First of all the Hotel Deutscher Hof was fantastic! Plenty of German hospitality from the staff, the rooms were excellent and the hotel was cosy and warm at all times.

Just what you need after spending a few hours outside looking around the Christmas markets. the hotel was clean and tidy, food was excellent.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Trier. Location to the town centre is also great and only about a 10 minute walk from the Christmas markets.

Trier itself is an interesting place to visit with lots of good restaurants, bars and places of historical interest. I particularly enjoyed visiting the Dom.

This hotel is in an excellent position to explore Trier, especially for the Christmas market at this time of the year. The staff are very friendly and speak good English. I have stayed here several times and it has never failed to live up to expectations.

The rooms are very roomy, light and airy and complimentary Christmas slippers and chocolates in the room were a nice touch. The bed was rather low for my husband who had a hip replacement a few months ago but we had not asked about that beforehand.

For the first time we had dinner at the hotel and it was excellent. They had a celebration of goose and it was served in the traditional manner, really tasty. Breakfast is always substantial with plenty of choice and hot and cold buffets.

2. Ibis Styles Trier 3* – Hotels Near Trier Christmas Market

With a stunning location in the centre of historical Trier, this design hotel is set in the building of the former post office. Ibis Styles Trier features a small fitness room and free WiFi access in all areas.

All of the modern rooms at Ibis Styles Trier come with elegant furnishings including a desk, a sofa and a flat-screen TV. Each also has a private bathroom providing a shower and a hairdryer.

In addition, the hotel serves breakfast each morning at the hotel. Many alternative dining options can be found within a 5-minute walk.

Set in a historic Roman town, this relaxed, contemporary hotel is an 11-minute walk from Porta Nigra and a 13-minute walk from Trier Imperial Baths.

The hotel is built within the historical buildings of the old post office and is just a few hundred meters from the famous Porta Nigra. Some of the rooms have a ceiling height of more than 4.9 yd (4.5 m), which makes for a unique spacious feel.

We stayed in early December to visit the Roman sites and the Christmas market. Pros: The location couldn’t be beat. It was a short walk right into the center of town where restaurants and shopping abound – also very walkable to all the main destinations such as the Porta Nigra and the museum. Room was clean and modern with comfortable beds and bedding.

The complimentary breakfast was well-stocked and was helpful with staying on a budget.

 Location is ideal for strolling through the old city center, for visiting the cathedral and museums, shopping, dining, cinema, and in December, a lovely Christmas market. The hotel lobby offers free tea, coffee, and water throughout the day. Breakfast choices are good. There are baggage carts to bring luggage in and out. The rooms are freshly redecorated and absolutely clean with updated bathrooms.

The rooms have safes but no refrigerators. Directly there in the Posthof is a great Italian restaurant, a tapas restaurant, and a cupcake bakery.

A variety of other restaurants and cafes and bakeries are only a few steps away in the city.

3. Romantik Hotel Zur Glocke 3* – Hotels Near Trier Christmas Market

Romantik Hotel Zur Glocke is located in the Mitte district in Trier, directly in the pedestrian zone, 2 walking minutes from the main market and the famous Porta Nigra. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant.

All rooms are fitted with a flat-screen TV. All rooms have a private bathroom fitted with a bath or shower. For your comfort, you will find bathrobes and slippers.

On a pedestrian-only street lined with shops and eateries, this relaxed hotel in a restored 16th-century building is a 3-minute walk from Trier Cathedral and 4 minutes away on foot from the Porta Nigra. Trier train station is 9 minutes’ walk away.

Warm, individually styled rooms feature Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs, plus en suite bathrooms with rainfall showers. Upgraded rooms (some 2-story) offer balconies or terraces, cathedral views and/or free-standing tubs. Suites add separate living rooms.

There’s an old-world tavern dating from 1803, as well as a vaulted stone cellar with a dining area and a bar. Breakfast is available.

Beside a hotel it is the oldest pub in town and has been in the gastronomical business since 1803. However, the history of the building at Glockenstraße 12 can be traced back much longer.

The listed front house was built in 1567 on walls dating from the 12th century.

The Romantik Hotel Zur Glocke is located in the old town area, a few hundred yards from the Porta Nigra, and very close to the Cathedral and therefore, the Christmas market.

The hotel has recently been tastefully renovated, and our room was large and very comfortable, with classic details. We enjoyed the daily breakfast buffet, which was well stocked with breads, cheeses, yogurt, fresh fruit, etc. which they supplementing by making us eggs and bacon.

We also had dinner in the Wirtshaus-restaurant the night we got there, we had venison goulash with brussel sprouts and bacon, and ham with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes which was excellent.

The restaurant has such a good atmosphere and the breakfasts are among the best we have had anywhere. Our room was in the loft and tricky to get to but we were personally shown to the door.

Room overlooked the character lane, but still very quiet. Only steps from the main square where the Christmas market was, and other major attractions only a stroll away.
