Riad Cherihane

Riad Cherihane Marrakech Morocco ( Reviews & Photo)

Seeing some amazing photos on Instagram with many fantastic Riad’s in Marrakech and around Morocco I only wanted to get accommodated only in Riad during my trip to Morocco and no regular hotels even if there were cheaper and some leve. Riad Cherihane Marrakech  was the hotel in Marrakech I booked for the 3 nights stay in Marrakech. I did not wanted to stay in the new town but in the Old Medina of Marrakech even if the place was very tricky to navigate; at least in the map. It was not the case after 3 days in Marrakech.

Location @ Riad Cherihane Marrakech

Located in the Medina, 1.5 km from Djemaa El Fna Square, Riad Cherihane is decorated in a traditional style.

For anyone arriving by taxi to the Riad Cherihane the parking recommended for your car on Rue El Gza is a bit like a vehicle dumping site. You have to navigate tight passages. I had book the 10 euro transfer  from the Marrakesh Airport as I am sure we would not have found on myself. Saving a few Euro is not a good option because it not very easy to find the place for the first time very easily since the location on Google Maps is not very accurate. We had a private transfer and the driver waited for us 2 hours because our Ryanair  flight from Budapest to Marrakech was late.  Arriving late and you really must book the transfer with them as the area in general does not look very safe (but nothing happened to us during all 3 days stay)

The Riad Cherihane is about a 15-20 minute walk into the main square, about a 5 minute walk into the souks, and approximately a 15 minute cab ride to the airport.

The entrance leading into the Riad is open to anyone and looks like a hallway under construction. No key is given to your room as the rooms have no locks. It was a bit strange at first and I asked Nezha, the owner if it’s safe to leave my stuff in the room even if no key was provided. She said it safe and no need to get worried; I was not worried about the owner or stuff taking from my staff but from other travellers. Till the end nothing bad happened but it would be better for them to upgrade the rooms with keys.

When you enter this riad you are welcomed by beautiful décor, a wonderful roof garden and great hospitality.

The hotel in general was very well kept and clean. The decorations and designs are very beautiful.

The rooms themselves are really spacious, clean and feel homely. Bed was very comfortable and AC worked very well.

The room was actually brilliant, I was very comfortable and it was both traditional and well maintained.

The only thing I would say, is that any movement outside of your room you will know about. But this was never a problem as it was always quiet at night and never loud or disruptive.

Bathroom @ Riad Cherihane Marrakech

Bathroom was quite big with the shower separated from the main area and looked more like a cave with an interesting design. The toilets were a bit poor – with a normal soap and normal shampoo. Not having a window the toilet had a smell of mold (not too strong) but in same area you could have already seen the mold coming.

Breakfast @ Riad Cherihane Marrakech

Rezha is a fabulous host. Delicious breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice, strong coffee, pastries, bread & jam. I could have write a book regarding the breakfast at Riad Cherihane. Breakfast was served every morning by the owner (after 8.30am) and consisted of fresh break (bread in Morocco is very good!, croissants, butter and 3 types of gem, tea, coffee, pastries and yogurt. In the last day I had the best chocolate pastry I have ever had in my entire life – and I do love and eat sweets everywhere I travel in this world. A nice addition would have been some fruits to the breakfast but overall is was very good, consistent and fresh every morning.

The Riad has a nice terrace to chill after wandering the streets and the souks. During the day is quote hot to stay there but in the evening is very pleasant to hear the prayer calling; it’s quite an unique sensation.

Final Thoughts for Riad Cherihane

In the unlikely event I returned to Marrakech, I would stay here again for the breakfast. Depending on the season if it’s during the summer when it’s very hot outside I would probably book a riad in Marrakech with swimming pool.

Price & Online Booking @ Riad Cherihane

I stayed for 3 nights during the month of August 2018. The room cost us 30 Euro per night and the fabulous breakfast was included.  You had the Zahra Double Room; if you are looking for a bigger and nicer bathroom book the Hanane Double Room.

You can book Riad Cherihane (score 9.3/10) for best rates and availability Hotels.com or Booking.com.
