Montréal is the largest city in Canada’s Québec province. It’s set on an island in the Saint Lawrence River and named after Mt. Royal, the triple-peaked hill at its heart. Its boroughs, many of which were once independent cities, include neighbourhoods ranging from cobblestoned, French colonial Vieux-Montréal – with the Gothic Revival Notre-Dame Basilica at its centre – to bohemian Plateau.

If you’re visiting to see such attractions as the Marché Bonsecours, Basilique Notre-Dame, museums, etc. this is a great place to stay. This modern, sleek hotel is just off Rue Saint-Paul, one of the most interesting streets in old Montreal, and around the corner from Place Jacques-Cartier, where one of the outdoor Christmas markets is located (we visited in December so this was a destination). The hotel lobby and rooms are crisp and clean but not warm and inviting. However, the attached restaurant is excellent and the lounge serves interesting cocktails.

The concierge staff was very friendly and helpful in providing suggestions for restaurants, transportation options, etc. Would definitely stay here again– and in warmer weather, proximity to the riverfront is an added plus.

The hotel is almost brand new which means it’s sleek, sparkling, fresh and modern.

Our room was small, but tasteful and well laid out with many practical and luxury touches, including a very comfortable bed, soft robes, small fridge, easily-directed reading lights, gourmet coffee maker and a delightful multi-nozzle shower.

The location was amazing, with the Christmas Market right outside the door to the restaurant on Place Jacques-Cartier, and easy walking to the Notre Dame Basilica and all of the shops along Rue St. Paul.

Helpful staff; perfect little room with individual heat-control;Wi-fi is spotty in the rooms but strong in the lobby (the building is solid rock); an amazing multi-head shower; simple but delicious breakfast of fresh-baked muffins, croissants, cereal, cappuccino (if you like), fruit.
Steps away from cuisine of essentially any sort: French cafe with delicious escargots;Polish restaurant; sushi bar across the street; upscale Indian and Brazilian restaurants. Food heaven. (Note: hotels and restaurants are more expensive in the old city, of course. ) It’s a straight, 10-15 min walk up to the arts center and Christmas market.

The location of the hotel in Old Montreal is amazing with Rue St. Paul really the place to be for accessing great restaurants, Notre Dame Basilica, the Old Port, Chinatown, etc. January is really the time to go to enjoy good deals at the hotel and having the area pretty well to yourself without the crowds from spring to Christmas which the staff at the hotel say means crowded streets and full hotels.

I would expect that the staff at Le Petit Hotel would step up and treat their guests with great care even with 100% occupancy.

Although it was one of the warmest Christmases at home as well as here, the historic feel of old port, stone walls and warm accents made this stay a perfect Christmas destination. The lobby is warm and petite as well but the perfect scene for when it did finally start to snow.

It was a stunning picture perfect sight looking out the front door and windows at big chunky flakes falling on the old cobblestone narrow street. Great location and great town.

We have been coming to Montreal at Christmas for many years now and since we have discovered Le Petit Hotel we can’t think of any other hotel that makes us feel like we are at a home away from home. The staff are very welcoming and wil cater to your every need. It is apparent that they want their guests to feel well taken care of. The hotel is very modern, cozy, extremely clean and has the best bed in town!

You simply can’t go wrong with the location and the wide variety of excellent restaurants nearby. If you are gluten intolerant, let the hotel know in advance.

It is right in the heart of Old Montreal, and in the summer it must be one of the best locations for stepping directly into the action. While driving to and from the hotel, we actually got stuck behind horse-drawn carriages touring the old port area.

The building itself is a showcase of historic architecture. We had a corner room with three large windows and stone walls…one of which curved gently, definitely not a modern hotel room.

It was a little chilly in the winter with such large windows and the exposed stone, but that made cuddling up in the cushy king bed even better!

Charming hotel in the heart of old Montreal. Excellent customer service and location was fabulous. No car needed as you can walk everywhere or hop on the bike system. Patio and restaurant were also great!

The room was very cozy, and the bed was extremely comfortable. You can see the original stone and some wooden beams protruding from the walls. The shower, of course, was a very cool highlight of the room, with a “rain” setting and color-changing lights, if you choose to use them.

Breakfast was another highlight of our stay, with a basket of goodies waiting for us every morning. It typically consisted of a sizable piece of quiche, yogurt, fruit, a pastry, and the best smoked salmon/cream cheese/croissant that either of have ever had. And each basket had a personalized tag w room numbers and guest names. There were other pastry and juice options available as well, and delicious coffee.

The location is perfect and very walkable to many restaurants, bars, art galleries and the Notre Dame Basilica. We can’t wait to go back to Montreal and the Epik Hotel!
