On the whole, Switzerland is tolerant and gay-friendly, especially in more urban and diverse areas. This is a wonderful boutique-type hotel near the University area, but in a more quiet setting. Close to downtown by a moderate walk. Very nice rooms and a nice restaurant and bar with a jazz club. We only could stay one night, but we wished we had more time to spend at this lovely hotel.

. It was one of our favorite places to stay during our entire trip. We love music so it fit us to a ‘T’! It was easy to find – free parking right in front of the hotel and the check in desk agent was super friendly and helpful! We booked the Lionel Hampton Suite – each suite is named and styled after a jazz legend.

Our suite was very spacious (large sitting area, nice windows, king bed) and accessorized with mementos from Lionel’s personal collection which was very interesting and fun. It was spotless clean and the bathroom and amenities were very nice! We stayed two nights. The bus to city center stops right in front of the hotel and they give you a bus pass so you can ride into town for free – again super easy!

The hotel is up on a bluff above the city – in a park like setting with beautiful outdoor spaces, a cafe etc., nice a quiet. We had dinner in the restaurant (Josephine’s) which was excellent – one of our best meals of the trip. But the very best part was that they have a jazz club in the hotel and have live jazz Tuesday through Saturday.. We went to the Tuesday performance and it was INCREDIBLE! It was a Japanese pianist the Chihiro Yamanaka Trio – she was one of the greatest pianists we have ever seen! It was so fun – a wonderful intimate setting, it was sold out on a Tuesday night – the drinks we had were great and they serve food in the club as well.

The owners (Hans & Marian) host the Bern Jazz Festival each spring – so they have been involved in the jazz community for many years – we had a nice chat with Marianne the morning we left the hotel – charming! I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants something a bit different – it is awesome and we can’t wait to go back.

The Innere Enge Hotel have been around since the early 18th century. Just a short bus ride from the Bern rail station, it’s a quiet oasis away from the busy downtown. The hotel and expansive property are set on a high promontory with a spectacular view overlooking the city and several famous Swiss alpine peaks in the distance.

The hotel is noted for hosting many jazz musicians over the years, and have special rooms named after a number of Jazz greats who have stayed there. There are also busts and caricatures of some of the jazz notables.

Check-in was quick and efficient. Since we had arrived a bit early, friendly staff took care of our luggage and directed us to the restaurant bar for a complimentary welcoming drink.

By the time we had finished our drinks, our room was ready. Our room, on the main floor, was spacious and very comfortable with a king-sized bed, a view of the garden, and featured a very efficient, recently installed air conditioner. We also had a bar fridge and safe.

The breakfast buffet was served in the hotel restaurant, Josephine. I presume the name came from Napoleon Bonaparte’s wife, Empress Josephine, who visited the same hotel in 1810. The main seating area is set in an airy greenhouse-like room with great views of the city. Breakfast itself was excellent with a huge variety of cereals, juices, meats (including smoked salmon), cheeses, fruits & juices. Coffee was brought to our table as ordered.

Fine Swiss specialties and a rich buffet breakfast can be enjoyed in the Alpine-style restaurant. From December to April 4-course dinners are served and you can choose freely from the salad bar.

Opposite the Lauterbrunnen (Seilbahn) gondola lift station, this laid-back hotel is a 13-minute walk from Staubbach Falls and 26 km from the Kleine Scheidegg mountain pass.

Down-to-earth rooms and suites offer free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and en suite bathrooms. Some have balconies, sitting areas, exposed beams and/or wood-paneled walls.

A breakfast buffet and parking are complimentary. There’s an unassuming restaurant with a fireplace, a terrace and a sunroom.

Hotel Silberhorn is an excellent choice for travelers visiting Lauterbrunnen, offering a romantic environment alongside many helpful amenities designed to enhance your stay.

Free wifi is offered to guests, and rooms at Minotel Lauterbrunnen offer a flat screen TV.

During your stay, take advantage of some of the amenities offered, including newspaper and a sun terrace. Guests of Hotel Silberhorn are also welcome to enjoy free breakfast, located on site. For travelers arriving by car, free parking is available.

During your visit, be sure to check out one of Lauterbrunnen’s popular schnitzel restaurants such as Hotel Oberland Restaurant, Swiss Restaurant Weidstuebli, and Hotel Restaurant Silberhorn, all a short distance from Hotel Silberhorn.

Best of all, Minotel Lauterbrunnen makes it easy to experience many great Lauterbrunnen attractions like Lauterbrunnen Valley Waterfalls, Trummelbach Falls, and Lauterbrunnen Village, which are some popular waterfalls.

The hotel is located near the Lauterbrunnen train station and the cablecard station. It is most convenient if you try to go to Jungfraujoch on the other side of the valley or go to Murren/Schilthorn on this side of the valley. The room is clean, decent size with fantastic view of the Staubbach Falls.

The restaurant is good with great service but I am not a great fan of local Swiss food. Try the other dishes. Got room value for my money considering Swiss hotels in general are always expensive.

Recommend to Stay here for a minimum of three nights for you to fully enjoy the Lauterbrunnen valley which I think is among one of the most beautiful places in the world.

The hotel is in a perfect and quiet position and only a short walk away from the train station and the cable car. Car parking is free and with easy access to the hotel’s 2nd floor. The hotel doesn’t have a lift which may be a problem for some guests. Internet was secure and worked well. We had a room facing down the valley to the mountains and waterfall – it wasn’t cheap but it was great to sleep with the curtains open and wake to that view.

Continental breakfast was excellent with a good range of food (small point – coffee was from a machine but we would prefer to be served with fresh coffee/tea). Our room was modern with a comfortable bed and a very up-to-date bathroom. Although we could hear footsteps above, there was no sound from rooms either side of ours. In the breakfast room the background music was very quiet (thank goodness!) and this helped to create a calm atmosphere. Welcoming and helpful reception and staff. We will definitely book here again when staying in Lauterbrunnen.

Lauterbrunnen is a great base from which to explore the region and we stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is in a peaceful location, yet close to the rail station. Our room was spacious, well appointed and had a wonderful balcony looking out over the valley.

Dinner in the restaurant was quite good, serving typical regional dishes. Breakfast was the standard buffet and was average.

While not a problem for us, the hotel has no elevator and didn’t seem to offer regular help with luggage which may be an issue for some.

We found the included breakfast room spread to be sufficient, full of tasty beads, cheese, eggs, sausage, juices and the typical continental options.

It might have been nice to have an extra meat option like bacon, but maybe it’s just me as a warm blooded meat eater. We did thoroughly enjoy the hotel restaurant for dinner both nights and found the pricing to be very reasonable compared to those in Zermatt. The menu is full of hearty portions and everything tasted great especially the pizza, Cordon Bleu and Rosti I had. You can also charge your meal to the room which is convenient.

This hotel is in an excellent location and a very short walk from train station. The rooms are so spacious and made of beautiful cedar and modern bathrooms. The rooms included both a couch and lounge chair and amazing views from all parts of the room. We chose a valley view where you can be mesmerized by the waterfall and the hotel’s gorgeous garden with walking path to higher ground to see more amazing views. The breakfast was superb and the hotel owners/staff very friendly and helpful. This hotel is so amazing that we want to stay several nights next time.

This hotel epitomizes what often makes Best Western excellent value in Europe. Staff were very friendly and helpful (although one local restaurant recommendation wasn’t very good), room and surroundings were super clean and felt new (not sure if the property was recently renovated but it sure felt like it) and room amenities first class.

The restaurant was very good for breakfast and one dinner but note that on Sundays there is nothing else open nearby. With a great location right in the centre of the city (and next door to a supermarket) this was a great stay and amongst the best value of our travel in Switzerland.

Fantastic hotel, wonderful staff, clean gorgeous rooms. I loved everything about my stay. When I arrived I was greeted by a wonderful receptionist Celine, she gave me the best room I could have hoped for and was eager to help in any way. The hotel is in the center, very clean, rooms look fantastic, it has an air condition (life saver in the heat), bed is very comfortable, bathroom and shower fabulous.

There is a panorama bar on the top with fantastic view of the city. The rooms are very quiet. All the members of the staff were eager to help in every way and always had a big smile on their faces. AT departure I was given a small gift as gratitude for my stay. Loved, loved Loved everything about my stay and will stay there again.
