We stayed for 4 night at the Annex Hotel located in the centre of District 1 and just a few minutes walk from Hguyen Hue the long boulevard which becomes a mecca at night for the city dwellers to relax, the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Colonial Post Office, the Vincom Centre and of course the Bitexco Financial Tower though the Ben Thành Street Food Market and general market are a little further.
This hotel was in its day very grand with spacious rooms, electric curtains, small balconies lovely bathrooms but the rooms now are starting to look a little tired but it is still an excellent hotel to enjoy the city. Our room was spotlessly clean and fresh monogrammed towels were refreshed each day.
Breakfast – get there early before 8.30 because the warm food containers and fruit seem to be rarely refilled once empty and you will be left relying on the egg station and the cereals. That said we ate early most morning and were never left hungry.
The hotel has a small rooftop pool with good showers and around 6 sun loungers but is a very welcome asset after a hard days sightseeing or to spend your last day at after noon checkout and catches the sun till at least 4 pm. Note the main hotel a minutes walk also has a covered pool and a large roof top patio for dining and drinking as week as sauna and steam rooms though we did not use the sauna.
The staff here are very friendly and once checked out we had use of the hotel facilities for the rest of the day – highly recommended as a reasonably priced 3 star hotel for a few nights in Saigon!
