Halal Hotels Amsterdam

The Netherlands has a long history with Islam. For many centuries it ruled the largest Muslim nation in the world, Indonesia. Today, the Netherlands has just over 17.1 million inhabitants, of which roughly five percent are Muslims, although the general public tends to overestimate this number
By Crescent Rating, The Netherlands is 20th rated among most Muslim-friendly countries.
How many mosques are there in The Netherlands ?
There are about 400 mosques in the Netherlands, with about 200 Turkish mosques, 140 Moroccan mosques and 50 Surinamese.

The Muslim friendly hotel means a hotel that has Islamic characteristics that can provide basic facilities that are more friendly to Muslim customers such as a Qibla direction indicator, the availability of prayer tools, the presence of halal food / list of nearby restaurants that provide halal food.

Like other tourists, Muslim travelers coming from Islamic countries have particular requirements when they choose the destination for their vacation. Among these requirements, Muslims are concerned about the availability of halal compliant foods (no pork or alcohol in food) and a clean place to pray.

Many international hotels in Amsterdam do serve halal food that is slaughtered in accordance with the teachings of Islamic Sharia and is free of any substances forbidden by Islam such as pork and alcohol.

Other Islamic countries such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Oman and Brunei continue to be popular with Muslim tourists. Among non-OIC countries, Singapore, Thailand, the UK, Japan and Taiwan remain the top five respectively, but show improved scores on the index.

The room we had at the back of the hotel was very quiet and comfortable. It was well designed with good quality facilities. For Amsterdam too it was a relatively good size. We were offered a complimentary drink on arrival and hot drinks etc are available downstairs plus we asked for a kettle in our room so we could make drinks there. The breakfast is good with plenty of choice and coffee is excellent! The location is good on several tram lines which take you quickly into town. We usually walked though as its about 30 minutes to get to the train station, or 20 minutes to Anne Frank Museum.

The hotel owner sells tram tickets should you want them. Everyone who worked at the hotel is very friendly and we were made to feel at home. We requested a quiet room at the rear of hotel which was provided.

Location: Good location for walking or taking the tram for sightseeing. Use google maps to determine distances. Do not rely on others telling you how much walking time is involved. Website says that Anne Frank’s House is a 10 minute walk.

This is true if you are a fast walker. It took me 20 minutes – walking at an easy pace. I did not use the tram – walked to most of the sights including Central (trainstation, Dam Square etc.

Complimentary breakfast and hot beverages: Adequate as described by other reviewers. Gluten-free choices.

Regular coffee is made by the cup but decaf is instant. Hotel was fully occupied during my stay but there was lots room to sit if you dine early. No restaurant on-site. Plenty of dining options and grocery stores in area.

Front desk staff: Welcoming, helpful and friendly.

Elevators/lifts: One small modern guest lift but like most boutique hotels. If you weigh 100 kg or over, or with a larger wheelchair it may be a tight squeeze.

Clean, friendly, well-located and well managed property. Good value considering Amsterdam can be very expensive. Would stay again but no more than 3-4 nights due to bed firmness.

Restaurant has good halal food. Spa was good but was closed for women only when we wanted to use is annoying as it was a long period.

This hotel was perfect in every which way for the woefully short time I had in the city. Upon arrival, I was met with incredibly helpful and courteous staff, who did their utmost to ensure my stay was as comfortable as possible. The room was most comfortable – I was on the seventh floor, so the views were fantastic, despite being of the city. I didn’t get to use the spa unfortunately, but from what I could see of other using it, it looked brilliant. The location of the hotel was convenient – it was easy to get to the main hub of Amsterdam, and to and from the airport. The restaurant staff were also incredibly good. The food, both the breakfast and the lunch/dinner were delicious and filling, and the halal options were a great bonus.

The only bug-bear was that our TV wasn’t working properly, but this did nothing to take away from the whole experience. I would heartily recommend this hotel to any travellers, and I too will go back to this hotel, should I be lucky enough to visit the city again.

Rooms are really spacious and very clean. Beds are massive and comfortable, floor to ceiling windows. Food is halal for any Muslims thinking of booking, also has a spa relaxation centre and has women only times throughout the day.

It is about 4 min walk to the Metro/tram stop which then takes around 20 mins to get to the centre of Amsterdam.

I liked the hotel and the idea of automation in many aspects such as self checkin/checkout kiosks, temporary power when entering the room before inserting card, auto illumination in bathroom, etc. Also, this hotel has Turkish hammam which adds another advantage to a hotel outside Turkey.

More importantly, the hotels serves HALAL diet which is rare in a European hotel. The hotel is very close to a nice mosque (Blue Mosque). In addition, there is a BAZAR open 24h in the lobby for light snacks.

This is really the way you should stay while visiting Amsterdam, in a hotel boat located in central Amsterdam. We had our own room, located in the front of the ship, where usually the “mate” of the ship lives.

The room has its own shower and toilet, it is clean and the staff are very friendly.
The breakfast is amazing, perfect way to start your day in Amsterdam.

It took about 20 mins walk to the station. Close to restaurants and coffee shops around the station. Also very close to NEMO Science Museum. The hotel is clean and compact with nice Dutch breakfast. Friendly gentleman who manage all the matters during our stay. Also friendly cute dog !!!! Fall in love with this place.

However, this hotelboat only open for accommodation during fall/winter only. In spring/summer they sail with passengers to other places/countries.

The 189 comfortable rooms have every convenience you would expect of a four-star hotel. Several of the rooms have a balcony with a view of the wonderful city garden. The Deluxe and Executive tower rooms, at a higher level, offer a wonderful view of Rotterdam.

The staff is very friendly. Once I had a small room which isn’t that nice but the two bigger rooms, especially the one on the front side, are great. The location is the best benefit of this hotel; just opposite the Witte de Withstraat with very nice bars and restaurants. The center with the shops are also very nearby (5 minutes walk).

. Great location that’s only minutes away from the heart of Rotterdam, the popular dining and bars in witte de witte.

Unfortunately I had no chance to try the acclaimed Park Restaurant, but was very pleased with the lounge and overall amenities the hotel had to offer. Room was spacious, service was almost always prompt.

The staff is very nice and helpful at all times. The room i stayed in was nice and clean, not big, maybe like a prison cell if would guess, but for sleeping and staying in for a small amount of hours per day, it was good. TV and free WiFi was included in the package and so was breakfast. The breakfast was chaotic. Too many people on a to small a place. the staff seemed stressed to keep up with demands and clearing of the tables. The selection was good, with very nice bread selection on offer. The hotel it self is located very very central and you have easy access to both metro and tram that can take you anywhere in the city.

You are 10 min walk from the central station, so you can easily access the rest of The Netherlands and Amsterdam Airport. Room with a garden view should be taken, as the streets outside the hotel is very busy.
