An eco hotel, or a green hotel, is an environmentally sustainable hotel or accommodation that has made important environmental improvements to its structure in order to minimize its impact on the natural environment and eco resorts Caribbean are considered excellent place to hang out for a couple of nights in Aruba and then beyond in Caribbean.

This is in adherence to The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) definition of ecotourism as: “responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people.” Hence, eco-friendly resorts and accommodation are often rustic, with the focus being on getting in touch with..

Why You Should Book Bucuti & Tara Boutique Beach Resort

The intimate atmosphere is exclusive and relaxing to couples seeking tranquility and romantic experiences. No groups and no all-inclusive packages available.

Two top restaurants available on property and romantic beach dining. Breakfast is free daily.

Surrounded by palm trees, this upscale, adults-only resort on Eagle Beach is a 5-minute walk from the Alhambra Casino and 8 km from Queen Beatrix International Airport.

Refined rooms offer smart TVs, free Wi-Fi, and balconies or terraces, as well as minibars, microwaves and iPod docks.

Upgraded rooms add sea views. Suites provide living areas and/or kitchens, while upgraded rooftop suites feature private beach cabanas.

Complimentary perks include breakfast, parking and beachfront movie screenings. Amenities consist of an outdoor pool, a gym, a spa and an open-air beach bar, plus a restaurant facing the sea.

The Bucuti is a place that has the environment, community & vibe that encourages nothing other than relaxation, unplugging from work & connecting with your loved one.

One of the most appealing things for us personally is how truly eco friendly they are, in addition the opportunity to give back to the community through Pack for a Purpose.

They are also LGBTQ friendly which was refreshing to experience but also they have created a culture of repeat guests that made us feel incredibly welcomed & we cannot wait to go back.

Bucuti Tara stands on the most beautiful beach of Aruba, Eagle Beach but that’s not what makes it so unique.

It’s the unmatched service, incredible staff and a fantastic eco-friendly facility that makes you never wanna leave.

It is by far the most beautifully maintained eco-friendly, peaceful, resort anywhere. The staff is exceptional from the moment you arrive with your bags (Frank) to how you are greeted (with a delicious glass of Prosecco) and checked in.

Your rooms are always so clean with the nicest housekeeping staff (Jasmine) not to mention the most up to date methods of sanitizing.

The complimentary breakfast is of gourmet quality with the largest choices of freshest pastries and various local fruit.

You can have a omelet of your choice made for you or chose from a variety of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, or Dutch potatoes. They also offer a daily Vegan special and a daily “special” breakfast.

I’ve been to many luxury properties, I would consider Bucuti and Tara a 5 star.

The minute you pull in, you can see how excited the staff is to welcome you with a cold glass of Champagne!

Marilyn and Julie checked us in and were super accommodating throughout our stay. We had the Tara Suite and WOW! I can’t say enough about the suite.

Comfy bed, amazing view of the sunset every night, 2 TV’s and also one in the mirror in the bathroom in case you don’t want to miss something.

Gorgeous bathroom with all the toiletries are wall mounted. Wall mounted sanitizers, lotion, bath gel, shampoo, conditioner, etc…

They have air purifiers and dehumidifiers in the rooms, although we didn’t use the dehumidifier, the purifiers were great!

Breakfast included and we were blown away at the choices. It kept us full until the afternoon! Elements is the restaurant there and it was gourmet!

Be freshest seafood I’ve had and one dish was better then the next. Christian was our waiter and he was amazing!

This hotel is privately owned and operated and not a chain. It has that individual pampering you’re looking for in an adults only hotel.

You won’t find boom boxes or loud music at the beach, just quiet ocean breezes. They focus on wellness, so make sure you visit the spa!!

It’s super eco friendly and you won’t find water bottles. They give you 2 of your own reusable water bottles and there are filling stations you can go to. BRILLIANT!

They have tons of awards and reviews for their ecological efforts. Check them out!!

Why You Should NOT Book Bucuti & Tara Boutique Beach Resort

Disappointed by the dark room with garden view, on the ground floor, so no privacy and no nice view and small beds. A lot of money for poor value.

No amenities in the room, no toothbrush, shaver etc….. you have to buy those in the shop

2. Acajou Hotel 3* – Eco Hotels Caribbean

Acajou Hotel

This eco-friendly hotel is set in Grande Riviere Bay between the river, the beach and the mountains. It features free Wi-Fi throughout the property, bird watching and turtle watching tours and free private parking.

The cottages at Acajou Hotel offer tropical décor, a fan, mosquito net and river views. The bathrooms are private and have shower.

Video Review of Acajou Hotel

The on-site restaurant features a mix of Swedish and Trinitarian cuisine and the Acajou’s menu also offers local and continental influences made with organic products from the garden or from the local farmers.

Why You Should Book Acajou Hotel – Eco Hotels Caribbean

Family run hotel situated on the beautiful and dramatic northern Coast of Trinidad in a little fishing village called Grande Riviere.

The hotel is built as a group of traditional cottages nestled in between the beach, a crystal clear river and lush rainforest covered mountains.

ACAJOU is a small, eco-friendly, family run hotel situated on the beautiful and dramatic northern Coast of Trinidad in a little fishing village called Grande Riviere.

The hotel is eco-friendly tropical chic and very organic.

Therefore, they forgo some of the modern, but unnecessary and sometimes counter-productive, hotel luxuries and make up for it in peace, quiet, seclusion and great customer service.

Think of it as glamping in a solid, gorgeous, natural tent on the beach with a lot of modern conveniences. If you are looking for a spa where people wait on you hand and foot. This ain’t it.

If you want to cuddle up with a view of the ocean and read while listening to tropical birds and rainfall.

If you have ever been to Trinidad, you would know that Carnival and commerce are the driving factors. What many people don’t know is that Trinidad has many hidden gems that appeal to the eco minded tourists looking to disconnect from the humdrum of daily life.

Acajou is everything you can want if you are seeking to get away from it all.

This is not the Hyatt or any other hotel in or near a city, this is ECO Tourism at it’s Trini best.

If you are looking for a place to go turtle watching THIS IS THE BEST PLACE TO BE.

Hundreds of turtles can be seen on the beach over the night, but off course it’s nature so some nights are better than others.

The hotel is tucked away in the North East of the island on the banks of the Grand Riviere River and Grand Riviere Beach.

The hotel is small and comprises 6 cottages all of which are beautifully maintained and offer an unobstructed view of the River and Ocean in the distance.

The ground are also well maintained and clean. The beach is accessible from the property.

The rooms were well kept and bed comfortable.

Each room has a porch with a hammock where you can just sit and relax.

Just writing this review, thinking about the place has me longing to go back. The cottages are really thoughtfully designed.

Each one has a standpipe at the base of the steps so you can wash the sand off your feet before going in.

The shower if unlocked from the inside, has a door that allows access from outside. That is a safe and thoughtful design. No need to get the room dirty.

The room has a bed with netting, a couch, center table, mini fridge and coffee / kettle.

At night you can hear the frogs by the river and the ocean in the distance. It’s nature the way it was intended to be so be mindful of that.

You fall asleep to the sounds of nature. Mosquitoes were few and far between and with netting on each bed, you are protected. There were so few I could probably count them.

The food is really good, both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was included and you simply select your choices off the menu and they make it for you.

This is a small hotel, so the staff are often doing several roles from cooking to check-ins and waiting on customers during breakfast and dinner and are always attentive.

There is the usual naivety with customer service in Trinidad, but keep in mind the folks here live in the Toco/Grand Riviere area and are disconnected from the rest of Trinidad.

The nearest city is Sande Grande which is about 2 hours away. So be mindful of that. Lovely people. They do genuinely want you to have a good time and enjoy your stay.

The young man that was our server and cook on our 2nd night was so peasant and loves the fact he can do so many different roles. It’s great to see that type of ambition and we wish him all the best.

There is security around at all times so you can feel safe.

The hotel does offer transportation from the airport and it might seem pricey, but note the hotel is about a 2.5hrs scenic journey from the airport and along some of Trinidad’s most famous pothole filled roads.

It is worth the price if you have no transportation otherwise.

The WiFi did not work while we were there, but it was not the fault of the hotel. Grand Riviere is a remote area in Trinidad and telecom infrastructure in Trinidad is good but takes much longer to address issues in these areas.

You can easily get unlimited data for 7 days for $99 TT at any Bmobile location (even at the airport) and you will get full 4G service in the Area.

I connected to my work’s VPN in Canada by tethering my data to my laptop and had absolutely no issues.

Why You Should NOT Book Acajou Hotel

The cottages are small and clean, but the lights weren’t working and the bathroom door was broken.

There’s no AC and the mosquitos are everywhere. If you wish to sleep in, good luck with that as the roosters and chickens will wake you up at 4am and will continue do be outside your cottage throughout the day. As for the the food, it was ok, but be prepared to have very limited choices.

While the menu looks fine, there’s almost nothing available. Also, the road to Grande Riviere is just horrible, so be ready for that

3. Natura Cabana Boutique Hotel & SPA by Mint 3* – Eco Friendly Resorts Caribbean

Natura Cabana Boutique Hotel & SPA by Mint

With natural stone walls and high thatched roofs, these private bungalows are on the coast of the Caribbean Ocean. The property features a yoga studio and a full-service spa.

Each private bungalow at Natura Cabana Boutique Hotel & SPA by Mint is furnished with a patio and living area.

They are decorated with island-inspired artwork. A refrigerator is provided.

Video Review of Natura Cabana Boutique Hotel

Guests can relax in a lounge chair by the freeform pool. The Natura Cabana Boutique Hotel & SPA by Mint offers a private beach area and concierge services.

Featuring thatched-roof cottages and surrounded by tropical foliage, this rustic-chic beachfront resort is 8 km from Mundo King Art Museum and 12 km from Monkey Jungle Dominican Republic.

Why You Should Book Natura Cabana Boutique Hotel

The airy, ceiling fan–cooled bungalows come with open-air living areas, furnished patios, and decorative touches like exposed stone, rattan furnishings and wood-beamed ceilings.

Most bungalows have mini fridges, while some feature kitchenettes.

Upgraded cottages have additional bedrooms and can sleep up to 6 people.

Free amenities include parking, breakfast and welcome drinks. There are also 2 open-air restaurants and a yoga studio.

NATURA, immersed in the tropical beauty of Cabarete, is an ecological paradise renowned for its architecture and decor, which fosters the call to tranquility and rest.

A well- cared for eco-resort with lovely rooms, great location on the beach, awesome staff that will make you feel right at home.

Also two great restaurants with fresh ingredients from their on-site large garden. I fell in love with fresh chinola (passion fruit) juice 🙂

A great place for a romantic holiday or simply to get away from it all.

This is a laid-back, remote eco-lodge between Cabarete and Sosua. It is very, very secluded…and that’s what makes it so amazing.

Walking a mile in either direction on the beach evokes feelings of being on a picturesque deserted island.

There is literally not much around except beautiful coastline and lush jungle. But, at the same time, the grounds themselves are well appointed and efficiently managed.

This is not camping in the wilderness.

Our cabana had a beautiful king sized bed, a modern style stone bathroom, lots of closet space and a mini fridge.

The property in general had a great restaurant, a pool, a yoga studio and a garden full of aloe and edible herbs (which are used by the restaurant). A spa is also on premises, as is a very helpful reception desk.

The staff also could not have been more friendly and helpful.

This really felt like a chill commune on a remote island…except with a high end restaurant, bar and spa!

Laid back eco lodge, cool cabanas, yoga temple, beautiful jungle and gardens, amazing coastline. The surf is powerful, the coastline is natural and rugged, with stretches of clean sandy beach.

The food and service was wonderful. From morning coffee, the fresh fish, prawns and amazing ceviche, great mojitos. Loved the location.

The Natura Cabana beach at sunset is stunning. 15 minute hike to great surfing at Encuentro beach. $10 and 10 minute taxi ride to downtown Cabarete.

The staff was very friendly, professional and attentive.

The property is situated on a small beautiful beach and you can continue the beach per a walking path to other beaches.

The rooms have nice sheets and towels and comfy pillows. I suspect whatever request you had, they would happily accommodate anything you need as much as humanly possible.

The only thing to keep in mind is that this is an Eco lodge so there is no a/c (there is a big fan and they provided me with an extra fan as well) and you have to be mindful about waste etc.

Why You Should NOT Book Natura Cabana Boutique Hotel

The concept of the differently styled cabanas is interesting, visually appealing, but lacks in execution, and a little too playful I would say.

You need to be careful on the stairs from the entrance and bathroom downstairs to the upstairs bedroom to avoid banging your head against the ceiling.

Mosquitos are omnipresent, from the moment I checked in at reception, and accompanied me throughout my stay. Mosquito screens have many gaps, so the room was not protected.

The elegant suites offer free Wi-Fi, flat-screens and minibars, as well as balconies or terraces. All include living areas and whirlpool tubs.

Upgraded suites add sea views and/or plunge pools. Villas are also available. Room service is offered 24/7.

Why You Should Book Sanctuary Cap Cana

There are 6 bars, a buffet restaurant and a steakhouse, plus seafood, Italian and Japanese eateries.

Other amenities include 5 outdoor pools, a private beach, a spa and a fitness center, plus regular entertainment.

Its inspired design combines the charm of a Spanish colonial village with the laid-back sensuality of the Caribbean and the stylish sophistication of streamlined, modern design accents.
Bougainvillea-lined pathways lead guests through the resort grounds to 176 expansive, private suites housed in replicas of a tower, colonial buildings and fortress.
Within the resort are 5 exceptional restaurants, 5 bars, an elegant casino, a half-mile private beach with sugar-white sand, and meeting space for up to 500 guests, while just minutes away lie all the world-class recreational appeals of Cap Cana.
On arrival we were knocked out at the vastness of the park that encompasses the Sanctuary. It felt like very eco friendly.
On arrival we were greeted with a glass of bubbly and immediately shown our room and then another for an extra fee re upgrade. We took the upgrade and it turned out wonderfully.
Our room turned out to be a small villa looking onto the ocean with our very own swimming pool and 2 bedrooms with a multitude of bathrooms. We got lost in it.
Great for a family or two couples. The resort was beautiful with wonderful pools that never felt like you were crowded. The food was excellent in all restaurants.
I particularly liked the deep fried fresh grouper for lunch.

Location: Very close to the airport, around 15 min, in a resort development called Cap Cana.

Also, Scape Park is close and offers all kinds of great activities and access to natural wonders including zip-lining, horseback riding, Cenote Las Ondas.

Hotel room: We were in a junior suite with an ocean view. The ocean view was minimal, but the room was very nice and we had a balcony with very comfortable chairs.

The room was large (included a separate living area + walk-in closet with a safe) and the bathroom was perfect.

The king sized bed was fine, but you could feel the springs on the roll away mattress.

Our room was close to everything… restaurants, pool, beach, lobby.

Food:- The breakfast buffet is delicious at Casa Bella. It’s the only choice. I highly recommend their French toast, the omelette bar and hot chocolate!
I was never really in the mood for hot chocolate because of the heat, but I finally tried it. Amazing! Nothing like that in the US. The fruit is fresh, ripe and plentiful.
Passion fruit, mango, cantaloupe, coconut, watermelon, pineapple, papaya. Yummmm!
Lunch options: A buffet at Casa Bella (It was ok. The pasta station was always a good bet. I didn’t like the hot food options that much).
The Blue Marlin (seafood) is located at the bottom of the resort by the main pool. It has great ocean views. Beautiful place to eat.

Why You Should NOT Book Sanctuary Cap Cana

Sanctuary Cap Cana brands itself as “luxury” when it is anything but.

We came here for our honeymoon for 7 days and were thoroughly unimpressed. It’s a shame too, as the layout and architecture of this particular resort is very pretty. We have many more complaints than nice things to say, though.

The first thing you need to know is that there is no AC in the hotel lobby or anywhere in the resort except your room and the restaurants. It’s hotter inside than outside as there is no circulation or fans in the large lobby.

The staff, though “nice”, never greet you or appear happy that you’re here other than the occasional “Hola”.

They stand around on their phones in groups of 2 or 3 and chat amongst themselves in Spanish all day.

At the pool, the staff is aggressive, forcing people by grabbing their hands and pulling them into the pool to participate in Zumba or salsa or water polo. The best service we received was the hotel doctor administering our covid tests on our last day.

Another note on the staff is that there are very few employees there who speak English well. The majority of employees speak almost no English.

I understand we are visiting a Spanish speaking country, but when the majority of tourists speak English, I would expect a 5 star resort to hire employees who do the same.

Video Review of Sanctuary Cap Cana

Seven Stars Resort’s air-conditioned suites offer views of the ocean or gardens. Each includes a kitchenette with a Nespresso machine, free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV with CD and DVD player.

The bathrooms include a Terry Cloth bathrobe and L’Occitane toiletries.

On a white sand beach dotted with palm trees, this upscale resort is a 12-minute walk from Provo Golf Club and 6 km from Graceway Sports Complex.

Featuring furnished balconies or terraces, the airy suites come with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, DVD players, and kitchenettes; some include ocean views.

The 1- to 3-bedroom suites provide separate living rooms with sofa beds, and some have wraparound balconies. Upgraded suites offer kitchens and washer/dryers.

Why You Should Book Sanctuary Cap Cana

A breakfast buffet is included. The resort has 3 restaurants and bars, 1 with regular live music. Other amenities include a heated saltwater pool and a chic spa.

Anchoring the sweeping arc of the world-famous Grace Bay Beach in the Turks & Caicos Islands, Seven Stars Resort blends island hospitality with luxurious all-suite accommodations and world-class amenities.
Expansive accommodations range from junior to five-bedroom suites and feature high-end furnishings and finishes, full kitchens or kitchenettes, wrap-around balconies and over-sized marble bathrooms with soaking tubs, terry bathrobes and L’Occitane amenities. Island-inspired cuisine is served in three dining venues.
Ideal for couples and families, the oceanfront palm-lined resort features a pool terrace with cabanas, tennis, complimentary water-sports, kids program, spa, fitness center, and nearby championship golf.
Overall the resort was perfectly located in Grace bay with awesome beach access and super close to the restaurants in town which we ate at twice.
The heated pool was a great touch when the sun started to set but we weren’t done being outside yet.
The rooms are nicely decorated and had more than enough room for two people. They have water bottles to take down to the beach and refill as much as needed at a station which we used every day as well as eco friendly.

Seven Stars Resort was the perfect place for my partner and I. The accommodations and grounds are beautiful.

The staff are friendly and helpful. Easy access to the powdery white sand beach and cool turquoise waters. Most of all, we felt like we were at home here.

First of all, we LOVED our suite. We booked a one bedroom premier suite on the fifth floor of the Alyah building with a sweeping ocean front view of Grace Bay.

Open spaces make me feel instantly relaxed, and at about 1,000 square feet, this suite delivered. It had travertine floors, marble bathroom, Kohler fixtures, granite kitchen countertops, etc. I kept telling my partner how much I wished I had an apartment just like it.

But luxuries aside, it was a very functional and practical unit equipped with full kitchen (dishes, glassware, cutlery, cookware included) and laundry too.
And, I liked how all the lights and fans were on dimmers so you could save some power and be eco-friendly.

Upon entering the room, we noticed that everything was absolutely pristine!

Our terrace was large enough to accommodate a lounge and a small table and chairs and the view from the 2nd floor was lovely.

The room was furnished with a very comfortable four poster king size bed, two closets, chest of drawers – plenty of room to unload our cases and make this our home for the next week.

The room also had a galley kitchen and spacious bathroom with a shower and jacuzzi tub.

The floors are all marble and the place was immaculate. Other extras included a flat screen TV, safe and IPOD dock.

The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Housekeeping cleaned our room to perfection each morning and provided fresh towels, terry robes and slippers.

Each night we got turn down service whilst we were out to dinner so our bed was ready when we returned. All of the products in the room were L’Occitane.

We were surprised to find that the guards and pool attendants were all from Nepal!

The pool attendants were wonderful each day supplying us with fresh towels (whether on the beach or poolside) and asking if we need water or cocktails.

They were extremely sweet and never overbearing.

A continental breakfast was included each morning as part of our package.

They served a basket of assorted bread & croissants and tea & coffee but I would have liked to see some fresh fruit and juice as well. The service was wonderful.

Our best food experience was at Caicos Cafe Bar & Grille – Carribean food with a French twist.
Our last day, we stumbled upon it having given the car back and looking for a new place to eat within walking distance. We started with lunch and both had fresh salads (Greek & Caesar) and decided to return for dinner.
The scallops were divine! Moderately priced.

Why You Should Book Sanctuary Cap Cana – Eco Resorts Caribbean

Seven Stars Resort & Spa was not a 5 star hotel (let alone 7 stars!).

The service was average – for the price of the hotel rooms, there are much better options! Room service arrived in take out boxes and lacked presentation. The beach chairs were always packed! Do not stay here if you prefer quiet & seclusion.

They offer free COVID testing but did not honor their appointment times (had to wait an hour) and staff managing the lines were very rude.

The plus is that it is close to many restaurants and amenities and the jacuzzi is amazing. The restaurant (Seven), although pricey, is very good.
