prabang, The Great House serves French and local cuisines with vegan and gluten-free options available on request, while afternoon cocktails can be enjoyed at The Elephant Bridge Bar overlooking the river. Guests can relax at the oval-shaped pool with daybeds and cabanas.

Surrounded by jungle, this serene resort with a river running through it is 6 km from Wat Xieng Thong, an ornate Buddhist temple complex, and 10 km from Luang Prabang International Airport.

Elegant, French Colonial–style permanent tents and rooms come with Wi-Fi access and minibars, plus Nespresso machines and patios; rooms are riverside. Suites and villas add living areas. Upgraded villas have outdoor tubs and/or private pools.

Breakfast and airport transfers are free. There’s also an upscale farm-to-table restaurant, and a bar in a covered wooden bridge over the river. Other amenities include a spa, and a natural pool with a waterfall.

Hidden in the lush green jungle that surrounds the historic royal settlement of Luang Prabang, a river—emanating from a flowing waterfall—runs through the heart of this exotic retreat. Taking its cue from the French-Lao architecture for which the town is known, the interiors reflect the influences of ancient temples, while luxurious tented villas celebrate the explorer spirit.

The hotel is outside of the main town, which we actually liked because the surroundings were so beautiful/serene. The hotel offered a car into the town as well as pickup (they give you a local phone to use) whenever needed and it only takes about 10 minutes so not inconvenient at all.

The staff were incredible, so thoughtful and extremely helpful with any questions we had about where to go and what to do. The service is definitely 5 star and each interaction was personal.

We stayed in a hilltop tent which was very beautiful, with a great design and very nice views.

We highly recommend but only if you are willing/able to make the trek up to the room (roughly 5 stories up). Breakfast was delicious with many options – the Laos options were very good!
The hotel offers many excursions/trips that are very nice but also a lot more expensive than other private tour companies. However the hotel will help you book trips with other operators if you would like which was a nice service.

We did the hike to Kuang Si falls with the hotel, and loved it – It was nice to see the rice fields on the way up. Somai was a great guide and taught us a lot about Laos – he also took us to a wonderful non touristy spot for a yummy lunch.

Overall we couldn’t recommend The Rosewood more – we can’t wait to come back! Thank you all for making our honeymoon so special.
