Guide to Gay Friendly Hotels in Lima Peru (2024 Updated)

Lima is the capital city of Peru  and a is one of the  gay-friendliest place in South America along with Cusco on the Andes Mountains. We will find most of the accomodation to be suitable for gay couples in Gay Friendly Hotels Lima.

Lima, Peru has a big openly-gay community for a city of nearly 9 million people and many gays are well and truly out of the closet. The gay scene in Lima is so well-hidden that at first sight it appears there is no gay community there at all. Lima has become a little more liberal in the last few years but, bear in mind that Peru generally still has a macho and conservative culture, which makes the gay community more interesting.

In Peru, consensual same-sex sexual activity has been legal since the enactment of the 1924 Penal Code. From 1836 to 1838, the Bolivian Penal Code, which was imposed by General Andrés de Santa Cruz when the Peru–Bolivian Confederation was established, did not expressly prohibit homosexuality.

Lima, the capital of Peru, lies on the country’s arid Pacific coast. Though its colonial center is preserved, it’s a bustling metropolis and one of South America’s largest cities. It’s home to the Museo Larco collection of pre-Columbian art and the Museo de la Nación, tracing the history of Peru’s ancient civilizations. The Plaza de Armas and the 16th-century cathedral are the heart of old Lima Centro.

BTH is located In a quiet neighborhood (San Borja) within a walking distance ~10 mins from a main Shopping center (La Rambla).

It is modern, kind of avant-garde look but the rooms are relatively small and not always well insulated acoustically.

The rooms are spacious and clean with spa bath and shower. The staff speak English and are eager to please. They provide their own cars and drivers which which can be charged to the room, a very good reliable service well worth taking in a congested city with no real road signs and certainly not a place for the faint hearted to drive.

The hotel decor would not be to everyone’s taste, check the web pictures, but it is functional and clean, in San Borja, a safe area with a supermarket, shops, banks and other device providers just around the corner.

The atmosphere in the hotel is super cool, from the art decorations, to the modern feel of the furniture that is super stylish, to the background DJ music playing, to the Porsche 911 Carrera beautifully parked in the large lobby of the hotel (yes, pretty sick!!) to the different theme floor plans of each floor ( from London, NY, Holland, etc)….The staff are super nice and courteous and the rooms are amazing (jacuzzis’ and steam showers-do I have to say more…!)

You gotta try the Restaurant downstairs; Restaurant Quimera has delicious food! I had dinner there almost every night I staid (from Peruvian to International food)..Their complementary breakfast buffet international/Peruvian breakfast is another must!!

Also, they have this super cool Bar next to Quimera, Bar Madbar you gotta check out! Perfect Bar for pre-going out! They have a Dj and different cool events all the time!!… Don’t be surprised if their is some fashion show or art exhibit going on during your stay (wish is pretty cool to check out)…
I’m definitely coming back on my next business/pleasure trip to Peru-this place is amazing.

BTH tries very hard to be funky, unusual, quirky. “Not normal”, in their own branding. It does that, with a lot of black surfaces, metal and concrete finishes, rock music in bar & reception areas seemingly 24/7 & design elements built in to pretty much everything. Oh, and a car parked in reception.

Staff were excellent, restaurant and room service food outstanding.

2. Belmond Miraflores Park 5* – Gay Friendly Hotels Lima

Belmond Miraflores Park
Belmond Miraflores Park

Belmond Miraflores Park features an outdoor pool, with panoramic ocean views, a spa and luxurious accommodation with marble bathrooms. It is situated in the Miraflores district of Lima, 100 m from Beach Circuit Avenue.

Rooms at Belmond Miraflores Park Hotel offer either panoramic ocean or city views. They have a seating area with cable TV, free WiFi and a minibar. Some rooms come with a private sauna and even a Roman bathtub.

All guests are welcomed with fresh fruit.

Wellness facilities include several massage treatments. Guests can enjoy the sun at the terrace by the heated pool, or work out in Belmond Miraflores Park’s gym. City excursions can be arranged through the tour desk.

On the 11th floor, a sumptuous breakfast buffet is served while gazing out over the ocean and Lima city, as well as candlelit dinners, prepared with Peruvian products. Pisco Sour cocktails can be ordered at Belo Bar. Some guests will have access to the Executive Lounge which is located on the 10th floor. The lounge offers breakfast, tea, snacks, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages during the evening.

There’s something special about a room with a sea view. Waking up to the image of sun-gilded waves in the morning. Watching the moonlight play along the surf late at night. When that sea view is offered by a hotel in a bustling Latin American capital city, it is something very special indeed. We’re willing to bet that there are few city hotels that can cite a string of palm trees as their closest neighbors.

Set in a verdant garden atop a towering cliff, Belmond Miraflores Park is a true urban sanctuary. The hotel takes its name from the well-heeled neighborhood of Miraflores. This suburb of Lima is loved by locals for its luxury shopping and blooming six-mile boardwalk that borders the Pacific. It’s no coincidence that Miraflores translates to “Look! Flowers!” in English.

Whether you’re with us for business or for leisure, Belmond Miraflores Park is destined to impress. There’s a sophisticated Executive Lounge on the tenth floor in which you can while away those work hours in style.

The hotel is a five minute walk Larcomar shopping centre which has a vast selection of high end shops, cafes and restaurants. It overlooks the ocean which actually is not as good as it sounds since there is almost nobody on the beach below.

The staff were charming and very helpful in dealing with our queries. The breakfasts offered a good choice of foods and the WiFi was excellent. We found the swimming pool to be a bit exposed and not very inviting.
However overall the Belmond Miraflores was probably the best hotel we stayed at in the whole of Peru.

The 8th floor city view club junior suite room is large and has an old English feel. There is a floral smell to the room, and hallway, which I think may be covering a strange musty odor. The bathroom is spacious, with double sink and bathtub and shower. Our king bed was very comfortable, I slept like a baby. I’d read reviews that stated there are both 110 & 220 volt outlets throughout the room, sort of true. I found that there is 1 outlet that is 110v and takes the standard US 2 flat prong plugs. The other 110v outlets take the EU 2 round prong plugs. I wish I’d brought my EU adapters which could have been used to increase the number of available outlets.

The flat screen tv has a variety of channels including news and movies. The espresso maker in the room is a little temperamental. No problems with WiFi. The in room newspaper is a photocopy of newspaper highlights, but does have a crossword and sudoku. We were informed that our room status gives us access to the 10th floor lounge which offers snacks and drinks 24 hours, but the staff is only there from 6-10 limiting what is available after hours. A nice touch though! The breakfast buffet is in the observatory lounge on the 11th floor.

The pool and adequate fitness center are also on this floor. On a clear day the view is likely lovely, we missed out on clear days. At the buffet there is a made to order egg station, a pastry/bread station, cereal, fruit and cheese station and hot waffle, crepe and meat station. The hotel location is a short walk to Larcomar (cliffside mall), Av Jose Larco (shopping) and the Malecon which can be walked to various parks and a lighthouse. Barranco is also not too far of a walk, for someone who doesn’t mind walking. Staff was overall consistently helpful and friendly.

It’s a 45 mins drive from the centre of Lima, but Miraflores is so much more peaceful and has far more to offer! Cliff top location (sadly, we didn’t get a room with a view of the Pacific) but we did enjoy the view from terrace at breakfast in the rooftop restaurant. A few minutes walk along the cliff top walkway, and you are at the Larcomar Shopping Mall where we enjoyed a few pisco sours and a couple of meals. The rooftop pool next to the breakfast restaurant was amazing if a little ‘refreshing’.

So friendly of the restaurant team to allow us, in our damp swimming costumes and robes, to welcome us into the restaurant when everyone else was fully dressed. Gabby was particularly helpful and chatty. Breakfast was a great spread. The rooms were very spacious, immaculate and the bathrooms were beautiful – that shower was so so welcome! The ‘City Centre’ view was really just looking at other high rise buildings, so not very inspiring.

We booked an Ocean View Club Level Jr Suite and were given a superb corner room with views of the ocean, cliffs, the turtle pond and park below and (bonus!) paragliders and surfers. However, the best part was the Club Lounge! We had access to light meals all day, including salads, hot hors d’oeuvres and entrees, breads, nuts and cheeses; coffee, water, soft drinks, local beer, and wine at dinnertime.

The Club Lounge staff gave amazing service, particularly Cesar who went out of his way to get us the recipe for one of the salad dressings, directed us to go to the Indio Market for shopping, and gave us Pisco Sour samples. The hotel also has a car service; we used it to go to the market at $24 round trip. Overall the hotel and staff service were uniformly excellent, would stay there again if we were ever back in Lima.

3. Quinta Miraflores Boutique Hotel 4* – LGBT Friendly Hotels Lima

Quinta Miraflores Boutique Hotel
Quinta Miraflores Boutique Hotel

Set in a charming building from the early 20th Century with classic decor, Boutique Hotel Quinta Miraflores offers rooms with free Wi-Fi and plasma TV in central Miraflores. Breakfast and free parking are provided. Kennedy Park is a 10-minute walk away.

With parquet floors, linen fabrics, and stylish furnishing, rooms at Quinta Miraflores feature air conditioning and heating. All of them are bright and have minibars and private bathrooms.

A continental breakfast is served daily in the rooms. Restaurants can be found around the corner.

Quinta Miraflores Boutique Hotel is a small and fascinating residence in the neighborhood of Miraflores, Lima. As a guest, you can enjoy the experience of living in Miraflores, feeling at home, with all the comforts of a boutique hotel.

To stay in a beautiful Peruvian home, so quiet and peaceful and it felt like home – except way more comfortable ! We have a very good mattress at home and it didn’t even compare to how comfortable the bed was here! You will sink into the bed and have the best sleep ever! The air conditioning was extremely quiet we couldn’t even hear that it was on. Both nights we had peace and quiet all night ! The gardens for a delicious breakfast were perfect and we wished we had more time in them!

You can walk to everything – including a number of very good and well-known restaurants. Close to el malecon. Surrounded by great neighborhoods. Away from all the ‘touristy’ places. And the house itself is beyond lovely. The attention to decor detail is impeccable. You feel as if you are in a country home in France or Italy. From the beautiful room with a chandelier over the bed, and little chandeliers on the wall next to the bed, to the slippers, robes, complimentary water and and breakfast tray you receive in the morning..EVERYTHING in this place is beautifully done. Chandeliers, beautiful furniture, burning candles, hardwood floors, lovely bath fixtures (and products) – I cannot say enough.

I felt completely at home, not like I was at a hotel. Plus, the staff all get an A+ for service, hospitality, and excellent recommendations. The front yard is lovely and always fresh flowers on the table.

The only drawback for some people is that is it on Av. 28 de julio which is very busy during the day (read: lots of noise and exhaust fumes). But when you are inside, it’s not that bad (and I had a room that faced the street). And at night it gets totally quiet.

This little hotel is a gem. Located in the Miraflores district, where it is safe to walk everywhere and we did! The staff are very helpful giving advise on restaurants ( walking distance), shopping and local sites. There are four rooms but we only saw the two larger ones. which were very clean, roomy quiet and comfortable. A delicious breakfast was served out in the garden every morning. including yummy lattes.

This is a very charming small boutique hotel which we can recommend for everyone who dislikes modern hotel chains. The hotel has only 4 rooms, but each of them has been very nicely decorated by Barbara, the Italian owner. They all have their individual colour and style. Also the bathrooms are very nice. The delicious breakfast is served outside in the garden. And you have a great selection of first class restaurants around the hotel, all in walking distance.

Greatly located in Miraflores, with just four quiet rooms. Decorated with ideas of the past. Very comfortable with good breakfast and extremely helpful staff. Walking distance to very good restaurants (recommended by the hotel) as well to a great sunset over the ocean. A short taxi ride to all museums as well as historic section of the town. For people who like us are looking for something different than large lobbies this is great find.

Old refurbished bungalow with character in the midst of modern high rise developments. Staff very friendly and made us feel like being in a home. Breakfast outside in the garden will remain a fond memory.

Starbucks is on the left side of the building which is convenient. Many good restaurants within short walking distance and Larcomar shopping mall by the seafront is walkable.

4. Sheraton Lima Hotel & Convention Center 5* – Gay Friendly Hotels Lima

Sheraton Lima Hotel & Convention Center
Sheraton Lima Hotel & Convention Center

Located less than 4 km from the lively nightlife of the Playa Waikiki beachfront, Sheraton Lima Hotel & Convention Center offers accommodation with a swimming pool, sauna and fitness center.

The spacious rooms enjoy views of the city and private balconies. They offer a large LCD TV and en suite facilities with a bath and shower.

The 2 hotel restaurants offer traditional Peruvian cuisine and international dishes, while the Kero Bar provides lighter refreshments and drink.

tay at Sheraton Lima Hotel & Convention Center, a high-end hotel in Lima, Peru situated just an 8-minute walk from exhibits at Museo de Arte de Lima. Our accommodations are also close to football matches at Estadio Nacional de Lima

Location: If you are looking to stay as close to the historic city center and its beautiful architecture as possible, the Sheraton is THE place. A short walk to Plaza San Martin and Plaza de Armas, literally next to Park of the Exposition and museums, across from the Palace of Justice, and adjacent to a shopping mall (if you’re into that) with a few restaurants. Can’t beat the location.

Customer Service: Truly top notch! Front desk staff were extremely friendly, efficient, and helpful! Bags easily checked and stored, all with a smile. Bartender (older gentleman) was friendly and good at his job. Every encounter with the staff was excellent.

Junior Suite: Thoroughly enjoyed my room. Very large with dining area, large living room, comfortable bed/pillows, two (small) balconies, large bathroom (plus a half bath off the entrance) with all the amenities, including slippers and wonderful robes.

Though an older 70s hotel, the room felt updated and very clean. Definitely worth the extra money and reasonably priced. The rooms are clean, nicely furnished, well maintained.

About 10-15 minutes of leisurely walk to Plaza de Armas, 5 minutes to Plaza San Martin. The staff, from the front desk clerks to porters speak English and are extremely helpful and friendly. The doorman calls a taxi, negotiates your price and writes down the cabbie’s license number as a security precaution. The breakfast is very good, served at the club and in the restaurant on the ground floor.

And a totally unique feature – they start it at 3 AM for early departures although the early bird choices are limited to basic staples such as bred, scrambled eggs and bacon as opposed to the regular breakfast with lox, jamon, lomo saltado, a Peruvian chicken dish, fresh juices and great choice of pastries, all of very good quality. And as the pinnacle of their impeccable service.

Excellent location in Centro Historico, within walking distance to all the tourist attractions. Hence, it is a good base for the avid tourist to explore Plaza Mayor (Plaza de Armas), Plaza San Martin, churches, colonial architecture, the presidential palace, congress, and shopping streets.

The exterior may look tired and shabby but the interiors are the exact opposite. Rooms are well maintained, and the beds are very comfortable. I was assigned a room on the Club Floor, hence easy access to the Club room.

The gym is fairly well equipped, and allows for a good workout.

.For room, I recommend to get the one facing Palace of Justice. In the morning at almost 8am you can see the Peruvian flag being raised from rooftop of the Palace of Justice. The room we had was traditional deluxe Sheraton room. Spacy enough to put luggages down. We had to call room service twice to borrow an iron because they did not understand what iron was. We had to translate it in spanish to get it delivered – no big deal. There is an outdoor swimming pool and a fitness center on Mezzanine level. The pool is classic, nothing special.

You can catch a cab to go to almost everywhere in Lima. Unless you use hotel’s taxi, regular cabs will cost you no more than 15 soles to most of tourist attractions such as Miraflores, Barranco, or Jockey Plaza. To keep within budget, we flagged a cab to head to the airport (hotel van costs double than regular taxi). Our bellboy had concern about our security using regular taxi, so he wrote down the driver’s name and numbers and repeatedly told him to be safe until dropping us off at the airport. We really appreciated that. I would definitely come back.

It is very accessible, just two blocks from the expressway and the oval of Miraflores; from the airport, you may arrive in less than an hour. All this makes it an ideal hotel for both tourism and corporate.

Hotel is New and clean. Rooms are large and people are friendly. It is well located , but not noisy. Breakfast is adequate.

Rooms are plain but very clean and new. They need to provide leche.. milk for the coffee and tea in the reception area. But that was the only issue and so minor. Breakfast was excellent… and good variety of cooked and fresh .. drinks and cereals etc.. I would recommend to anyone… as it was so quiet with virtually no street noise at all.

The location is Great, Miraflores is a commercial save district, it is excellent relation quality\price you can not find better, is clean, quiet and the personal is very kind. I really recommend it! they offer a service of mobility that we find a great suggestion, because Lima is a little dangerous, so we could go around save with the hotel mobility, its and additional of course but I would recommend you to consider it, its Lima.

It is 4 mins walk to the cheap, fast and safe Metropolitano bus route into the old town and its museums and is 5 mins walk to the Airport Express bus stop at Maria Angola. No need for taxis to the places I wanted to visit. Shops and restaurants are round the corner. The room is good size with excellent big hot and powerful shower. Fast free wifi everywhere. Breakfast is plentiful and buffet-style with three bowls of cut fruit (varying every day), whole fruits, eggs, meats, cheeses, tomatoes, cereals, juices, yoghurts, coffee, tea, breads and cake. Bottles of water are free in the room each day. Constant tea downstairs. Staff are young, smiling and helpful.

Great hotel, minimalist and clean. The shower was amazing and the staff was courteous. Breakfast was simple but had a variety of items. The location is really good, next to Kennedy park and near some really good restaurants.
